Book Predicting Human Decision Making

Download or read book Predicting Human Decision Making written by Ariel Rosenfeld and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2018-01-22 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human decision-making often transcends our formal models of "rationality." Designing intelligent agents that interact proficiently with people necessitates the modeling of human behavior and the prediction of their decisions. In this book, we explore the task of automatically predicting human decision-making and its use in designing intelligent human-aware automated computer systems of varying natures—from purely conflicting interaction settings (e.g., security and games) to fully cooperative interaction settings (e.g., autonomous driving and personal robotic assistants). We explore the techniques, algorithms, and empirical methodologies for meeting the challenges that arise from the above tasks and illustrate major benefits from the use of these computational solutions in real-world application domains such as security, negotiations, argumentative interactions, voting systems, autonomous driving, and games. The book presents both the traditional and classical methods as well as the most recent and cutting edge advances, providing the reader with a panorama of the challenges and solutions in predicting human decision-making.

Download or read book Artificial Intelligence in Theory and Practice written by Max Bramer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-08-10 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers in this volume comprise the refereed proceedings of the conference 'Artificial Intelligence in Theory and Practice' (IFIP AI 2006), which formed part of the 19th World Computer Congress of IFIP, the International Federation for Information Processing (WCC- 2006), in Santiago, Chile in August 2006. The conference is organised by the IFIP Technical Committee on Artificial Intelligence (Technical Committee 12) and its Working Group 12.5 (Artificial Intelligence Applications). All papers were reviewed by at least two members of our Programme Committee. The best papers were selected for the conference and are included in this volume. The international nature of IFIP is amply reflected in the large number of countries represented here. The conference featured invited talks by Rose Dieng, John Atkinson, John Debenham and myself. IFIP AI 2006 also included the Second IFIP Symposium on Professional Practice in Artificial Intelligence, organised by Professor John Debenham, which ran alongside the refereed papers. I should like to thank the conference chair. Professor Debenham for all his efforts in organising the Symposium and the members of our programme committee for reviewing an unexpectedly large number of papers to a very tight deadline. This is the latest in a series of conferences organised by IFIP Technical Committee 12 dedicated to the techniques of Artificial Intelligence and their real-world applications. The wide range and importance of these applications is clearly indicated by the papers in this volume. Further information about TCI 2 can be found on our website http://www.ifiptcl2.org.

Book Machine Learning and Music Generation

Download or read book Machine Learning and Music Generation written by José M. Iñesta and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-10-16 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational approaches to music composition and style imitation have engaged musicians, music scholars, and computer scientists since the early days of computing. Music generation research has generally employed one of two strategies: knowledge-based methods that model style through explicitly formalized rules, and data mining methods that apply machine learning to induce statistical models of musical style. The five chapters in this book illustrate the range of tasks and design choices in current music generation research applying machine learning techniques and highlighting recurring research issues such as training data, music representation, candidate generation, and evaluation. The contributions focus on different aspects of modeling and generating music, including melody, chord sequences, ornamentation, and dynamics. Models are induced from audio data or symbolic data. This book was originally published as a special issue of the Journal of Mathematics and Music.

Book Journal on Data Semantics VI

Download or read book Journal on Data Semantics VI written by Stefano Spaccapietra and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-08-29 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: • Data warehousing and semantic data mining • Spatial, temporal, multimedia and multimodal semantics • Semantics in data visualization • Semantic services for mobile users • Supporting tools • Applications of semantic-driven approaches These topics are to be understood as speci?cally related to semantic issues. Contributions submitted to the journal and dealing with semantics of data will be considered even if they are not within the topics in the list. While the physical appearanceof the journal issues looks like the books from the well-known Springer LNCS series, the mode of operation is that of a jo- nal. Contributions can be freely submitted by authors and are reviewed by the Editorial Board. Contributions may also be invited, and nevertheless carefully reviewed, as in the case for issues that contain extended versions of best papers from major conferences addressing data semantics issues. Special issues, foc- ing on a speci?c topic, are coordinated by guest editors once the proposal for a special issue is accepted by the Editorial Board. Finally, it is also possible that a journal issue be devoted to a single text. The journal published its ?rst volumein 2003(LNCS 2800),its secondvolume at the beginning of 2005(LNCS 3360), and its third volume in Summer 2005 (LNCS 3534). Volumes I, II and V are special issues composed of selected extended versions of best conference papers. Volume III is a special issue on Semantic-Based Geographical Infor- tion Systems, coordinated by guest editor Esteban Zim ́ anyi.
