Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The manual primarily contains methods for the determination ofgold and silver in ores and metallurgical products by classicallead collection, but also includes the expansion of a gold-silverassay method to include platinum and palladium. In addition, anon fire-assay method is described for the determination of goldin cyanide solutions by solvent-extraction with methyl-isobutylketone. Some of the methods described have been applied tovarious reference materials certified for precious metals. Theresults obtained appear in the Appendix and show the suitabilityof the methods for specific applications, and indicate theprecision and accuracy to be expected.

Book Preconcentration Techniques For Trace Elements

Download or read book Preconcentration Techniques For Trace Elements written by Zeev Alfassi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1991-12-07 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Accurate determination of trace elements is critical in various fields of science and technology. Direct measurement of trace elements in samples with complex matrices is often impractical, either due to analytical sensitivity limitations or matrix interferences. Preconcentration procedures are generally needed to eliminate matrix interferences and/or enrich minute amounts of analytes to a level for reliable measurements. Preconcentration Techniques for Trace Elements provides up-to-date information on various preconcentration techniques and detailed discussions regarding such topics as the dissolution of matrices, coprecipitation, solvent extraction, electrochemical means, ion exchange, sorption, chromatographic methods, flotation, membranes, volatization, polymer foam sorbents, fire assay, isotachophoresis, and filter papers. This comprehensive volume, featuring contributions from 21 experts from nine countries, will provide valuable reference material for all scientists and technicians dealing with trace analysis of real-world samples.

Book Determination of the Precious Metals

Download or read book Determination of the Precious Metals written by Jon Clement Van Loon and published by . This book was released on 1991-05-03 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A handbook of practical techniques for professionals and students involved in the analysis of precious metals, either for exploitation or for contaminants. While most of the literature covers single techniques, it collects information on methods of analysis in a single source. After introducing the elements, basic techniques of analysis and the physical and chemical properties of precious metals are discussed. Also provides techniques for sampling for precious metals in ores, minerals, concentrates, rock, water, and biological, biogeochemical, and industrial samples.

Book The Analysis of Precious Metals a Review

Download or read book The Analysis of Precious Metals a Review written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper reviews the current performance and application of analytical methods used for the determination of the platinum-group metals. The techniques reviewed include fire assay, emission spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, atomic-absorption spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. Tables are included to indicate precision and limits of detection. Although applications vary from one laboratory to another, some general observations are made regarding the suitability of the different techniques to different types of samples.

Book Precious Metal Assay Analysis of Fresh Reforming Catalyst by X Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry

Download or read book Precious Metal Assay Analysis of Fresh Reforming Catalyst by X Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry written by FC. McElroy and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Precious metal analysis of fresh reforming catalysts are typically performed by both the catalyst manufacturer and buyer to arrive at a financial settlement on the quantity of metal in each lot of commercial catalyst: Traditional assay methods involve a variety of fire assay or wet chemical acid digestion schemes coupled with gravimetric, colorimetic, or titrimetric measurement for precious metals. Methods must have sufficient precision and accuracy to afford interlaboratory agreement of within one half of one percent relative between the catalyst supplier and purchaser. To meet this requirement many laboratories rely on classical methods. Unfortunately these procedures are labor intensive and time consuming.
