Book Designing and Implementing a Secure Portable and Efficient Mobile Agent Kernel The J SEAL2 Approach

Download or read book Designing and Implementing a Secure Portable and Efficient Mobile Agent Kernel The J SEAL2 Approach written by Walter Binder and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2002-03-07 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inhaltsangabe:Abstract: Even though the benefits of mobile agents have been highlighted in numerous research works, mobile agent applications are not in widespread use today. For the success of mobile agent applications, secure, portable, and efficient execution platforms for mobile agents are crucial. However, available mobile agent systems do not meet the high security requirements of commercial applications, are not portable, or cause high overhead. Currently, the majority of mobile agent platforms is based on Java. These systems simply rely on the security facilities of Java, although the Java security model is not suited to protect agents and service components from each other. Above all, Java is lacking a concept of strong protection domains that could be used to isolate agents. The J-SEAL2 mobile agent system extends the Java environment with a model of strong protection domains. The core of the system is a micro-kernel fulfilling the same functions as a traditional operating system kernel: Protection, communication, domain termination, and resource control. For portability reasons, J-SEAL2 is implemented in pure Java. J-SEAL2 provides an efficient communication model and offers good scalability and performance for large-scale applications. This thesis explains the key concepts of the J-SEAL2 micro-kernel and how they are implemented in Java. Tuck and Delaney must come to grips with the happiness they owe themselves and the happiness of their friend who has given so much of himself.

Book Internet Programming Languages

Download or read book Internet Programming Languages written by Henri E. Bal and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-29 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collection of articles about the influence that the recent greater scope and availability of wide area networks is having on the semantics, design, and implementa tion of programming languages. The Internet has long provided a global computing in frastructure but, for most of its history, there has not been much interest in programming languages tailored specifically to that infrastructure. More recently, the Web has pro duced a widespread interest in global resources and, as a consequence, in global pro grammability. It is now commonplace to discuss how programs can be made to run effectively and securely over the Internet. The Internet has already revolutionized the distribution and access of information, and is in the process of transforming commerce and other areas of fundamental importance. In the field of programming languages, the Internet is having a deep revitalizing effect, by challenging many fundamental assumptions and requiring the development of new concepts, programming constructs, implementation techniques, and applications. This book is a snapshot of current research in this active area. The articles in this book were presented at the Workshop on Internet Programming Lan guages, which was held on May 13, 1998 at Loyola University, Chicago, USA. The pa pers submitted to the workshop were screened by the editors. After the workshop, the presented papers were refereed by an external reviewer and one of the editors, resulting in the current selection.

He's not looking for romance, but he finds the right woman in the worst possible place. As part of a military unit helping train Afghan soldiers, Devlin is learning how to use the latest combat drones. After a murder is committed on the base, suspicion falls on the drone's drop-dead-gorgeous designer. Devlin can't stop himself from running to her rescue. Following their return Stateside, another employee in the same company turns up dead. Once again, all evidence points to the designer. Bristol had no choice but to take her latest drone models to war-torn Afghanistan, given how behind schedule she is in her work and because her boss is pressuring her. The last thing she expected was disaster to strike and, for all the world, she looks like the one to blame. When the bodies pile up and her research goes unfathomably missing along with her best friend, she's determined to find out what's going on, damn the danger. Devlin has made it his mission to keep her safe while she seems to be doing everything in her power to make his job--and resisting her--impossible. SEALs of Honor: Easton Trips to Canada's wilderness for joint military training are something Easton always looks forward to. Meeting the lovely photographer contracted to capture the base and trainees for new marketing materials adds a whole new twist to a straight-forward routine…a twist with both a light and dark undertone. Summer tends to get lost in her art so she's been called ditzy, absent-minded, and a host of less flattering names. She doesn't let any of it bother her. Her passionate nature has a rewarding creative outlet, and she adores traveling for her work. Unfortunately, her undistracted concentration means she isn't always taking care of herself the way she should. So, when she's attacked, Easton is the one who realizes she's unwittingly stumbled into a dangerous situation and she needs his help to stay safe. The escalation of violence has Easton holding Summer close enough to kiss, close enough to shatter her ability to focus on a single other thing… military romance; military; mystery and suspense; Action and adventure; Navy SEAL romance; SEAL; alpha hero; Romantic Suspense; Mystery; Suspense; light action; romance; Hero, strong female;

Book The Last Deployment

Download or read book The Last Deployment written by Bronson Lemer and published by Univ of Wisconsin Press. This book was released on 2011-06-08 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2003, after serving five and a half years as a carpenter in a North Dakota National Guard engineer unit, Bronson Lemer was ready to leave the military behind. But six months short of completing his commitment to the army, Lemer was deployed on a yearlong tour of duty to Iraq. Leaving college life behind in the Midwest, he yearns for a lost love and quietly dreams of a future as an openly gay man outside the military. He discovers that his father’s lifelong example of silent strength has taught him much about being a man, and these lessons help him survive in a war zone and to conceal his sexuality, as he is required to do by the U.S. military. The Last Deployment is a moving, provocative chronicle of one soldier’s struggle to reconcile military brotherhood with self-acceptance. Lemer captures the absurd nuances of a soldier’s daily life: growing a mustache to disguise his fear, wearing pantyhose to battle sand fleas, and exchanging barbs with Iraqis while driving through Baghdad. But most strikingly, he describes the poignant reality faced by gay servicemen and servicewomen, who must mask their identities while serving a country that disowns them. Often funny, sometimes anguished, The Last Deployment paints a deeply personal portrait of war in the twenty-first century.
