Book excerpt: Le domaine du génie civil est en constante évolution et, ces dernières années, un nouveau domaine a fortement progressé : celui de la maintenance des ouvrages. En effet, un très grand nombre d’ouvrages d’art ou de bâtiments se retrouvent dégradés pour de multiples raisons tels que les accidents routiers, les hausses de trafics, les modifications d’aménagement dans les bâtiments ou encore les actions climatiques. Pour résoudre ces problèmes, deux solutions principales s’offrent aux maîtres d’ouvrage : la démolition ou la réparation, éventuellement renforcée. La technique de renforcement par matériaux composites s’intègre dans cette éventualité. Les coûts relativement acceptables et la mise en œuvre rapide font de cette solution technique, une solution de plus en plus appréciée.La technique du renforcement par matériaux composites se traduit par l’encollage de tissus ou de plats réalisés en fibres, de carbone ou de verre en règle générale, sur un support en béton. Dans une structure, tous les types d’éléments peuvent être renforcés. Beaucoup d’études portent sur les comportements de poutres et de poteaux, réalisés en béton armé, renforcés par matériaux composites. Il en ressort que le renforcement permet d’augmenter très fortement les efforts repris et de diminuer les flèches. Au niveau de l’élément dalle, le nombre de recherches est beaucoup plus faible, le travail présenté, entre dans ce cadre. La partie expérimentale a permis de valider le fait que les dalles béton armé connaissent deux types majeurs de rupture : une rupture par flexion et une rupture par poinçonnement. La rupture par flexion, ductile, se traduit par une fissuration importante de la dalle et par une flèche non négligeable. Le schéma de fissuration est souvent en étoile, c’est-à-dire que les fissures partent du centre de la dalle et se dirigent vers les extrémités, en règle générale vers les angles de celle-ci. La rupture par poinçonnement est quant à elle très fragile. Peu de fissures apparaissent avant la ruine proprement dite de la structure. Le poinçonnement se traduit par l’enfoncement d’un cône de béton au sein de la dalle. C’est un phénomène local qui entraîne la ruine de la structure tout entière. Les essais expérimentaux, menés sur une quantité importante de spécimens d’étude, ont servi à analyser les effets d’un éventuel renforcement de structure. Il en découle que le renforcement par matériaux composites des dalles béton armé ne change pas les types de ruine des structures mais permet d’atteindre des valeurs ultimes beaucoup plus importantes et de diminuer les flèches. Il est important de noter que le renforcement est plus efficace sur les éléments minces sensibles à la flexion. Une validation expérimentale, des différents paramètres influençant le comportement des dalles BA renforcées, a été menée. Un modèle numérique a été développé afin de prédire le type de rupture qu’une dalle est censé avoir en fonction de ses caractéristiques géométriques et matériaux. Ce modèle permet de définir la charge maximale atteinte ainsi que les flèches et déformations au cours du chargement. Enfin, une approche réglementaire a été validée mettant en place une méthode de calcul simple, facilement exploitable par les bureaux d’études du secteur du génie civil

Dans cette optique, nous proposons dans ce travail d'appliquer une approche de type calcul à la rupture aux dalles ou poutres en béton armé renforcées par collage de matériaux composites afin de prévoir leur chargement de ruine. Dans un premier temps, nous avons établi un outil de calcul qui utilise des lois de comportement quelconques pour les matériaux constitutifs d'une poutre en BA renforcée et qui nous donne un comportement global de la structure. Puis, dans le cas d'un modèle de plaques multicouches membranaires, nous avons établi les équations d'équilibre, les conditions aux limites et les critères portant sur les efforts généralisés ainsi qu'une approche par l'extérieur par les vitesses généralisées et une approche par l'intérieur par les efforts généralisés. Les poutres ou dalles en BA renforcées sont alors considérées comme des tri-couches, la couche inférieure représentant le matériau composite, la couche intermédiaire le treillis d'acier et enfin la couche supérieure le béton. Le paramètre à déterminer est la force maximale appliquée provoquant la rupture. Nous avons appliqué une approche de type calcul à la rupture dans le cas d'un bi-couche et d'un tri-couche, les mécanismes de ruines incluant des discontinuités de vitesses dans les couches et aux interfaces. Enfin, les résultats obtenus dans le cadre d'essais de flexion trois points sur poutres ou sur les dalles appuyées montrent que notre modèle s'avère être prédictif pour les cas traités expérimentalement.

Les lois constitutives des materiaux (beton, acier, adhesif et CFRP) sont calibrees dans des essais mecaniques. Ces lois sont ensuite incorporees dans une solution iterative basee sur la methode des elements finis. L'actent est mis sur la modelisation du comportement non-lineaire du beton a travers la definition d'une variable d'endommagement. La procedure proposee permet egalement la simulation de l'accumulation d'endommagement mecanique ainsi que la simulation de l'initiation et de la propagation de macro-fissures."

Nos travaux de recherche sont focalisés sur le renforcement de structures sollicitées à la flexion par collage de matériaux composites en fibres de Carbone (CFRP). Dans la partie expérimentale de notre étude le comportement mécanique de la poutre en béton armé renforcée est obtenu dans un essai classique de flexion quatre points. La nécessité de renforcement en CFRP est créée artificiellement par la mise en place d’une quantité insuffisante de renforcement intérieur en acier. La réponse globale de la structure renforcée est obtenue dans des courbes Charge-Flèche pour les différents taux de renforcement extérieur et à travers l’observation du comportement de la zone comprimée. La réponse locale de la structure est étudiée dans la zone de l’interface béton- matériau composite pour mieux comprendre les mécanismes de rupture qui ont lieu dans le joint adhésif. L’évolution locale des déformations et le comportement local à la rupture sont étudiés pas la mise en place de jauges de déformation. Des capteurs de déplacement sont installés le long du joint adhésif pour détecter l’apparition d’une discontinuité éventuelle à l’interface béton-matériau composite

Book excerpt: Le béton armé (BA) a été largement étudié, surtout à travers son comportement mécanique et ses capacités physico-chimique. Par contre la notion de réparation des ouvrages de génie civil par des solutions composites est plus rarement traitée. Cette recherche porte essentiellement sur : l'analyse de l'influence du degré de fissuration sur la résistance ultime des éprouvettes réparées et l'application des concepts de fiabilité afin d'estimer la probabilité de défaillance. Dans ce but, des poutres en BA ont été pré fissurées par des essais en flexion 3 points jusqu'à 2 niveaux différents d'endommagement puis réparées. L'insertion d'une tige en composite (soit fibre de carbone, soit fibre de verre) et le collage d'une plaque en carbone sur la face tendue de la poutre courte, ont été utilisés comme méthodes de réparation. Lors des essais en flexion de poutres réparées, leur comportement a été évalué à l'aide d'un microscope à longue distance et par la technique d'émission acoustique. A partir des résultats obtenus, nous avons constaté que les deux méthodes de réparation sont très efficaces. En effet, les éprouvettes réparées ont considérablement augmenté leurs résistances ultimes. Une approche probabiliste utilisant les méthodes Monte Carlo et FORM pour déterminer la probabilité de défaillance de l'éprouvette testée en flexion trois points a été utilisée. Ces résultats nous ont permis d'élaborer des abaques qui mettent en relation la force résistante de l'éprouvette, le coefficient de variation et la probabilité de défaillance.

More specifically, the project objectives were to predict the physical and mechanical performance of concrete with recycled aggregates; to understand the potential contribution of recycled fibers as a dispersed reinforcement in concrete matrices; and to demonstrate the feasibility and possible applications of natural fibers as a reinforcement in cementitious composites. All of these aspects are fully covered in the book.
