Ainsi depuis plus d'un siècle, différentes écoles de pensée ont tenté d'élaborer des concepts, afin de simplifier, codifier et optimiser l'intégration de nos reconstructions prothétiques. Face à une même situation clinique, plusieurs solutions peuvent être retenues, directement liées au processus de décision propre à chaque praticien. Pour minimiser le risque d'échecs, la décision thérapeutique doit être précise, efficace et sûre. Il est donc indispensable e rationaliser la réflexion. Cette démarche analytique et décisionnelle sera développée dans une troisième partie. Enfin, en 2012, à l'heure où la dentisterie évofue vers le tout numérique, il est impossible d'aborder les restaurations prothétiques fixées sans penser à la conception et fabrication assistée par ordinateur (C.F.A.O.). Même si la gestion de l'occlusion en C.F.A.O. en est à ses balbutiements, nous verrons dans la quatrième partie dans quel sens tendent les progrès à venir.

Trois points théoriques ont été abordés : l'esthétique, le fonctionnel avec l'occlusion et les contraintes les plus fréquentes. L'analyse esthétique du praticien doit tenir compte des caractéristiques morphologiques particulières du visage du patient, comme la position et les proportions des différents éléments de la face, et donc des différentes lignes principalement bi pupillaire pour le plan horizontal et gabelle pour le plan sagittal médian. Cette analyse doit aussi être réalisée en mouvement lorsque le patient parle, sourit et/ou rit. Le diagnostic esthétique du praticien doit être approprié et convaincant pour le patient, mais aussi considérer l'harmonie naturelle du visage ni figée, ni artificielle. Au-delà de l'esthétique, le praticien doit privilégier la fonction occlusale. Après évaluation diagnostique occluso-architecturale, le plan de traitement doit suivre les huit critères décrits pour une réhabilitation prothétique adaptée. Les contraintes rencontrées comme le bruxisme, l'érosion acide ou le reflux gastro œsophagien doivent être détectés et pris en charge par les spécialistes correspondants. Des conseils d'hygiène bucco-dentaire et alimentaire viennent compléter le traitement. Le cas clinique présenté permet d'apprécier le passage de la théorie à la pratique. Les décisions du traitement ont été prises en étroite concertation avec la patiente. La réalisation de mock up résine a permis à la patiente de s'approprier le projet prothétique. L'écoute et l'information de la patiente ont été primordiales dans ce projet, comme cela doit être le cas pour toutes les réhabilitations esthétiques. "

This science has become particularly useful to forensic pathologists because it aids in solving various puzzles, such as id- tifying victims and documenting crimes. On topics such as mass disasters and crimes against humanity, teamwork between forensic pathologists and for- sic anthropologists has significantly increased over the few last years. This relationship has also improved the study of routine cases in local medicolegal institutes. When human remains are badly decomposed, partially skelet- ized, and/or burned, it is particularly useful for the forensic pathologist to be assisted by a forensic anthropologist. It is not a one-way situation: when the forensic anthropologist deals with skeletonized bodies that have some kind of soft tissue, the advice of a forensic pathologist would be welcome. Forensic anthropology is a subspecialty/field of physical anthropology. Most of the background on skeletal biology was gathered on the basis of sk- etal remains from past populations. Physical anthropologists then developed an indisputable “know-how”; nevertheless, one must keep in mind that looking for a missing person or checking an assumed identity is quite a different matter. Pieces of information needed by forensic anthropologists require a higher level of reliability and accuracy than those granted in a general archaeological c- text. To achieve a positive identification, findings have to match with e- dence, particularly when genetic identification is not possible.
