Book The Routledge Handbook of Consumer Behaviour in Hospitality and Tourism

Download or read book The Routledge Handbook of Consumer Behaviour in Hospitality and Tourism written by Saurabh Kumar Dixit and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2017-04-07 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consumer behaviour is one of the most explored topics in tourism and hospitality marketing, interchangeably denoted by the terms ‘traveller behaviour’, ‘tourist behaviour’ or ‘guest behaviour’. Consumer behaviour acts as an origin for every tourism and hospitality marketing activity. It offers an understanding of why people tend to choose certain products or services and what sort of factors influence them in making their decision. The decision process of buying tourism products or services takes time, because they are mostly intangible in nature due to which there are many risks involved in their buying process. The Routledge Handbook of Consumer Behaviour in Hospitality and Tourism aims to explore and critically examine current debates, critical reflections of contemporary ideas, controversies and pertinent queries relating to the rapidly expanding discipline of consumer behaviour in hospitality and tourism. The Handbook offers a platform for dialogue across disciplinary and national boundaries and areas of study through its diverse coverage. It is divided into six parts: Part I offers an overview of consumer behaviour; Part II focuses on the service quality perspectives of consumer behaviour; Part III deliberates on customer satisfaction and consumer behaviour linkages; Part IV explores the re-patronage behaviour of consumers; Part V addresses the vital issues concerning online consumer behaviour; and Part VI elaborates upon other emerging paradigms of consumer behaviour. Although there is no dearth of empirical studies on different viewpoints of consumer behaviour, there is a scarcity of literature providing conceptual information. The present Handbook is organised to offer a comprehensive theoretical body of knowledge narrating consumer behaviour, especially for hospitality and tourism businesses and operations. It attempts to fill this research gap by offering a 'globalised' volume comprising chapters organised using both practical and academic approaches. This Handbook is essential reading for students, researchers and academics of Hospitality as well as those of Tourism, Marketing, International Business and Consumer Behaviour.

Book Determinants of Loyalty Programmes and Their Impact on Store Patronage

Download or read book Determinants of Loyalty Programmes and Their Impact on Store Patronage written by Yogesh Mahajan and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure the impact of perceived benefits offered by loyalty programmes on store patronage behaviour and repeat purchase behaviour of customers. Another purpose of this study is to assess the impact of mediating and influencing factors on patronage behaviour and customer loyalty.Design/methodology/approach: The convenience sampling method was adopted for the sample selection. Structured questionnaire instruments were distributed to subscribers who are enrolled or subscribed to any loyalty programme and asked them to mark their opinions about subscriptions to a loyalty programme and the benefits or perceived values that customers get from the subscribed loyalty program. To determine respondent responses, closed-end questions and Likert scales were used. A SmartPLS statistical programme was used to analyse the coefficient and p-value of the perceived value of the loyalty programme and its relation with patronage behaviour.Findings: The study finds a significant impact of various loyalty programme determinants on store patronage behaviour, supported by hypothesis testing. Researchers have used variable commitment to the test with satisfaction and trust and found it supportive. Another hypothesis tested for the impact of satisfaction on trust shows a significant relationship. They found a significant relationship between the perceived benefits of a loyalty programme and satisfaction with the store and trust. Another hypothesis tested for the impact of satisfaction on trust shows a similar relationship. The impact of commitment on loyalty behaviour (store patronage) was analysed and found to be significant.Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, to date, this methodology has not been used to measure the influence of loyalty programme values on patronage behaviour in the present context. Based on the understanding that the measurement of the impact of perceived values of loyalty programmes on repeat purchase behaviour could be very useful in providing guidance for decision-making in consumer retention strategy, this paper contributes to the literature on the evaluation of store patronage behaviour with its influencing variables.

Book Retail Brand Equity and Loyalty

Download or read book Retail Brand Equity and Loyalty written by Julia Katharina Weindel and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-06 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Julia Weindel provides novel implications for researchers and managers by first identifying the sector-specific main levers of retail brand equity. Second, she shows that retail brand equity and perceived value have a reciprocal relationship. The author analyzes which one of these has stronger effects on loyalty. Third, she addresses the interdependencies between brand beliefs, retail brand equity, and loyalty within multichannel retail structures. The study is forced through the knowledge that management of retail brands is highly valuable for scholars and managers, because retail brand equity is known to strongly influence consumer behavior in various contexts. The retail brand represents a valuable asset for retailers which need to know the levers of retail brand equity.

Book Proceedings of the International Conference Theory and Applications in the Knowledge Economy

Download or read book Proceedings of the International Conference Theory and Applications in the Knowledge Economy written by Eduardo Tomé and published by Eduardo Tomé. This book was released on 2016-07-08 with total page 923 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Foreword TAKE 2016 is a dream that came true. In about six months, a group of friends and colleagues put together in an upcoming and very dynamic university a conference with 9 streams, 3 keynotes, and 3 special sessions. 60 papers presented, 6 posters and around 80 participants from 20 countries. This is awesome! I would like to deeply thank Aveiro University, the GOVCOPP research centre, the conference committee, the keynote speakers, the special session convenors, the stream leaders, the reviewers, the authors, and the administrative people for all their work and support. I want to have two special words one for Blazenka Knezevic without whom the website would not have been possible, the other for Gaby Neumann for work in these Proceedings. Scientifically, TAKE seems to be as important and new and far reaching. We don’t have shortage of models regarding the knowledge economy but we decisively lack to explore the relation between theory and practice. TAKE is a step in exploring that difference. We know that “Exact sciences find the best answers and social sciences give the best questions” (J.C. Spender) and we also know that “Knowledge Management is more preached by scholars than done by practitioners” (Aino Kianto). We assume the first idea and try to overcome the second. Hopefully TAKE 2016 will be a great success. Thank you for everything.

Book An examination of factors leading to abating customer loyalty towards magazine subscriptions

Download or read book An examination of factors leading to abating customer loyalty towards magazine subscriptions written by Benjamin Schweizer and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2008-03-25 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2007 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, grade: 1,0, University of Glamorgan (Business School), language: English, abstract: Customer loyalty in the means of continued subscriptions is key to sustain within a limited market. Where an organisation cannot attract new customers, it must focus on it’s competitors and entice customers away. Getting this right depends among others on the retention of customers and therefore, understanding the reasons that make magazine readers cancel their subscriptions. Based upon a review of related theories on customer loyalty and customer retention, and experience from practitioners, a contextual model for the German magazine publishing industry could be created. The magazine reader loyalty model incorporates the generic customer loyalty model (Dick and Basu, 1994) and reflects the typical customer life cycle of magazine subscribers. Focusing on the effect of attitudinal changes, this study utilises related studies, real world databases and brainstorming sessions to create a list of presumed factors that lead to abating customer loyalty towards magazine subscriptions. Within a qualitative-quantitative survey, data on the importance of these factors was collected. From a comparison of former and actual subscribers, the effectiveness of these attributes is investigated. An analysis method based upon probabilities is utilised to overcome the limitations that affected related studies. This novel analysis method enables substantiated statements on the commonness and effectiveness of attitudinal factors and thus, their relevance towards customer loyalty. From this, the most significant factors that lead to a drop out of magazine subscribers could be identified to be i) the time that is available to a reader, ii) the actual reading behaviour, iii) the entertainment value of a magazine, iv) the perceived time savings and v) the availability of alternative magazines and other media. Further, evidence was found that i) the compilation of a magazine, ii) overall satisfaction, iii) fast access to information, iv) delivery satisfaction and v) the discussion of articles with friends and colleagues are of limited use as measurements. Those factors are unlikely and when present, found among former subscribers as well as actual subscribers. This study concludes that some factors are more important than others, especially those that deal with available time and perceived time savings. Decision-makers and marketers should focus on these factors in the first place. Additional, suggestions for further research are given.

Book Customer Loyalty and Supply Chain Management

Download or read book Customer Loyalty and Supply Chain Management written by Ivan Russo and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-08-03 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many business-to-business (B2B) managers think that customers act rationally and base decisions mostly on price, customer loyalty isn’t considered. Companies outsource various activities, which enable them to improve efficiency, reduce costs, focus more on core competencies and improve their innovation capabilities. Supply Chain Management synchronizes the efforts of all parties—particularly suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, dealers, customers—involved in achieving customer’s needs. Despite much research, the relationship between customer loyalty and the supply chain strategy remains insufficiently explored and understood by practitioners and academics, while the theme has been extensively developed within marketing literature. Customer Loyalty and Supply Chain Management is the result of years of work by the authors on different projects concerning the overlapping areas of supply chains, logistics and marketing, drawing a connection between the literature to provide a holistic picture of the customer loyalty framework. Emphasis is given to the B2B context, where recent research has provided some clues to support the fact that investment in operations, new technologies and organizational strategy have had a significant role in understanding B2B loyalty, particularly in the context of global supply chains. Moreover, the book provides a modernized and predictive model of B2B loyalty, showing a different methodological approach that aims at capturing the complexity of the phenomenon. This book will be a useful resource for professionals and scholars from across the supply chain who are interested in exploring the dimension of customer loyalty in the challenging supplier and customer context.

Book Type and Timing of Rewards as Influencing Factors on the Value Perception of a Customer Loyalty Program

Download or read book Type and Timing of Rewards as Influencing Factors on the Value Perception of a Customer Loyalty Program written by Ulrich Pohl and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2007-07 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2006 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, grade: 1,5, Maastricht University, language: English, abstract: Although this research is also occupied with customer loyalty programs it examines a new customer loyalty model which tests the influence of reward systems on the value perception of a loyalty program. Thus, the thesis introduces an empirical research on a two part model, whereas one part differentiates between direct and indirect premiums (type of reward) and the second part investigates the differences between delayed and proactive reward programs (timing of reward). The study aims at finding differences between the type and the timing of reward on the value perception of a loyalty program, which is new in academic research. In addition, this study grounds on the automobile industry, i.e. a high involvement setting, in contrast to prior academic science which focused on the low involvement setting. The inclusion of moderating factors that contain information on customer's relationship maintenance motivation and relational benefits shall also help to shed light on differences in value perception according to the level of dedication or constraint based relationships. In addition, the degree of social, confidence and special treatment benefits is also assumed to manipulate the value perception of loyalty programs as moderating factors. Lastly, the study discovers relationships between the type and the timing of reward. The study results clearly reveal that there is no difference between direct and indirect rewards, whereas the proactive system demonstrates to have an obviously higher value perception than delayed rewards. Furthermore, the moderating factors partly prove to influence value perception. Hence, dedication based relationships favour direct rewards over indirect rewards and the proactive system over the delayed system. The same holds true for confidence benefits whereas constraint b

Book Examining the Antecedents and Structure of Customer Loyalty in a Tourism Context

Download or read book Examining the Antecedents and Structure of Customer Loyalty in a Tourism Context written by Xiang Li and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to gain an understanding of the structure and antecedents of cruise passengers' loyalty. Specifically, the study examined the dimensionality of the loyalty construct. Moreover, the study investigated the utility of applying the Investment Model (Rusbult 1980, 1983) to reveal the psychological processes underlying loyalty formation. The study also attempted to, guided by the Investment Model, integrate the seemingly segregated findings of loyalty antecedents from marketing and leisure/tourism literature. Based on the Investment Model and other marketing and leisure/tourism studies on loyalty, a conceptual framework was established for this study. An online panel survey was conducted to examine this model. Subjects (N = 554) were online panelists who were repeat cruisers and who have cruised at least once in the past 12 months. In this study, loyalty was conceptualized as a four-dimensional construct: cognitive loyalty, affective loyalty, conative loyalty, and behavioral loyalty. Further, the first three components were postulated as three subdimensions of a higher order construct, attitudinal loyalty. However, this conceptualization was not supported by the data. Alternatively, post-hoc analyses revealed that attitudinal loyalty was a first-order one-dimensional construct, containing cognitve, affective, and conative components. Moreover, behavioral loyalty was positively and significantly influenced by attitudinal loyalty. In sum, this study supported the traditional two-dimensional conceptualization of loyalty, which argues that loyalty has an attitudinal and a behavioral component. Following the Investment Model, this dissertation suggested that satisfaction, quality of alternatives, and investment size were three critical antecedents of consumers' attitudinal loyalty. These theoretical relationships were supported by the present study, and collectively, the three predictors accounted for over 74 percent of the variance in attitudinal loyalty. Finally, this dissertation hypothesized that quality and value, two constructs related to loyalty, served as antecedents of satisfaction, with quality also leading to value. Results of the study supported all these hypotheses, and satisfaction was found to partially mediate the quality-attitudinal loyalty, and value-attitudinal loyalty relationships. Results of the present study provide important direction for the development of a holistic theoretical framework to explain the formation and structure of customers' brand loyalty.

Book Brand Attachment

Download or read book Brand Attachment written by C. Whan Park and published by Now Publishers Inc. This book was released on 2008 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of various literatures related to consumer search for information, and its effect on markets. Normative models of consumer search prior to purchase, and of consumer search through experience, are reviewed first. Models of consumer consideration set formation are also outlined. These models are generally based on consumers balancing the costs and benefits of search, which implies that search should be limited if it is costly. The extensive empirical literature on consumer search, which is reviewed next, does indicate that search is limited. The third major section of this review discusses the effect of search on market equilibrium, and market forces related to the supply of information. These include models of how advertising, retailing, and the Internet become organized to facilitate consumer search. The review concludes with a discussion of overall findings and suggestions for further research.
