Book Ashtavakra Mahageeta Bhag 9

Download or read book Ashtavakra Mahageeta Bhag 9 written by Osho and published by Diamond Pocket Books (P) Ltd.. This book was released on 2022-01-13 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: In Meri Gita, acclaimed mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik demystifes The Bhagavad Gita for the contemporary reader. His unique approach-thematic rather than verse-by-verse-makes the ancient treatise eminently accessible, combined as it is with his trademark illustrations and simple diagrams. In a world that seems spellbound by argument over dialogue, vi-vaad over sam-vaad, Devdutt highlights how Krishna nudges Arjuna to understand rather than judge his relationships. This becomes relevant today when we are increasingly indulging and isolating the self (self-improvement, self-actualization, self-realization-even selfes!).We forget that we live in an ecosystem of others, where we can nourish each other with food, love and meaning, even when we fght. So let My Gita inform your Gita

Book excerpt: This book offers a translation of the seven thousand verses of the second book of the medieval Hindu text, the Ganesa Purana, one of two Puranas dedicated to the important elephant-headed god. In this book the reader is given many narratives about Ganesas ascent to earth in order to kill demonic figures who threaten to overthrow the correct world order. In addition, these narratives contain myths about Ganesa's birth and family as well as some extended and quite humorous myths about ideal devotees of the god.The translation is preceded by a long introduction offering a geographical and historical context for the GanesaPurana. Following the translation are very extensive notes which bring our points of philological interest, but focus mainly on the literary structure of the text and the methods used to present the many myths and narratives in a coherent and fully integrated manner.

Book Beyond Freedom

Download or read book Beyond Freedom written by Nisargadatta (Maharaj) and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experience afresh, the true essence of his teaching Recently, some long-forgotten tapes of Nisargadatta Maharaj's talks were unearthed from the archives of S. K. Mullarpattan, Maharaj's interpreter for the longest time. These tapes contained recordings of some of Maharaj's talks with seekers, held during the last two years of his life. They capture afresh the essence and flavour of the teachings of this world-renowned Master of Advaita - the Hindu philosophy of Non-duality. These dialogues find a new relevance for our times. For, in one of these talks, Maharaj made a special reference to his earlier book I Am That and said, "That book and whatever was expounded at that time was only relevant for that period. I am speaking differently today. As a matter of fact, this should also have been recorded and published as it is in greater detail, and is emphasizing different aspects." More than 25 years later, that wish of Nisargadatta Maharaj is being fulfilled with the publication of these talks in Beyond Freedom. This is a book all devotees of Maharaj will want to read with ardent fervour and enthusiasm.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The saga of the Indian National Movement; with its unique leadership and ideological foundation; continues to engage those interested in the history of India. Raj to Swaraj: A Textbook on Colonialism and Nationalism in India takes its readers through the panorama of modern Indian history; with all its trials and tribulations; and keeps it intellectually stimulating all through the narrative. This textbook for students attempts to present its case; free from ideological biases. The result of a lifelong engagement with teaching and research; this book incorporates the sharp classroom debates and analysis of bright and committed students; thus enriching its formulations and interpretations. It provides a fresh look at the national struggle for independence and attempts to provoke; promote and unleash; critical and creative thinking among the student community. In the process; it seeks to relieve them from the drudgery of working as intellectual foot soldiers to the authorities in our academia. This book marks a departure from the earlier studies in terms of its new and updated sources as well as in its freedom from the great ideological divides that continue to bedevil our academic life. As such; it avoids both the extremes of woolly sentimentalism and ideology-based debunking. Essentially eclectic and synthesising in its approach; and written in a lucid style; the book covers different phases and facets of our national struggle. To that end; it adopts a thematic; rather than a chronological narrative. The book will prove invaluable for students of political science and modern Indian history; as well as general readers.
