Book Ana Ivanovic A Biography

Download or read book Ana Ivanovic A Biography written by Abdul Montaqim and published by Hyperink Inc. This book was released on 2012-02-24 with total page 41 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABOUT THE BOOK It’s official. Ana Ivanovic is the sexiest tennis player in the world. Ever. She’s also “the most beautiful.” And “the hottest female athlete on the planet.” And she has “the most beautiful body”. She’s the “best looking woman in the history of tennis.” It’s all official. She has awards to prove it. Glass cabinets full of them. She was voted for one particular award so many years in a row that the organisers decided to name the award itself after her. So, after giving her the “Sexiest Female Player” award for five years in a row, from 2005 to 2009, tennisreporters.net decided to rename it the “Ana Ivanovic Sexiest Female Player” award, and take Ana’s name off the ballot list. MEET THE AUTHOR Abdul Montaqim is a journalist, based in London, and has been working in the media since 1989. Among the more well known titles he has written for are The Guardian newspaper, Time Out magazine and the International Business Times website. He has edited a number of local and community newspapers, magazines and websites, and has, over the course of his career, worked for some of the largest publishers in Europe, including Emap, LLP and Mirror Group Newspapers. In his spare time, Abdul likes to spend time with his family, cooking, eating, watching films, listening to music, reading and writing. When he goes out he likes to watch movies at the best cinemas, see live music performances, and eat at good restaurants. He also loves gardening, fishing and going for long walks. EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK So Holzman offered financial support to Ana and her family in the form of interest-free loans. This would enable Ana to enter tournaments—such as Wimbledon 2004—that she would otherwise not have been able to. Holzman provided Ana with a laptop, mobile phone and pocket money. “I wanted her to feel like a professional from that moment on,” he said. To Ana and her family, Holzman’s support must have seemed like a lifeline from a totally different, peaceful and prosperous parallel universe. It has, presumably, played a part in Ana’s decision to now live in Switzerland. Holzman continued: “I flew to be with her at her next junior tournament in Rome. She lost in the first round, and started to cry as she left the court. She locked herself in the locker room for four hours..." Buy a copy to keep reading!

Book The Sporting Statesman Novak Djokovic and the Rise of Serbia

Download or read book The Sporting Statesman Novak Djokovic and the Rise of Serbia written by Chris Bowers and published by Kings Road Publishing. This book was released on 2014-05-08 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Novak Djokovic is not just one of the world's great tennis players - he is the defacto ambassador for his homeland, Serbia. Not an easy job, given the lingering resonance in the world's news bulletins of Serbia's role in the 1990s Yugoslav wars. To this day, the words 'Serbia' and 'atrocities' are linked in the minds of many.In this study of both Djokovic and Serbia, Chris Bowers paints two powerful portraits. He traces the story of the boy from modest surroundings, telling of how he met the woman who not only taught him tennis but how to deal with life as a high-profile icon, charts his battle with illness and his relationship with a volatile father, and how his on-court deeds have made his country proud. But he also tells the story of Serbia, pulling no punches about its role in the 1990s wars but offering a sensitive interpretation of the hopes and aspirations of a people with a troubled past.Bowers, biographer of Swiss tennis star Roger Federer and the British deputy-prime-minister Nick Clegg, weaves together these sporting and geo-political strands to present a sensitive portrait of a man and his people, and how determination married to sensitivity can create a sporting statesman.

  • Publisher : Dorrance Publishing
  • Release : 2014-09-18
  • ISBN : 1480998451

Download or read book KOSOVO KNOT written by Petar V. Grujić and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2014-09-18 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kosovo has been a troublesome region of West Balkan for the last half millennium. The latest events, which have resulted in NATO occupation of the southern province of Serbia, marked the culmination of the violence that includes both domestic and international agencies. Many authors have dealt with the Kosovo affair, but none of them endeavored to present a complete picture of the case. This book attempts to provide a broad and objective analysis of the problem from the historical, anthropological, political and sociological points of view. The emphasis is on the sociological side of the conflicts. Only by understanding the differences of the mental structures and civilizations of the populations involved can one hope to achieve a just and sustainable solution. It is shown that the Kosovo affair is a part of the perennial issue of montagnards versus plane people. This forms the background of the conflicts West Balkan has witnessed in the last decades. The Kosovo case cannot be considered isolated from the global political situation and this book provides bold, even provocative, examinations of the principal players from outside. It provides also a detailed account of the political situation in Serbia for the last half century, with a detailed account of the struggle to overthrow Milosevic’s regime.
