Book excerpt: The book “Mechatronics: Recent Technological and Scientific Advances” provides comprehensive and accessible coverage of the evolving disciplines of mechatronics for nanotechnology, automatic control & robotics, biomedical engineering, design manufacturing and testing of MEMS, metrology, photonics, mechatronic products majors. It is already the third volume following the previous editions in 2007 and 2009 providing a recent state of advances in mechatronics presented on the 9th International Conference Mechatronics 2011, hosted this year at the Faculty of Mechatronics, Warsaw University of Technology, Poland. The carefully selected contributions give an insight into the current development of these scientific disciplines, present the new results of research and development and indicate the trends of development in the interdisciplinary field of mechatronics systems. Even though many people believe that the presence of mechanical, electrical, electronic components, and computers make a system mechatronics, others do not feel the same as there is nothing wrong with the individual identity. The enclosed material is original, and reflects the main research tendencies and developments in mechatronics among Mechatronics 2011 contributing countries. It helps to acquire the mix of skills needed to comprehend and design mechatronic systems and also provides with the frame of understanding to develop a truly interdisciplinary and integrated approach to engineering. Download or read book An Introduction to Optical Wireless Mobile Communication written by Harald Haas and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2021-09-30 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of the optical spectrum for wireless communications has gained significant interest in recent years. Applications range from low-rate simplex transmission links using existing embedded CMOS cameras in smartphones, referred to as optical camera communications (OCC), mobile light fidelity (LiFi) networking in homes, offices, urban and sub-sea environments to free-space gigabit interconnects in data centers and point-to-point long-range wireless backhaul links outdoors and in space. This exciting book focuses on the use of optical wireless communications (OWC) for mobile use cases. The book discusses existing conventional radio frequency (RF)-based wireless access technology and presents the challenges that can impact the requirements of the future wave of new wireless services in the context of artificial intelligence (AI) driven autonomous systems and machine-type communications. The relationship between visible light communications (VLC) and light fidelity (LiFi), is explored, and the major advantages of VLC and LiFi such as security and data density, and discuss existing research challenges are also introduced. Channel modeling techniques are provided for mobile multiuser scenarios, and will introduce key building blocks to achieve LiFi cellular networks achieving orders of magnitude improvements of area spectral efficiency compared to state-of-the-art. Challenges that arise from moving from a static point-to-point visible light link to a LiFi network that is capable of serving hundreds of mobile and fixed nodes are discussed. An overview of recent standardization activities and the commercialization challenges of this disruptive technology is also provided.

These presentations have been reviewed and a selection will be published in this volume, and in special issues of the journals Multibody System Dynamics and Mechanics of Structures and Machines.
Download or read book Algorithms of the Synthesis of Optimal Regulations written by F.A. ALIEV, V.B. LARIN, N.I. VELIEVA and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2022-03-30 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on methods to solutions regarding matrix equations: algebraic, periodic, and unilateral Riccati equations, Lyapunov equations, Silvester equations, generalized Silvester equations, and factorization of matrix polynomials in continuous and discrete cases. These equations are used to solve problems of the synthesis of optimal controllers. Also presented is the problem of the synthesis of optimal controllers in the frequency domain when measuring part of the phase coordinates. A general parameterization algorithm is proposed for its solution. The well-known parameterizations (Youla–Jabr–Bongiorno (1976) and Desoer–Liu–Murrau–Saeks (1980)) are demonstrated by us to form a special case of the proposed general parameterization algorithm. The obtained results can be applied to solve various problems in oil production by the gas-lift method and rod pump systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, and walking machines. Each section is illustrated by examples. The MATLAB environment is used for numerical solution of the problems. The book is intended for students and experts in applied mathematics and control systems theory.
