Book Synthetic Aperture Radar Simulation by Electro Optical to SAR Transformation Using Generative Adversarial Network

Download or read book Synthetic Aperture Radar Simulation by Electro Optical to SAR Transformation Using Generative Adversarial Network written by Jason Slover and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The CycleGAN generative adversarial network is applied to simulated electo-optical (EO) images in order to transition them into a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)-like domain. If possible this would allow the user to simulate radar images without computing the phase history of the scene. Though visual inspection leaves the output images appearing SAR-like, examination by t-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE) shows that CycleGAN was insufficient at generalizing an EO-to-SAR conversion. Further, using the transitioned images as training data for a neural network shows that SAR features used for classification are not present in the simulated images."--Abstract.

Book Synthetic Aperture Radar Processing with Tiered Subapertures

Download or read book Synthetic Aperture Radar Processing with Tiered Subapertures written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is used to form images that are maps of radar reflectivity of some scene of interest, from range soundings taken over some spatial aperture. Additionally, the range soundings are typically synthesized from a sampled frequency aperture. Efficient processing of the collected data necessitates using efficient digital signal processing techniques such as vector multiplies and fast implementations of the Discrete Fourier Transform. Inherent in image formation algorithms that use these is a trade-off between the size of the scene that can be acceptably imaged, and the resolution with which the image can be made. These limits arise from migration errors and spatially variant phase errors, and different algorithms mitigate these to varying degrees. Two fairly successful algorithms for airborne SARs are Polar Format processing, and Overlapped Subaperture (OSA) processing. This report introduces and summarizes the analysis of generalized Tiered Subaperture (TSA) techniques that are a superset of both Polar Format processing and OSA processing. It is shown how tiers of subapertures in both azimuth and range can effectively mitigate both migration errors and spatially variant phase errors to allow virtually arbitrary scene sizes, even in a dynamic motion environment.

Book Synthetic Aperture Radar Processing

Download or read book Synthetic Aperture Radar Processing written by Giorgio Franceschetti and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Synthetic Aperture Radar Processing simply and methodically presents principles and techniques of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image generation by analyzing its system transfer function. The text considers the full array of operation modes from strip to scan, emphasizes processing techniques, enabling the design of operational SAR codes. A simple example then follows. This book will be invaluable to all SAR scientists and engineers working in the field. It may be used as the basis for a course on SAR image generation or as a reference book on remote sensing. It contains a wide spectrum of information presented with clarity and rigor.

Book Simulation of Synthetic Aperture Radar II Simulating SAR Synthetic Aperture Radar Using the Advanced Visual Technology System

Download or read book Simulation of Synthetic Aperture Radar II Simulating SAR Synthetic Aperture Radar Using the Advanced Visual Technology System written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Advanced Visual Technology System (AVTS) computer image generator was modified to produce highly accurate simulations of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) reflectively and elevation effects that can be precisely correlated with corresponding visual and infrared imagery. The resulting SAR snapshot is a plan view of the selected patch area with the field-of-view corresponding to a selected scale of 0.65, 1.3, or 2.6 nm. The image generator is interrupted for only one frame time, during which the entire processing power of the AVTS, up to 4,000 polygons, is brought to bear on the SAR snapshot. Once the SAR patch is computed, the AVTS continues with visual and infrared processing. A post-processor then adds feature and terrain shadows, horizontal and vertical incidence effects, resolution fall-off in azimuth and range, and speckle. (rrh).

Book Bistatic SAR Polar Format Image Formation

Download or read book Bistatic SAR Polar Format Image Formation written by Davin Mao and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The polar format algorithm (PFA) for bistatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image formation offers the compromise between image quality and computational complexity afforded by PFA, while enabling the geometric flexibility of a bistatic collection scenario. The use of the far-field approximation (FFA), which enables the use of the two-dimensional (2D) fast Fourier transform (FFT) in PFA, introduces spatially-varying distortion and defocus effects causing geometric warping and blurring in the resulting image. In this thesis, the residual phase errors due to the FFA are analyzed by decomposing the residual phase errors in the time dimension into their constant, linear, and quadratic Taylor series components. Based on the analysis, a 2D interpolation-based distortion correction technique is developed, and accurate scene size limits are derived for the corrected image to mitigate the effects of defocus. The phase error analysis is conducted with respect to arbitrary transmitter and receiver trajectories, and examples are demonstrated for both the ideal linear and ideal circular flight geometries using a point target scene simulation.

Book Simulation of Synthetic Aperture Radar IV Summary and Recommendations

Download or read book Simulation of Synthetic Aperture Radar IV Summary and Recommendations written by Peter M. Crane and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Four experiments were conducted to identify digital feature data base requirements for simulating synthetic aperture radar (SAR). The results indicate that lines of communication and large areal features are the principal cues used in SAR image interpretation. The results also indicate that depiction of small, individual features is required to create a simulation with acceptable realism. These small individual features may be depicted generically without adversely affecting SAR operator task performance. This approach has been proposed by the Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) as the basis for a new Digital Feature Analysis Data (DFAD) product (Level 3-C) to support high-resolution radar simulation. We recommend that the Air Force accept the proposed Level 3-C DFAD specification for SAR simulation. (RH).
