Download or read book GeopOlympics English version written by Kévin Veyssière and published by Max Milo. This book was released on 2024-07-01 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why have the Olympic Games always been a geopolitical event in their own right? How did the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968, Moscow in 1980 and Barcelona in 1992 reflect international tensions, despite the Olympics' political neutrality? In2024, what are the stakes for France in the Paris Olympics, against the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian and Russian-Ukrainian conflicts? Why have new powers such as China, Qatar and Saudi Arabia made the organization of the Games an objective of their influence strategy? In his fourth book, Kévin Veyssière invites sports fans, geography buffs and the curious to explore the history of our world through the Olympic Games. From Athens in 1896 to Paris in 2024, he unveils the most striking geopolitical backdrops to a theater of 206 nations, where sporting performances and power games come together.

Book Rugby World Cup

Download or read book Rugby World Cup written by Kévin Veyssière and published by Max Milo. This book was released on 2023-08-30 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How was rugby born in 1823? Why didn’t the first Rugby World Cup take place until 1987? Why are there so few «new nations» emerging in the world of rugby? How did the sport establish itself in New Zealand, South Africa, France, Ireland, Fiji, Georgia and Hong Kong? Are women’s rugby and the Olympic discipline of 7-a-side rugby opening up new frontiers? Why are the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia interested in the sport? Through 50 geopolitical and international questions, Kévin Veyssière invites rugby fans, the curious and budding geographers alike, to discover the genesis and evolution of this sport, so attached to its traditions and long kept out of the spotlight. The book’s concise, entertaining approach helps readers to better understand how rugby has become part of the global sports industry over time and across continents, and how it has become a formidable tool for understanding the political, economic and social changes taking place in the world today. Kévin Veyssière, 31, an expert and professor in the geopolitics of sport, is the founder of the Football Club Geopolitics medium, which has over 70,000 subscribers on social networks. He is already the author of two books (Football Club Geopolitics and Mondial) published by Max Milo.

This book was released on 2019-09-04 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book THE WAR IN UKRAINE AND ITS GLOBAL GEOSTRATEGIC AND GEOPOLITICAL CONSEQUENCES

Download or read book THE WAR IN UKRAINE AND ITS GLOBAL GEOSTRATEGIC AND GEOPOLITICAL CONSEQUENCES written by Julien Bokilo Lossayi and published by American Academic Press. This book was released on 2023-11-13 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Russia's invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 revealed a real rift between the Western clan and Russia with its post-war allies. This rift is reinforced by the entry into NATO of the former Soviet republics, as soon as the geopolitical gla-cis formed by fifteen republics protecting the USSR col-lapsed. This war, accompanied by tensions between China and Taiwan, has raised the risk of a world order upheaval. This book first offers a historical analysis of how this Russian-Ukrainian war came about and to what extent this conflict accentuated the rift between the two sides. The West became cobelligerent by delivering, for example, arms to Ukraine, which fed the black market, by sending instructors, the case of the French, for the use of even Caesar cannons, and by harshly sanctioning Russia, without foreseeing the wave of consequences in the world (galloping inflation and risks of famine). On the other hand, in this confrontation, Moscow benefits from the support of certain developing countries and the BRICS. Moreover, this war is moving to the African continent and becoming a hybrid. Secondly, the analysis highlights the fact that this conflict has highlighted one of the important continuous fault lines in the international architecture of this era. This fracture is characterized by three aspects of dissimilarity: the African perceptions of the war in Ukraine marked by the disparity of the foreign policies of the states; the consequences of this war cause a new look at international policies from a geopolitical as well as a geostrategic and economic point of view; and the perspectives of this war on the course of the world and its evolution.
