Book Sex Matters Sex Sunnah and Love in the Ummah

Download or read book Sex Matters Sex Sunnah and Love in the Ummah written by Yasir Qadhi and published by Muslimmatters Special Collecti. This book was released on 2019-10-26 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sex matters, and at MuslimMatters.org, want to talk about it. There are many evidences that clearly demonstrate Islam's realistic and pragmatic view of human sexuality. Sexuality, like all human emotions, is a natural instinct that should be satisfied in a permissible manner. The emotion itself is not evil or filthy; abusing it and trying to satisfy it outside of the permissible bounds of marriage is evil and filthy." -Dr. Yasir QadhiJoin Dr. Yasir Qadhi, Imam Omar Suleiman, Shaykh Yahya Ibrahim, Shaykh Yaser Birjas and other writers, scholars, and Muslim leaders in this critical MuslimMatters collection. In it, we discuss same-sex attraction, sex addiction, adultery, secret second marriage, and issues facing the Muslim community. Excerpts from the book: "Many women are likely to be blamed for not keeping their husbands happy, even at times by their own families. This approach, of course, is completely devoid of any Islamic precedent or Prophetic tradition. The Prophet ﷺ never chastised the spouse of an adulterer for not doing enough to stop them from cheating." - Shaykh Omar Suleiman"Sex addiction festers in darkness. People can go about their "normal" everyday lives on the surface but in the claws of compulsion leaves them surrendering to the lure of desire. Coupled by the deep rooted belief that they are doomed destined for hell and they can't be cured/ saved, this is of course only a trap from Shaytan..." - Abeda Ahmed "The entire concept of "proof of virginity" is alien to the Deen and completely absent in the Shari'ah. The only Islamically acceptable way of knowing whether someone has committed Zina (fornication) is by confession, or having been caught fornicating by the required four witnesses, making the whole idea of physiological "proof" redundant." - Zainab bint Younis "Asking for a 'virginity test' is something new in the Muslim society. It's hard to find anything regarding this issue in such a straight forward manner in classical works of fiqh, for such a request implies suspicion in the chastity of the woman and hence falls under 'Qadhf' - meaning false accusation. This request is not only a violation to her body, but also to her innocence and to her honor." - Sh. Yaser Birjas "Contracting secret/temporary marriages reduces marriage to sexual relations in an ugly sort of rental arrangement, that is profoundly demeaning, especially to women." - Dr. Shaykh Mohammad Akram Nadwi

Book The Qualities of Time

Download or read book The Qualities of Time written by Wendy James and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-08-19 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the relevance of classical ideas in the anthropology of time tothe way we understand history, participate in the events around us, and experienceour lives. Time is not just an abstract principle we live by or a local cultural construct: it is shaped, punctuated, organized, and suffered in complex ways by real people negotiating their lives and relations with others. Space may be opened up for politics, violence or revolutionary change within the framework of ceremonial markers of social time: holy days, festivals and carnivals. People create and recreate patterns in the way they imagine the past, present and future at such moments, through material objects, language, symbolic action and bodily experience. The rhythms of social life, including periodic episodes of sacred or special time, interact with 'historical events' in strange ways. They are fundamental not only to the human condition but to the making andremembering of history, as well as to what we recognize as the unexpected or abnormal. The Qualities of Time brings anthropologists and archaeologists together in a new conversation about the 'patterns' of our understanding and experience of time. The authors reflect on how we should interpret evidence about the distant past, andhow far the structuring of social time is a human universal. They also consider whether anthropology itself has been so oriented to the present it has still to develop ways of dealing with temporality. The interactions of time-structures, ceremonials, and specific historical events, including violence inspired by the millennium, are interrogated. The experience of individuals who feel the times are for them 'out of joint' is also examined. By combining socio-cultural, philosophical and historical approaches, thisthought-provoking book moves anthropological debates about time's qualities wellbeyond existing studies. This book explores the relevance of classical ideas in the anthropology of time toth

Book A WAYFARER S MYSTIC TRIP

Download or read book A WAYFARER S MYSTIC TRIP written by Sutapa Sen and published by JEC PUBLICATION. This book was released on 2022-01-22 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The habit of writing grew with me from my childhood diary writing. Being a daughter of an avid reader of literature, my father Sri Sailendra Nath Sengupta, I explored world literature along with Bengali literature. My profession as a school teacher involved me writing lots of History notes. Writing a book was never in my thoughts until my children grew up and my husband, (my support system of everything I do) wrote his own book. Luckily I was offered to write a story for an anthology as a co-author. That was followed by many stories, poems, articles, and micro tales. I started enjoying expressing myself through black and white. This book is the product of all those write ups and my deep rooted inkling of my own journey on a solo trip infused with a kind of spirituality. With time I hope to refine my qualities and presentation. I would be happy if any one person gets some inspiration to dream big. As a motivational thinker I tried to imbibe dreams, to soar high in spite of ordeals and challenges. I am indebted to my family, my children, particularly my husband Mr. Utpal Sen who worked hard to teach me the technicalities of word file, font style and compiling or editing. I am indebted to JEC publication and especially Chaitanya for suggesting me everything for the publication of this book. I seek your support and encouragement to write better stories with the blessings of Almighty. All characters, situations and events are fully original and I never borrowed any other author’s ideas or plots. Any similarity of events and character would be purely coincidental. Thank you all.

Book Political Landscapes of Capital Cities

Download or read book Political Landscapes of Capital Cities written by Jessica Joyce Christie and published by University Press of Colorado. This book was released on 2016-08-08 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Political Landscapes of Capital Cities investigates the processes of transformation of the natural landscape into the culturally constructed and ideologically defined political environments of capital cities. In this spatially inclusive, socially dynamic interpretation, an interdisciplinary group of authors including archaeologists, anthropologists, and art historians uses the methodology put forth in Adam T. Smith’s The Political Landscape: Constellations of Authority in Early Complex Polities to expose the intimate associations between human-made environments and the natural landscape that accommodate the sociopolitical needs of governmental authority. Political Landscapes of Capital Cities blends the historical, political, and cultural narratives of capital cities such as Bangkok, Cusco, Rome, and Tehran with a careful visual analysis, hinging on the methodological tools of not only architectural and urban design but also cultural, historiographical, and anthropological studies. The collection provides further ways to conceive of how processes of urbanization, monumentalization, ritualization, naturalization, and unification affected capitals differently without losing grasp of local distinctive architectural and spatial features. The essays also articulate the many complex political and ideological agendas of a diverse set of sovereign entities that planned, constructed, displayed, and performed their societal ideals in the spaces of their capitals, ultimately confirming that political authority is profoundly spatial. Book Annual Review of South Asian Languages and Linguistics

This book was released on 2012-12-21 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: South Asia is home to a large number of languages and dialects. Although linguists working on this region have made significant contributions to our understanding of language, society, and language in society on a global scale, there is as yet no recognized international forum for the exchange of ideas amongst linguists working on South Asia. The Annual Review of South Asian Languages and Linguistics is designed to be just that forum. It brings together empirical and theoretical research and serves as a testing ground for the articulation of new ideas and approaches which may be grounded in a study of South Asian languages but which have universal applicability.
