Book Great Possessions

Download or read book Great Possessions written by David Kline and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 1991-04-01 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Great Possessions is David Kline's classic memoir celebrating his life as an Amish farmer in Southern Ohio. "Infectiously avid, the author shares his knowledge of mushrooming in spring, chopping firewood in fall, maple-sugaring in late winter, bird-watching all year round, and going on walks across the countryside with his children, ``just . . . seeing things.'' His reverence for nature and his deep religious faith are palpable, and he argues convincingly for the ``small-scale diversified farming'' of the Amish, which ultimately gives back to the earth more than it takes." - Publishers Weekly

Book Progress To Some Devastation To Others

This book was released on 2023-10-12 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growing up in a predominantly black community in Lexington, Kentucky, I was astonished that I didn't know much about the other black communities within the city. To some degree, I didn't know much about my neighborhood. Once I sought information and began learning about the various communities, I realized there are just not many books dedicated to the black communities of Lexington. You will find a blurb here and there in some books but that's really it. Since I noticed the need, I decided I should be the one to do it, and the idea for this book was born. This book is eighteen chapters of research into black Lexington. In this text, you will discover whom these communities were named after, various characters who resided in the community, the origin story of the various churches in these communities, and much more. Neighborhoods like Pralltown, Brucetown, Maddoxtown, Davis Bottom, Speigle Hill, Charlotte Court, and Bluegrass Aspendale are covered. There are also chapters on lesser-known communities such as Frogtown, Adamstown, and Chicago Bottoms. It is also semi-biographical in nature. Many of my ancestors lived in these communities, and some of my genealogy research into their lives was shared within. There isn't a book quite like this in the city of Lexington, Kentucky. Until Now!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An award-winning book from a multimillion selling author, now available in paperback for the first time! Henry Blackaby says, “As important as Experiencing God has been to many people, A God Centered Church is a necessary sequel. Christians must make the transition from knowing and doing the will of God as individuals to knowing and doing the will of God within a corporate body of believers.” Indeed, there is a corporate nature to salvation. God saves individuals but places them in community with one another—a community of believers. God is creating for Himself a people through whom He can accomplish His purposes in our world. Experiencing God Together helps churches experience the fullness of life as a congregation, a manifest presence of God in their midst, and a love that could only come from above.
