Book Atlas of Fetal Sectional Anatomy

Download or read book Atlas of Fetal Sectional Anatomy written by Glenn Isaacson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fetal period of human growth and development has become an area of intense study in recent years, due in large part to the development of diagnostic ultrasound. More than 2,000 articles have been published in the last five years describing anatomy and pathology in utero, as reflected in sonographic images. Yet, no stan dard reference exists to correlate these images with fetal gross anatomy and at tempts to draw parallels from adult structure have often led to false assumptions. The dictum "the newborn is not a miniature adult" is all the more valid for the fetus. This text aims to provide a comprehensive reference for normal sectional anat omy correlated with in utero ultrasound images. In addition, magnetic resonance images of therapeutically aborted or stillborn fetuses are paired with similar gross sections to serve as a foundation upon which current in vivo studies may build. Lastly, a miscellaneous section illustrates several anatomic points useful in the understanding of fetal anatomy. These points include the changing anatomy of the fetal brain during gestation and the anatomy of the meninges, the fetal heart, and ductus venosus. It is our hope that this atlas will provide a clear picture of fetal anatomy, rectify some of the confusion which exists in antenatal diagnosis, and stimulate further interest in fetal development.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sectional anatomy is a valuable resource for understanding and interpreting imaging exams, specially computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Thus, health professionals should have a solid anatomical knowledge to properly evaluate such exams during clinical assessments of cardiac, thoracic, abdominal, proctologic, gynecological and urological diseases. The chapters in this book describe the thoracic anatomy, the abdominal wall, retroperitoneal space, and the male and female pelvis. Sectional images of cadaveric material illustrate the thoracic and the abdominal cavities, kidney, ureter, prostate, penis and other male and female organs. The images and descriptions build familiarity with the anatomical traits and can be applied in the fields of urology, gynecology, proctology, radiology and surgery. This work appeals to a wide range of readers, from health professionals to residents and students of different medical specialties.

Book Atlas of Sectional Radiological Anatomy for PET CT

Download or read book Atlas of Sectional Radiological Anatomy for PET CT written by Mehmet T. Kitapci and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-06-09 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The horizons of sophisticated imaging have expanded with the use of combined positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT). PET-CT has revolutionized medical imaging by adding anatomic localization to functional imaging, thus providing physicians with information that is vital for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. Since the integration of PET and CT several years ago, PET/CT procedures are now routine at leading medical centers throughout the world. This has increased the importance of nuclear medicine physicians acquiring a broad knowledge in sectional anatomy for image interpretation. The Atlas of Sectional Radiological Anatomy for PET/CT is a user-friendly guide presenting high-resolution, full-color images of anatomical detail and focuses solely on normal FDG distribution throughout the head & neck, thorax, abdomen, and pelvis, the primary sites for cancer detection and treatment through PET/CT.
