Book Characteristics of the Centrifugal Air pressure Nozzle

Download or read book Characteristics of the Centrifugal Air pressure Nozzle written by E. D. Novikov and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The principle features of atomizing nozzles are: fineness of spray, determined as a function of the mean or maximum droplet diameter; size distribution of droplets in flame; distribution of the characteristic mean or maximum droplet diameters over the flame cross section; flame spraying density q, kg/m(superscript 2)-sec, and the hydraulic drag of the nozzle, characterizing the effectiveness of a given nozzle design. A test rig for the experimental determination of these characteristics was developed. This rig was used to investigate the flare angle of flame and the spraying density for an air-pressure nozzle on varying the parameters within given ranges. The flare angle of flame was measured according to photographs, while spraying density was measured by trapping spray particles in test tubes positioned along the diametral cross section of the flame. The distribution of mean surface droplet diameter over the flame cross section was determined by trapping droplets on glass slides coated with a mixture of vaseline and transformer oil. It was established that neither the temperature of the atomized air nor the surface tension of the liquid affect markedly the flare angle of flame and the density of spraying. (Author).

Book excerpt: Atomization and Sprays examines the atomization of liquids and characteristics of sprays. It explains the physical processes of atomization as well as guidelines for designing atomizers. In addition, it demonstrates how the importance of the size and velocity of a particle contributes to improved spray characterization. Coverage includes general considerations, drop size distribution of sprays, flow in atomizers, atomizer performance, external spray characteristics, drop evaporation, and drop sizing methods.

Book Technological Interventions in Dairy Science

Download or read book Technological Interventions in Dairy Science written by Rupesh S. Chavan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-02-02 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume covers a selection of important novel technological interventions in dairy science, from the physical properties of milk and other milk products to nonthermal processing of milk. It also discusses safety methods in dairy science, which includes cleaning-in-place and techniques to determine adulteration in milk. Milk is a perishable commodity, and being rich in nutrients, it acts as the perfect substrate for the growth of microflora (sometimes dangerous for consumption). To reduce this, different thermal and nonthermal techniques are used. Thermal treatments are common techniques used for extending the shelf life of milk, such as, for example, pasteurization, sterilization, and UHT, but loss of nutrients is a concern associated with these treatments. Nonthermal treatments like high-pressure processing, pulse electric field, ultra-sonication, and irradiation are also explored in the processing of milk to minimize the loss of nutrients as compared to thermal treatment. Post-process contamination is also a major factor that can affect the shelf life of milk, and safe packaging plays an important role when the milk and milk products are stored at refrigeration or ambient temperature. Many advances in these dairy technologies are presented in this informative volume. Technological Interventions in Dairy Science: Innovative Approaches in Processing, Preservation, and Analysis of Milk Products will prove valuable for industrial professionals, scientists, regulatory personnel, consultants, academics, students and field-related personnel. The book also attempts to bridge the gap between research and industrial application of recent techniques.

Book Atomization and Sprays

Download or read book Atomization and Sprays written by Arthur H. Lefebvre and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-03-27 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second edition of this long-time bestseller provides a framework for designing and understanding sprays for a wide array of engineering applications. The text contains correlations and design tools that can be easily understood and used in relating the design of atomizers to the resulting spray behavior. Written to be accessible to readers with a modest technical background, the emphasis is on application rather than in-depth theory. Numerous examples are provided to serve as starting points for using the information in the book. Overall, this is a thoroughly updated edition that still retains the practical focus and readability of the original work by Arthur Lefebvre.

Book Amorphous Solid Dispersions

Download or read book Amorphous Solid Dispersions written by Navnit Shah and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-11-21 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume offers a comprehensive guide on the theory and practice of amorphous solid dispersions (ASD) for handling challenges associated with poorly soluble drugs. In twenty-three inclusive chapters, the book examines thermodynamics and kinetics of the amorphous state and amorphous solid dispersions, ASD technologies, excipients for stabilizing amorphous solid dispersions such as polymers, and ASD manufacturing technologies, including spray drying, hot melt extrusion, fluid bed layering and solvent-controlled micro-precipitation technology (MBP). Each technology is illustrated by specific case studies. In addition, dedicated sections cover analytical tools and technologies for characterization of amorphous solid dispersions, the prediction of long-term stability, and the development of suitable dissolution methods and regulatory aspects. The book also highlights future technologies on the horizon, such as supercritical fluid processing, mesoporous silica, KinetiSol®, and the use of non-salt-forming organic acids and amino acids for the stabilization of amorphous systems. Amorphous Solid Dispersions: Theory and Practice is a valuable reference to pharmaceutical scientists interested in developing bioavailable and therapeutically effective formulations of poorly soluble molecules in order to advance these technologies and develop better medicines for the future.
