Download or read book Monopulse Radar Theory written by and published by . This book was released on 2018-05 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are different types of radars, such as search radars, tracking radars, etc. Each of these radars has an explicit application. The main task of search radars is to detect targets at long distances and track radars main task is to follow and track the target. The main components of the radar -range search radars and precision tracking radars and tracking of important issues. The monopulse radar system is mainly used for target angle measurement and tracking. The information on the target angular position is determined by comparison of signals received in two or more simultaneous beams. In recent years, combining the monopulse technology and the wideband imaging technology has become a general trend. The wideband monopulse radars can synthesize one-dimensional high-resolution range profiles and two dimensional monopulse angle measurements to obtain three dimensional imaging of the target. Monopulse radars are widely used in target tracking systems because of their superior angular accuracy and powerful antijamming performance. The main advantage of a monopulse system in comparison to standard angle measurement methods is that it is not affected by amplitude fluctuations of the target echo because the angle information is acquired by comparing signals received by several simultaneous beams and produced by a single echo pulse. If the echo amplitude changes, it changes in the same way in all receiver channels. Monopulse Radar Theory offers engineers cutting-edge treatment of monopulse radar principles, techniques, and applications. The chapters are contributed by renowned authors and researchers dealing with the field. Including research reviews and real world examples and cases, this practical information guide describes the various forms of monopulse radar, and analyzes their capabilities and limitations. The book also intended to considerable space to monopulse circuits and hardware elements, clearing their functions and performance. This book will be a guiding tool for students, academic researchers, as well as for both experienced radar engineers and those who wish to expand their knowledge in this subject.

Download or read book Perspectives on Defense Systems Analysis written by William P. Delaney and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2023-10-31 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A guide to defense systems analysis by experts who have worked on systems that range from air defense to space defense. The Department of Defense and the military continually grapple with complex scientific, engineering, and technological problems. Defense systems analysis offers a way to reach a clearer understanding of how to approach and think about complex problems. It guides analysts in defining the question, capturing previous work in the area, assessing the principal issues, and understanding how they are linked. The goal of defense systems analysis is not necessarily to find a particular solution but to provide a roadmap to a solution, or an understanding of the relative value of alternative solutions. In this book, experts in the field—all of them with more than twenty years of experience—offer insights, advice, and concrete examples to guide practitioners in the art of defense systems analysis. The book describes general issues in systems analysis and analysis protocols in specific defense areas. It offers a useful overview of the process, a discussion of different venues, and practical advice running a study and reporting its results. It discusses red teaming (the search for vulnerabilities that might be exploited by an adversary) and its complement, blue teaming (the search for solutions to known shortcomings). It describes real-world defense systems analysis for both traditional and nontraditional areas, including air defense and ballistic missile defense systems, bioterrorism defense, space warfare, and interplanetary communications. Perspectives on Defense Systems Analysis is a very readable resource for analysts and engineers in industry, government, and research.
Download or read book Ultra Wideband Short Pulse Electromagnetics 5 written by Paul D. Smith and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-05-08 with total page 734 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fifth Conference on Ultra-Wideband Short-Pulse Electromagnetics was held in Scotland from 30 May to 2 June 2000 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. It formed part of the EUROEM 2000 International Conference under the chairmanship of David Parkes (DERA, Malvern) and Paul Smith (University of Dundee). It continued the series of international conferences that were held first at the Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, New York in 1992 and 1994, then in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1996 (as part of AMEREM ’96) and more recently in Tel-Aviv, Israel in 1998 (as part of EUROEM ’98). The purpose of these meetings is to focus on advanced technologies for the generation, radiation and detection of ultra-wideband short pulse signals, taking into account their propagation, scattering from and coupling to targets of interest; to report on developments in supporting mathematical and numerical methods; and to describe current and potential future applications of the technology.
