Book excerpt: (Based on a true event 2029-2036) Hurtling through space was an enormous tumbling rock known as MN4, that our astronomers affectionately named after an ancient Egyptian god of destruction. Asteroid Apophis was the talk of the year which every scientific community was aware of, though its flyby in April of 2029 was to be nothing more than a spectacular celestial event; but as warring nations were locked in global conflict, our civilization was unprepared for the devastation that followed in its wake. Several years after governments fell and society dissolved a ragged pack of survivors stumble upon the buried truth, revealing what had led to the aftermath that ensued, leaving them to question their continued struggle to salvage what few splintered shards were left of our world.

  • Pages : 276 pages

Download or read book The Wormwood Prophecy written by Thomas Horn and published by Charisma House. This book was released on 2019-12-03 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does the Bible predict an asteroid...or something else? This book will challenge your interpretation of end-times theology and help you sharpen your understanding in light of current times. Does Revelation 8:10-11 describe an asteroid? Is the Wormwood star from Revelation 8 already headed toward Earth? Are NASA and high-level government officials aware of an asteroid that is on a collision course with our planet? Is that why President Trump sanctioned a colossal increase to planetary defense? Do the prophecies from ancient cultures and religions across the globe all point to a catastrophic planetary event that has scientists and politicians taking extreme preventative measures under the public radar? Earth is not currently prepared for the scope of impact that may be just around the corner, and people in high places know it... But what will the biblical Wormwood actually be? Traditional scholarly interpretation claims it will be an asteroid. Others postulate that the eschatological poisoning of one-third of all Earth's waters and the devastation of our planet's ecology might not be as detectable as we may believe: it could hit suddenly and without warning, like an angel of God appearing in the sky with fire and light, bringing judgment in an instant. Follow Thomas Horn as he blazes a trail through these questions and many others, posing answers that very few in the church today are willing to provide. FEATURES AND BENEFITS: Examines asteroid threats to Earth, including Apophis (named after the Egyptian god of chaos), which is a topic of serious discussion among experts in planetary defense Includes interviews with government impact specialists, scientists, Bible scholars, and prophecy experts

Book Icarus Second Chance

Download or read book Icarus Second Chance written by Jacques Arnould and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-09-15 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2011: fifty years separate us from the flight of Yuri Gagarin. Fifty years of extraordinary successes, with the kind of apotheosis represented by the first man on the moon; fifty years also of bitter failures, even tragic when they involved the deaths of human beings; finally, fifty years during which space largely contributed to the scientific and technical, political and economic, cultural and social transformation of humanity. This is a critical analysis of the decisions and the actions which constituted and constitute still the field of astronautic activities, to analyse this field's strategies and choices, their consequences on the natural environment and on humans, in short to work out and apply an ethical investigation. This work is the fruit of research carried out by the French Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES) over the past ten years, in collaboration with many organisations, astronautical or not: ESA, NASA and especially ESPI.

Book THE REVEALING

  • ISBN : 1496904133
  • Pages : 351 pages

Download or read book THE REVEALING written by Edwin L. Woolsey and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014-04 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To the very end of Christ's ministry, there was a constant human need to know Him. Having already been warned about a plot to kill Jesus, a group of Christ's friends privately asked a troubling question concerning future events, "What shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world?" (Matt. 24:3) Circumstances were rapidly spiraling out of control, and the disciples longed to understand what would happen next. In the last 2000 years, the same basic need for awareness has only intensified. Complex global developments seem almost beyond our ability to address. Akin to St. Paul's analogy of labor pains at birth, each new world crisis appears to occur faster and with greater severity than the one before! (1 Thes. 5:3) Today, people are genuinely hungry for the reality of intimately discovering who Jesus actually is. Like the early disciples, we have the same nagging desire to know. Haven't you felt this need in your own life? For that reason, the Revelation of Jesus Christ was divinely inspired and written by Apostle John. Spanning the entire circuit of Creation, the Apocalypse addresses the timeless question, "What shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world?" Unlike any other book in the Bible, only the Revelation promises a special blessing to those individuals who explore its amazing prophetic secrets. (Rev. 1:3) However, without the necessary key to open human understanding, John's prophecies have remained closed. Until now! THE REVEALING is that KEY for unlocking the intricate mysteries of the Revelation of Jesus Christ in order for you to know "The Sign of Christ's Coming and the End of the World!"

Book Defending Planet Earth

    Book Details:
  • Author : National Research Council
  • Publisher : National Academies Press
  • Release : 2010-06-21
  • ISBN : 0309157218
  • Pages : 153 pages

Download or read book Defending Planet Earth written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2010-06-21 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The United States spends approximately $4 million each year searching for near-Earth objects (NEOs). The objective is to detect those that may collide with Earth. The majority of this funding supports the operation of several observatories that scan the sky searching for NEOs. This, however, is insufficient in detecting the majority of NEOs that may present a tangible threat to humanity. A significantly smaller amount of funding supports ways to protect the Earth from such a potential collision or "mitigation." In 2005, a Congressional mandate called for NASA to detect 90 percent of NEOs with diameters of 140 meters of greater by 2020. Defending Planet Earth: Near-Earth Object Surveys and Hazard Mitigation Strategies identifies the need for detection of objects as small as 30 to 50 meters as these can be highly destructive. The book explores four main types of mitigation including civil defense, "slow push" or "pull" methods, kinetic impactors and nuclear explosions. It also asserts that responding effectively to hazards posed by NEOs requires national and international cooperation. Defending Planet Earth: Near-Earth Object Surveys and Hazard Mitigation Strategies is a useful guide for scientists, astronomers, policy makers and engineers.

Book Near Earth Objects

  • Author : Donald K. Yeomans
  • Publisher : Princeton University Press
  • Release : 2016-09-26
  • ISBN : 1400883555

Download or read book Near Earth Objects written by Donald K. Yeomans and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2016-09-26 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An insider's look at the science of near-Earth comets and asteroids Of all the natural disasters that could befall us, only an Earth impact by a large comet or asteroid has the potential to end civilization in a single blow. Yet these near-Earth objects also offer tantalizing clues to our solar system's origins, and someday could even serve as stepping-stones for space exploration. In this book, Donald Yeomans introduces readers to the science of near-Earth objects—its history, applications, and ongoing quest to find near-Earth objects before they find us. In its course around the sun, the Earth passes through a veritable shooting gallery of millions of nearby comets and asteroids. One such asteroid is thought to have plunged into our planet sixty-five million years ago, triggering a global catastrophe that killed off the dinosaurs. Yeomans provides an up-to-date and accessible guide for understanding the threats posed by near-Earth objects, and also explains how early collisions with them delivered the ingredients that made life on Earth possible. He shows how later impacts spurred evolution, allowing only the most adaptable species to thrive—in fact, we humans may owe our very existence to objects that struck our planet. Yeomans takes readers behind the scenes of today’s efforts to find, track, and study near-Earth objects. He shows how the same comets and asteroids most likely to collide with us could also be mined for precious natural resources like water and oxygen, and used as watering holes and fueling stations for expeditions to Mars and the outermost reaches of our solar system.
