Book Andante E Rondo Ongarese Op 35

Download or read book Andante E Rondo Ongarese Op 35 written by Carl Maria Von Weber and published by Serenissima Music. This book was released on 2018-09-05 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First composed in 1809 as a viola showpiece for his for his step-brother Fritz, Weber's Andante et rondo ongarese remained unpublished in the composer's original settng for decades after the composer's death. In the wake of the touring composer's great success with his Clarinet Concertino of 1811 - composed for Heinrich Baermann, virtuoso clarinetist of the Munich Court Orchestra sortly after the composer's arrival there, the orchestra's bassoonist Georg Friedrich Brandt demanded a concerto for bassoon, which was premiered later the same year - again to great acclaim. In 1813 Brandt asked Weber for another bassoon concerto, so the composer reworked his earlier viola showpiece into the one for bassoon and orchestra which is the version ultimately published and generally known today. This newly engraved edition by Richard W. Sargeant, Jr. corrects the numerous mistakes that are in the parts and presents for the first time a published orchestral score using both the manuscript and the original parts as sources. Download or read book Andante E Rondo Ongarese J 79 written by Carl Maria Von Weber and published by Serenissima Music. This book was released on 2018-09-05 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written in 1809 for his step-brother Fritz for viola and orchestra, Weber's Andante e rondo ongarese was never published in the composer's lifetime. In 1813 when Georg Friedrich Brandt asked for another Bassoon Concerto, the composer reworked it featuring Bassoon as the solo instrument, which is the version published as Op.35 and the one generally known today. Using the holograph manuscript as the authoritative source, Serenissima's newly engraved edition by Richard W. Sargeant, Jr. allows conductors, students and musicians to appreciate the original version composed with a concertante viola in mind, which contrasts with the well-known Op.35 in a number of significant details. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of John Warrack's study of Weber was published in 1968 and quickly became recognized as the standard 'life and works' - indeed the best book on Weber in any language. The second edition was produced in 1976 to mark the 150th anniversary of Weber's death in London, and is reissued here. John Warrack's study gives a detailed account of the life in which the music is discussed (with analysis and music examples) in chronological order. It is a scholarly study based on first-hand research in German and other archives, but it is also elegantly written, and fully alive to general cultural and historical implications. It is a book for the music-lover as well as the scholar. This second edition contains a new concluding chapter, an important select bibliography of over 100 entries, and a useful family tree which was not in the first edition.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Saga of Toi and Me – A Memoir by Merredith F. Perkins, Ph. D. The Saga of Toi and Me — A Memoir is about our environment, family, and ancestry. It’s about how the actions of love can be influential and powerful. Saga is about taking risks and learning something that is beneath the surface of our being that makes us fight for our productive lives. It’s about being down, but getting up. It’s about harnessing a power that we found in ourselves that propelled us forward. Power. This memoir is for “mothers, daughters, fathers and sons, and families” who use their interwoven strength to struggle through circumstances of loss and love. My story is for all to read about examples of how resilience, perseverance, and the strength in each of us propels us to develop a power in handling the matters that we can control and matters that we can’t, self-power that is taught via a people support system. My survival has to be based on my power of determination to do so... and to have newly defined fun along the way. Toi has “unleashed” me to do just that. Looking back and laughing is cathartic, that is what The Saga of Toi and Me — A Memoir is all about.

Book The Bassoon

  • Author : James B. Kopp
  • Publisher : Yale University Press
  • Release : 2012-01-01
  • ISBN : 030018364X

Download or read book The Bassoon written by James B. Kopp and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2012-01-01 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This welcome volume encompasses the entire history of the bassoon, from its origins five centuries ago to its place in twenty-first-century music. James Kopp draws on new archival research and many years' experience playing the instrument to provide an up-to-date and lively portrait of today's bassoon and its intriguing predecessors. He discusses the bassoon's makers, its players, its repertory, its myths, and its audiences, all in unprecedented detail. The bassoon was invented in Italy in response to the need for a bass-register double-reed woodwind suitable for processionals and marching. Composers were quick to exploit its agility and unique timbre. Later, during the reign of Louis XIV, the instrument underwent a major redesign, giving voice to its tenor register. In the early 1800s new scientific precepts propelled a wave of invention and design modifications. In the twentieth century, the multiplicity of competing bassoon designs narrowed to a German (or Heckel) type and a French type, the latter now nearly extinct. The author examines the acoustical consequences of these various redesigns. He also offers new coverage of the bassoon's social history, including its roles in the military and church and its global use during the European Colonial period. Separate historical chapters devoted to contrabassoons and smaller bassoons complete the volume [Publisher description].
