Book Algebraic Methods in Operator Theory

Download or read book Algebraic Methods in Operator Theory written by Raul E. Curto and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of operators stands at the intersection of the frontiers of modern analysis and its classical counterparts; of algebra and quantum mechanics; of spectral theory and partial differential equations; of the modern global approach to topology and geometry; of representation theory and harmonic analysis; and of dynamical systems and mathematical physics. The present collection of papers represents contributions to a conference, and they have been carefully selected with a view to bridging different but related areas of mathematics which have only recently displayed an unexpected network of interconnections, as well as new and exciting cross-fertilizations. Our unify ing theme is the algebraic view and approach to the study of operators and their applications. The complementarity between the diversity of topics on the one hand and the unity of ideas on the other has been stressed. Some of the longer contributions represent material from lectures (in expanded form and with proofs for the most part). However, the shorter papers, as well as the longer ones, are an integral part of the picture; they have all been carefully refereed and revised with a view to a unity of purpose, timeliness, readability, and broad appeal. Book Operator Theory Operator Algebras and Their Interactions with Geometry and Topology

Download or read book Operator Theory Operator Algebras and Their Interactions with Geometry and Topology written by Raul E Curto and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-12-12 with total page 531 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the proceeding of the International Workshop on Operator Theory and Applications (IWOTA) held in July 2018 in Shanghai, China. It consists of original papers, surveys and expository articles in the broad areas of operator theory, operator algebras and noncommutative topology. Its goal is to give graduate students and researchers a relatively comprehensive overview of the current status of research in the relevant fields. The book is also a special volume dedicated to the memory of Ronald G. Douglas who passed away on February 27, 2018 at the age of 79. Many of the contributors are Douglas’ students and past collaborators. Their articles attest and commemorate his life-long contribution and influence to these fields.

Book Operator Theory Pseudo Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics

Download or read book Operator Theory Pseudo Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics written by Yuri I. Karlovich and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-10-30 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a collection of papers devoted to the 70th birthday of Professor Vladimir Rabinovich. The opening article (by Stefan Samko) includes a short biography of Vladimir Rabinovich, along with some personal recollections and bibliography of his work. It is followed by twenty research and survey papers in various branches of analysis (pseudodifferential operators and partial differential equations, Toeplitz, Hankel, and convolution type operators, variable Lebesgue spaces, etc.) close to Professor Rabinovich's research interests. Many of them are written by participants of the International workshop “Analysis, Operator Theory, and Mathematical Physics” (Ixtapa, Mexico, January 23–27, 2012) having a long history of scientific collaboration with Vladimir Rabinovich, and are partially based on the talks presented there. The volume will be of great interest to researchers and graduate students in differential equations, operator theory, functional and harmonic analysis, and mathematical physics.

Book Matrix Functions of Bounded Type An Interplay Between Function Theory and Operator Theory

Download or read book Matrix Functions of Bounded Type An Interplay Between Function Theory and Operator Theory written by Raúl E. Curto and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2019-09-05 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, the authors study matrix functions of bounded type from the viewpoint of describing an interplay between function theory and operator theory. They first establish a criterion on the coprime-ness of two singular inner functions and obtain several properties of the Douglas-Shapiro-Shields factorizations of matrix functions of bounded type. They propose a new notion of tensored-scalar singularity, and then answer questions on Hankel operators with matrix-valued bounded type symbols. They also examine an interpolation problem related to a certain functional equation on matrix functions of bounded type; this can be seen as an extension of the classical Hermite-Fejér Interpolation Problem for matrix rational functions. The authors then extend the H∞-functional calculus to an H∞¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯+H∞-functional calculus for the compressions of the shift. Next, the authors consider the subnormality of Toeplitz operators with matrix-valued bounded type symbols and, in particular, the matrix-valued version of Halmos's Problem 5 and then establish a matrix-valued version of Abrahamse's Theorem. They also solve a subnormal Toeplitz completion problem of 2×2 partial block Toeplitz matrices. Further, they establish a characterization of hyponormal Toeplitz pairs with matrix-valued bounded type symbols and then derive rank formulae for the self-commutators of hyponormal Toeplitz pairs.
