Appropriately dealing with these type of people begins with productive introspection, and similarly, should end with it. You should come to view this challenge as an opportunity for self-improvement. Perhaps you have arrogant tendencies of your own. Or maybe there are aspects of your own worldview that are overly fragile and worthy of reevaluation.
