Book excerpt: Pendant des années les individus ont essayé de résoudre le problème de la prise de décision dans l'incertain dans un environnement complexe. Les choix peuvent être multiples dans des situations très diverses. En particulier le domaine de la décision multicritère est vaste et les méthodes dites d'aide à la décision multicritère se sont largement développées.Méthodologiquement, les méthodes d'optimisation reposent essentiellement sur la programmation mathématique tandis que l'analyse de décision aide l'individu à faire un choix parmi un ensemble d'alternatives représentées dans un arbre de décision et utilisant une fonction d'utilité, basée sur les préférences individuelles. Dans notre travail la théorie de l'utilité a été mise en oeuvre, en particulier le concept de l'utilité est appliqué au domaine de l'imagerie, le pixel a été modélisé comme décideur ainsi que son mode de raisonnement, dans l'application de l'extraction du contour et de suppression du bruit dans une image en niveaux de gris. Nous ne cherchons pas à créer une nouvelle méthode mais à démontrer que l'on peut utiliser cette théorie dans divers domaines. L'intelligence artificielle consiste en effet à reproduire les comportements naturels au sein d'un système informatisé afin d'améliorer ses performances.

Les applications concrètes portent essentiellement sur la modélisation quantitative des éléments et relations flous. Dans ce travail de recherche, sont largement abordées les applications de la logique floue pour modéliser l'imprécision et la commensurabilité dans l'analyse multicritère. La logique floue, consistant à paramétrer les critères d'une façon intuitive et d'expertise, permet de franchir certaines contraintes fortes en cas de mesurabilité et/ou commensurabilité difficiles. Une base comparative regroupant la théorie de décision en avenir risqué et dans un contexte multicritère est également présentée par la revue de littérature. Le dessalement nucléaire est un domaine où la prise de décision est réputée complexe : alternatives sont multiples, critères plutôt qualitatifs, valeurs imprécises, ... Par un questionnaire Delphi et des observations, cette thèse propose que la logique floue soit un apport précieux pour ce domaine rassemblant des éléments difficiles à démêler. La logique floue est enfin concrètement appliquée à un cas concernant la définition de la politique nucléaire en Bulgarie pour valider le modèle et les propositions. Ce travail fait une synthèse des décisions à propos de la centrale nucléaire à Kozlodoui et du projet de Béléné pour démontrer que la logique floue est une solution pertinente pour une situation imprécise où les méthodes conventionnelles d'analyse s'avèrent moins en mesure de fournir une aide concrète.
