Book Automotive Recycling Plastics and Sustainability

Download or read book Automotive Recycling Plastics and Sustainability written by David Schönmayr and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-05-31 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides transdisciplinary analyses of the automotive plastics production and recycling system, including prognoses, scenarios and solutions for corporate sustainability management. A book on plastics, not written by a plastics guy. But a sustainability guy. Plastics schizophrenia and the automotive abyss: The industry is facing a severe challenge. It is the inevitable and promising change towards a sustainable economy. However, the automotive industry is primarily concerned with the CO2 emissions from cars when driving, while the rise of lightweight plastics, electric drive and heavy batteries make the production and end-of-life phase ever more important. Therefore, the currently increasing use of non-sustainable virgin plastics in cars has to be tackled. The plastics and the automotive industry now have a chance, and this chance is the Recycling Renaissance. This book offers: • Holistic and transdisciplinary overview on sustainability and automotive plastics from all angles including economy, ecology, technology, and politics with a focus on Europe • Concise analyses, prognoses, tools and a roadmap with solutions for companies, developed together with international experts from industry and academia • Strong scientific basis and independent research including a Europe-wide survey, expert interviews, and workshops • More than 80 illustrations and 15 tables including a SCOT analysis • Executive summaries after each chapter for fast reading “The uniqueness of this book lies within the different point of view on this topic from a critical, outstanding scientist.” - Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.mont. Pomberger, Montanuni Leoben

As a leading role in the global megatrend of scientific innovation, China has been creating a more and more open environment for scientific innovation, increasing the depth and breadth of academic cooperation, and building a community of innovation that benefits all. These endeavors have made new contribution to globalization and creating a community of shared future. With the rapid development of modern economic society, in the process of economic management, informatization has become the mainstream of economic development in the future. At the same time, with the emergence of advanced management technologies such as blockchain technology and big data technology, real market information can be quickly obtained in the process of economic management, which greatly reduces the operating costs of the market economy and effectively enhances the management level of operators, thus contributing to the sustained, rapid and healthy development of the market economy. Under the new situation, the innovative application of economic management research is of great practical significance. 2022 International Conference on Bigdata, Blockchain and Economic Management (ICBBEM 2022) will be held on March 25–27, 2022 in Wuhan, China. ICBBEM 2022 will focus on the latest fields of Bigdata, Blockchain and Economic Management to provide an international platform for experts, professors, scholars and engineers from universities, scientific institutes, enterprises and government-affiliated institutions at home and abroad to share experiences, to expand professional fields, to exchange new ideas face to face, to present research results, and to discuss the key challenging issues and research directions facing the development of this field, with a view to promoting the development and application of theories and technologies in universities and enterprises.

Book Analysis of the Cost of Recycling Compliance for the Automobile Industry

Download or read book Analysis of the Cost of Recycling Compliance for the Automobile Industry written by Delphine Dantec and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cars are one of the most recycled commercial products. Currently, approximately 75% of the total vehicle weight is recycled. The EU directives on End-of-life vehicles try to push the recycling process further: it fixed the percentage of recyclability (85%) and recoverability (95%) automotive companies have to reach for their new vehicles in 2015. Complying with these directives will imply a cost, which will be borne by one or several of the stakeholders of the automotive life cycle. This cost will not only depend on the type of the vehicle but also on where the vehicle will be recycled and which recycling processes will be used. The scope of this thesis is to study the recycling cost sensitivity to regional practices and to vehicle's type. A technical cost model has been developed to calculate the cost of applying the regulation. Based on the list of parts of a particular vehicle, this tool allows to determine which parts have to be removed to reach the recycling target and the cost associated with this removal. The model was run for a sample group of vehicles and for different regional inputs. The goal is to pinpoint the major recycling cost drivers and discuss how the total cost can be reduced. Finally, this work analyses the magnitude of exposure of a vehicle manufacturer in Europe.
