Book Improved Reservoir Models and Production Forecasting Techniques for Multi Stage Fractured Hydrocarbon Wells

Download or read book Improved Reservoir Models and Production Forecasting Techniques for Multi Stage Fractured Hydrocarbon Wells written by Ruud Weijermars and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-12-12 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The massive increase in energy demand and the related rapid development of unconventional reservoirs has opened up exciting new energy supply opportunities along with new, seemingly intractable engineering and research challenges. The energy industry has primarily depended on a heuristic approach—rather than a systematic approach—to optimize and tackle the various challenges when developing new and improving the performance of existing unconventional reservoirs. Industry needs accurate estimations of well production performance and of the cumulative estimated ultimate reserves, accounting for uncertainty. This Special Issue presents 10 original and high-quality research articles related to the modeling of unconventional reservoirs, which showcase advanced methods for fractured reservoir simulation, and improved production forecasting techniques.

Book Multiphase Fluid Flow in Porous and Fractured Reservoirs

Download or read book Multiphase Fluid Flow in Porous and Fractured Reservoirs written by Yu-Shu Wu and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2015-09-23 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multiphase Fluid Flow in Porous and Fractured Reservoirs discusses the process of modeling fluid flow in petroleum and natural gas reservoirs, a practice that has become increasingly complex thanks to multiple fractures in horizontal drilling and the discovery of more unconventional reservoirs and resources. The book updates the reservoir engineer of today with the latest developments in reservoir simulation by combining a powerhouse of theory, analytical, and numerical methods to create stronger verification and validation modeling methods, ultimately improving recovery in stagnant and complex reservoirs. Going beyond the standard topics in past literature, coverage includes well treatment, Non-Newtonian fluids and rheological models, multiphase fluid coupled with geomechanics in reservoirs, and modeling applications for unconventional petroleum resources. The book equips today’s reservoir engineer and modeler with the most relevant tools and knowledge to establish and solidify stronger oil and gas recovery. Delivers updates on recent developments in reservoir simulation such as modeling approaches for multiphase flow simulation of fractured media and unconventional reservoirs Explains analytical solutions and approaches as well as applications to modeling verification for today’s reservoir problems, such as evaluating saturation and pressure profiles and recovery factors or displacement efficiency Utilize practical codes and programs featured from online companion website

Book Essentials of Reservoir

Download or read book Essentials of Reservoir written by Pierre Donnez and published by Editions OPHRYS. This book was released on with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The book covers the basic techniques of reservoir engineering necessary for a professional to master. The approach consists of starting from the fundamental physical laws down to the practical applications in reservoir engineering. Emphasis is placed on assumptions and limits attached to each concept and the link between theory and field applications. The theory in this book is developed with a homogenous unit system with useful formulas expressed in practical units."--BOOK JACKET.

Book Seismic Reservoir Modeling

Download or read book Seismic Reservoir Modeling written by Dario Grana and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-05-04 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seismic reservoir characterization aims to build 3-dimensional models of rock and fluid properties, including elastic and petrophysical variables, to describe and monitor the state of the subsurface for hydrocarbon exploration and production and for CO2 sequestration. Rock physics modeling and seismic wave propagation theory provide a set of physical equations to predict the seismic response of subsurface rocks based on their elastic and petrophysical properties. However, the rock and fluid properties are generally unknown and surface geophysical measurements are often the only available data to constrain reservoir models far away from well control. Therefore, reservoir properties are generally estimated from geophysical data as a solution of an inverse problem, by combining rock physics and seismic models with inverse theory and geostatistical methods, in the context of the geological modeling of the subsurface. A probabilistic approach to the inverse problem provides the probability distribution of rock and fluid properties given the measured geophysical data and allows quantifying the uncertainty of the predicted results. The reservoir characterization problem includes both discrete properties, such as facies or rock types, and continuous properties, such as porosity, mineral volumes, fluid saturations, seismic velocities and density. Seismic Reservoir Modeling: Theory, Examples and Algorithms presents the main concepts and methods of seismic reservoir characterization. The book presents an overview of rock physics models that link the petrophysical properties to the elastic properties in porous rocks and a review of the most common geostatistical methods to interpolate and simulate multiple realizations of subsurface properties conditioned on a limited number of direct and indirect measurements based on spatial correlation models. The core of the book focuses on Bayesian inverse methods for the prediction of elastic petrophysical properties from seismic data using analytical and numerical statistical methods. The authors present basic and advanced methodologies of the current state of the art in seismic reservoir characterization and illustrate them through expository examples as well as real data applications to hydrocarbon reservoirs and CO2 sequestration studies.

Book Geological and Petrophysical Characterization of the Ferron Sandstone for 3 D Simulation of a Fluvial deltaic Reservoir

Download or read book Geological and Petrophysical Characterization of the Ferron Sandstone for 3 D Simulation of a Fluvial deltaic Reservoir written by Thomas C. Chidsey and published by Utah Geological Survey. This book was released on 2002 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of the Ferron Sandstone project was to develop a comprehensive, interdisciplinary, quantitative characterization of a fluvial-deltaic reservoir to allow realistic inter-well and reservoir-scale models to be developed for improved oil-field development in similar reservoirs world-wide. Quantitative geological and petrophysical information on the Cretaceous Ferron Sandstone in east-central Utah was collected. Both new and existing data were integrated into a three-dimensional model of spatial variations in porosity, storativity, and tensorial rock permeability at a scale appropriate for inter-well to regional-scale reservoir simulation. Simulation results could improve reservoir management through proper infill and extension drilling strategies, reduction of economic risks, increased recovery from existing oil fields, and more reliable reserve calculations. This 471-page report describes the geological and petrophysical characteristics of the fluvial-deltaic Upper Cretaceous Ferron Sandstone. The report includes Ferron facies analysis, regional sequence stratigraphy, evaluation of three case-study areas, geostatistics, and a 3-D oil and gas reservoir simulation of the Ferron.
