Download or read book Our World God s Visible Language written by Jerry Salloum and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2022-05-18 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “How could you ever have thought [our world] was the ultimate reality? How could you ever have thought that it was merely a stage set for the moral drama of men and women?” For the many who share these thoughts from C.S. Lewis, our world is far more than mere matter, space and energy. Its orderly patterns, its reliable processes and arresting natural beauty give it the capacity to speak, without words, a mysterious language that feeds our curiosity and wonder about it. We are drawn into the world of the audacious, with thoughts beyond the conventional, to posit an intelligent and imaginative Artist and Architect whose ineffable Creation in both its spatial and temporal dimensions defies adequate verbal expression. In delving into revelation contained in various earth sciences and within the pages of the Bible, Our World: God’s Visible Language reveals a congruency between these two avenues to Truth, that the visible Creation repeatedly declares the glory and mystery of the invisible God, and that science is not an enemy to faith. Informative and written with imagination and personal anecdotes, these pages provide readers an opportunity to better understand the invisible God and His written Word, nudging us toward a loftier context in which life can be lived and enjoyed with hope and purpose.

Download or read book Breaking the Frames written by Marc Singer and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2019-01-09 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A CHOICE Outstanding Academic Title, 2019 Comics studies has reached a crossroads. Graphic novels have never received more attention and legitimation from scholars, but new canons and new critical discourses have created tensions within a field built on the populist rhetoric of cultural studies. As a result, comics studies has begun to cleave into distinct camps—based primarily in cultural or literary studies—that attempt to dictate the boundaries of the discipline or else resist disciplinarity itself. The consequence is a growing disconnect in the ways that comics scholars talk to each other—or, more frequently, do not talk to each other or even acknowledge each other’s work. Breaking the Frames: Populism and Prestige in Comics Studies surveys the current state of comics scholarship, interrogating its dominant schools, questioning their mutual estrangement, and challenging their propensity to champion the comics they study. Marc Singer advocates for greater disciplinary diversity and methodological rigor in comics studies, making the case for a field that can embrace more critical and oppositional perspectives. Working through extended readings of some of the most acclaimed comics creators—including Marjane Satrapi, Alan Moore, Kyle Baker, and Chris Ware—Singer demonstrates how comics studies can break out of the celebratory frameworks and restrictive canons that currently define the field to produce new scholarship that expands our understanding of comics and their critics.

Download or read book The Mayan Code written by Barbara Hand Clow and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2007-03-29 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bestselling author Barbara Hand Clow shows how the Mayan Calendar is a bridge to galactic wisdom that fosters personal growth and human evolution • Unearths the meaning behind the calendar, its message for modern civilization, and what will happen after the calendar ends • Reveals how time acceleration is a manifestation of the acceleration of consciousness • By the author of The Pleiadian Agenda The Mayan Code is a deep exploration of how, with the end of the Mayan Calendar, time and consciousness have been accelerating, giving us a new understanding of the universe. Using Carl Johan Calleman’s research, as well as the ideas of other Mayan Calendar scholars, Barbara Hand Clow examines 16.4 billion years of evolution to decode the creative patterns of Earth--the World Mind. These great patterns culminated in 2011, but subsequent astrological influences have continued to inspire us to attain oneness and enlightenment. The Mayan Code shows how the time cycles of the Calendar match important periods in the evolutionary data banks of Earth and the Milky Way Galaxy. These stages of evolution converged during the final stage of the Calendar, the period between 1999 and 2011. Evidence of the tightening spiral of time that we experience as time speeding up--war and territoriality, resource management and separation from nature--are all part of daily events we must process during the coming years. Barbara Hand Clow counsels that our own personal healing is the most important factor as we prepare to make this critical leap in human evolution--now referred to as the awakening of the World Mind.
