Download or read book Are You Curious about Kurios written by Gilberto Gonzalez Jr. and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-08 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you curious about Kurios? What is this question all about? If Christians could answer this question then we might be able to answer many of the other questions that plague modern Christianity, such as: Why is the Christian divorce rate just as high as divorce rates among the lost? Why is it that eighty percent of the churches in North America are in decline? How do we know that the Christianity we practice is exactly what God envisioned the church to be? These answers can only be found through the power of God's word. God left the Bible as His living will and testament for mankind containing everything necessary for His people to follow in His perfect ways. The apostles took the message of the gospel and "turned world upside down" (Acts 17:6). The Reformers revived the power of the gospel, and Christianity and the world were forever changed. What could Christians do today if we reclaimed the power of God's word? Read for the answers and emerge with the truth! Gilberto Gonzalez Jr. obtained his Masters of Divinity in Theology from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He also received a bachelor's degree in socio-cultural anthropology and a citation in world religions from University of Maryland, College Park. He planted a church with the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware and has been invited as a guest speaker for numerous churches. He has served in many functions including senior pastor, associate pastor, youth pastor, campus ministry, Christian education, military ministry, and racetrack chaplaincy.

Download or read book Piso Christ written by Roman Piso and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2010-07-22 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evidence shows the New Testament texts were not written by simple, non-royal subjects, but instead were created by extremely well-educated, royal Romans. In Piso Christ, author Roman Piso, with Jay Gallus, presents a new perspective to show that the creation of Christianity has different origins than previously taught. Through this collection of essays and articles, Piso shows that only a few individuals invented and built the Christian religion, and these same individuals authored the New Testament of the Christian Bible. Piso Christ addresses the issues of how these few people wielded that much power and how they were able to succeed. In this new book, Piso contends that the royalty wanted to protect their centuries-old institution of slavery upon which the empire functioned, lived, fed, and gained wealth. The royal people understood that knowledge was power and, therefore, did what they could to keep the masses ignorant and superstitious. Through research, Piso Christ shows that the god concept did not originate in what is represented in the Bible. It demonstrates how millions of people are being misled into accepting the concept of a god and how they live in fear of an unnatural belief.

Download or read book God So Loved the World written by Fr. Robert Spitzer, SJ and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2016 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume the brilliant Fr. Spitzer probes in detail the major question that if an intelligent Creator God – manifest in logical proofs, scientific evidence, and near death experiences - who is the source of our desire for the sacred, and the transcendental desires for truth, love, goodness, and beauty, would want to reveal himself to us personally and ultimately. He then shows this is reasonable not only in light of our interior experience of a transcendent Reality, but also that a completely intelligent Reality is completely positive--implying its possession of a completely positive virtue – namely "love", defined as agape. This leads to the question whether God might be unconditionally loving, and if he is, whether he would want to make a personal appearance to us in a perfect act of empathy – face to face. After examining the rational evidence for this, he reviews all world religions to see if there is one that reveals such a God – an unconditionally loving God who would want to be with us in perfect empathy. This leads us to the extraordinary claim of Jesus Christ who taught that God is "Abba", the unconditionally loving Father. Jesus' claims go further, saying that He is also unconditional love, and that his mission is to give us that love through an act of complete self-sacrifice. He also claims to be the exclusive Son of the Father, sent by God to save the world, and the one who possesses divine power and authority. The rest of the book does an in-depth examination of the evidence for Jesus' unconditional love of sinners, his teachings, his miracles, and his rising from the dead. As well as the evidence for Jesus' gift of the Holy Spirit that enabled his disciples to perform miracles in his name, and evidence for the presence of the Holy Spirit today. If this strong evidence convinces us to believe that Jesus is our ultimate meaning and destiny, and desire His saving presence in our lives, that evidence should galvanize the Holy Spirit within us to show that Jesus is Lord and Savior, "the way, the truth, and the life." And our faith in him will transform everything we think about our nature, dignity, and destiny– and how we live, endure suffering, contend with evil, and treat our neighbor.

Download or read book We are the Machine written by Paul A. Youngman and published by Camden House. This book was released on 2009 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation of attitudes toward -- and unease with -- Information Technology, as reflected in recent German-language literature. Despite our embrace of the sheer utility and productivity it has made possible, the revolution in Information Technology has led to unease about its possible misuse, abuse, and even its eventual domination of humankind. That German culture is not immune to this sense of disquiet is reflected in a broad variety of German-language fiction since the 1940s. This first study of the literary reception of IT in German-speaking lands begins with an analysis of a seminal novel from the beginning of the computer age, Heinrich Hauser's Gigant Hirn (1948), then moves to its primary focus, the literature of the past two decades, ranging from Gerd Heidenreich's Die Nacht der Händler (1995) to Daniel Glattauer's novel Gut gegen Nordwind (2006). Along the way, it analyzes eleven works, including Barbara Frischmuth's novel Die Schrift des Freundes (1998), René Pollesch's drama world wide web-slums (2001), and Günter Grass's novella Im Krebsgang (2003). As wildly different in approach as these works are, each has much to offer this investigation of the imaginary border dividing the human from the technological, a lingering, centuries-old construct created to ease the anxiety that technology has given rise to throughout the ages. Paul A. Youngman is Associate Professor of German at the University of North Carolina-Charlotteand Director of the Center for Humanities, Technology, and Science.
Download or read book The Plays of Ernst Toller written by Cecil Davies and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-09-13 with total page 705 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the fullest and most detailed study yet published in English of Ernst Toller's plays and their most significant productions. In particular the productions directed by Karl-Heinz Martin, Jurgen Fehling and Erwin Piscator are closely analyzed and the author demonstrates how, brilliant though they were, they obscured or even distorted Toller's intentions. The plays are seen as eminently stage-worthy while worth lies in Toller's use of language, both in prose and inverse. The neglected puppet-play The Scorned Lovers' Revenge is analyzed from a new perspective in the light, both of its language and its sexual theme, so important in Toller's writings as a whole. The reader is led to appreciate why Toller was regarded as the most outstanding German dramatist of his generation until, after his death in 1939 his reputation was overlaid by that of Brecht. This book should do much to restore Toller to his proper place in theatre history.
