Book And I m Still Waiting

Download or read book And I m Still Waiting written by Steph Chaplen and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2022-11-30 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘And I'm Still Waiting! is about all my struggles coping with a mental illness: the “highs” and “lows”, my achievements and how I have grown over the years into a capable, confident and ambitious person. I still have my bad times but the way I deal with them has changed drastically. I cover individual topics such as anger, alcohol abuse, relationships and prejudice. ‘Many songs have been referenced as they have played an important role in my continued recovery and have helped to inspire me through good and bad times. Sometimes a particular song could convey exactly how I was feeling at that time, when my own words weren't there. ‘Apart from helping with my recovery, the main reason for writing this book is to share it with others and give them hope that it is possible to lead a rewarding life even in the face of adversity.’ Steph Chaplen

Book Real Railway Tales

Download or read book Real Railway Tales written by Geoff Body and published by The History Press. This book was released on 2014-05-05 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Running a railway is a complex business, constantly throwing up drama, misadventure and the unexpected. Geoff Body and Bill Parker have collated a rich selection of railwaymen’s memories and anecdotes to create an enjoyable book of escapades and mishaps, illustrating the daily obstacles faced on the railways, from handling the new Eurostar to train catering, nights on the Tay Bridge to rail ‘traffic cops’, and from mystery derailments to track subsidence. However interesting the infrastructure of the large and varied railway business may be, the real heart of this great industry lies in its people, the complex jobs they occupy and the dedicated way in which they carry them out.

Book Neither The Biggest Or Best

Download or read book Neither The Biggest Or Best written by Graham Thomas and published by SAGUS. This book was released on 2023-12-31 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mostly when we read stories about advertising in the media or in books, they concentrate on the big names of the business - whether advertisers and their brands, agencies, or people. Yet while they sit at the undoubted glamorous end of the spectrum, picking up creative awards and with tales of off-screen outré antics to spill, they represent only the tip of the iceberg in terms of numbers. Under the waterline most of the smaller ad agencies were independent; a few were the regional subsidiaries of the biggest agencies (Saatchis, Dorlands, JWT, McCanns, Royds and Streets all had offices in Manchester for example); a few were also second string agencies in London set up by the main agency for a variety of reasons: specialist agencies that worked in recruitment, finance, corporate, and business-to-business advertising for example; or to handle conflicting accounts, or clients that were too small for the main agency to handle profitably. But as Campaign once wrote, there is a ‘stigma attached to these agencies.’ They were (still are?) seen as second class and on the fringes of the business. Rarely did they act as feeder agencies for talent (unlike journalism where many leading journalists started their careers on local newspapers before ending up on Fleet Street). Even the Chairman of JWT Manchester admitted in the early ‘80s that ‘Northern advertising people have a bit of a complex about their London counterparts. All regional agencies are in danger of being a bit provincial in their outlook.’ This volume looks at those agencies mainly through a diary written in the late 1970s. This gives a vivid, truthful, warts-and-or portrayal of what life was like in the tail-end of the advertising business.
