Download or read book They Didn t Listen They Didn t Know How written by Olwen Davies and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-09-09 with total page 805 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: They say dont judge a book by its cover, but its human nature to instinctively do it. On this cover, Ive placed a framed picture of my husband as he was in life, with the words They didnt listen, they didnt know how, indicating from where he is right now, he can see a bigger picture. I say framed because there is evidence indicating he was a diabetic, but in fact, he was suffering from something else. The back cover has a selection of photographs of him enjoying life against a background of honeycomb with the inscription Life became too sweet for me. I invite you to read on with an open mind!

Book The Acid Alkaline Lifestyle

Download or read book The Acid Alkaline Lifestyle written by Larry Trivieri, Jr. and published by Square One Publishers, Inc.. This book was released on 2015-04-07 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The human body is a truly magnificent creation. And because of its ability to regulate, balance, repair, and protect itself, the latest scientific research shows that each of us has the capacity to function well for at least one hundred and twenty years. So why do most of us only make it to our seventies? Why are so many of us afflicted with degenerative diseases? And why are the diseases that once only plagued the elderly—heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, arthritis, and cancer—now increasingly affecting our younger generations? Why does the gift of long, healthy live seem so unattainable. What is it that we are missing? In The Acid-Alkaline Lifestyle, bestselling author Larry Trivieri, Jr. and Dr. Neil Raff provide a simple solution to that very important question. For decades, physicians and medical researchers have used the body’s acid-alkaline balance, or pH levels, as a way of determining a patient’s overall health status. The problem is that the most accurate and commonly used test used to check acid-alkaline balance—the pH blood test—rarely reveals a shift away from a normal pH reading until acute, life-threatening diseases strike. And by then it is often too late to do anything. While a pH blood test may read normal, what the test does not show is what your body may be forced to do to keep it that way as it combats and seeks to compensate for the excess acidity that inside that afflicts the vast majority of us today. Left undetected, this corrosive buildup of acid set the stage for most of the disease conditions afflicting our nation today. Over the years, a number of books have appeared promoting ways to keep acid-alkaline levels in check through diet and nutrition. But to truly achieve and maintain acid-alkaline balance requires far more than diet and nutrition, alone. And now, for the first time, here is a book that lays out all of the other essential elements for creating vibrant health. The Acid-Alkaline Lifestyle is not simply another book about diet and pH. It's a book about the first and only complete and comprehensive acid-alkaline balancing program of its kind—one that goes far beyond diet and nutrition alone. What the authors have done in this book not only explains the problems caused by excess acidity, but also, and more importantly, spells out the proven safe and effective self-care methods that anyone can use to dramatically improve their health, enhance their sleep, cope with stress, and get the most out of exercise with a lot less effort—all while providing the best nutritional eating plan for balancing pH throughout the body. The Acid-Alkaline Lifestyle provides all the practical information you need to restore and maintain your health and boost your energy so that you can achieve a longer, healthier life—the way nature intended.

Book Secrets of Self Healing

Download or read book Secrets of Self Healing written by Maoshing Ni and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2008 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: East meets West in this extraordinary guide to natural healing by a prominent doctor of Chinese medicine and the author of Secrets of Longevity. Dr. Mao's philosophy is simple: We all have a built-in healing ability, so why not try to activate it with natural means before we resort to drugs and invasive procedures? For the common cold, why not exploit the power of garlic, ginger, and the herb astragalus instead of taking cold medicine that simply replaces symptoms with side effects? For insomnia, why not try to find a long-term solution through acupressure or feng shui instead of popping sleeping pills, which don't treat the source of the problem? Chinese medicine sees well-being as a result of a balanced life, not just a healthy body. In Part One of Secrets of Self-Healing, Dr. Mao explains that healing food and herbs, exercise, a positive emotional life, a suitable living environment, and spiritual growth are all essential to vitality and lasting health. Using examples of his own patients' experiences, he demonstrates: - How negative emotions can make us ill - How clutter in our homes can create imbalances in our bodies - How Eastern and Western medicine can work together to fight cancer Then, in Part Two, he reveals detailed home remedies for seventy common ailments, such as sore throat, allergies, high blood pressure, sunburn, insomnia, memory loss, and jet lag. Inspirational yet practical, Secrets of Self-Healingwill put readers on the path to a balanced and healthy life.

Book Point of care testing

  • Author : Peter Luppa
  • Publisher : Springer
  • Release : 2018-07-18
  • ISBN : 3662544970
  • Pages : 451 pages

Download or read book Point of care testing written by Peter Luppa and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-18 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The underlying technology and the range of test parameters available are evolving rapidly. The primary advantage of POCT is the convenience of performing the test close to the patient and the speed at which test results can be obtained, compared to sending a sample to a laboratory and waiting for results to be returned. Thus, a series of clinical applications are possible that can shorten the time for clinical decision-making about additional testing or therapy, as delays are no longer caused by preparation of clinical samples, transport, and central laboratory analysis. Tests in a POC format can now be found for many medical disciplines including endocrinology/diabetes, cardiology, nephrology, critical care, fertility, hematology/coagulation, infectious disease and microbiology, and general health screening. Point-of-care testing (POCT) enables health care personnel to perform clinical laboratory testing near the patient. The idea of conventional and POCT laboratory services presiding within a hospital seems contradictory; yet, they are, in fact, complementary: together POCT and central laboratory are important for the optimal functioning of diagnostic processes. They complement each other, provided that a dedicated POCT coordination integrates the quality assurance of POCT into the overall quality management system of the central laboratory. The motivation of the third edition of the POCT book from Luppa/Junker, which is now also available in English, is to explore and describe clinically relevant analytical techniques, organizational concepts for application and future perspectives of POCT. From descriptions of the opportunities that POCT can provide to the limitations that clinician’s must be cautioned about, this book provides an overview of the many aspects that challenge those who choose to implement POCT. Technologies, clinical applications, networking issues and quality regulations are described as well as a survey of future technologies that are on the future horizon. The editors have spent considerable efforts to update the book in general and to highlight the latest developments, e.g., novel POCT applications of nucleic acid testing for the rapid identification of infectious agents. Of particular note is also that a cross-country comparison of POCT quality rules is being described by a team of international experts in this field.

This book was released on 2010 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report considers the biological and behavioral mechanisms that may underlie the pathogenicity of tobacco smoke. Many Surgeon General's reports have considered research findings on mechanisms in assessing the biological plausibility of associations observed in epidemiologic studies. Mechanisms of disease are important because they may provide plausibility, which is one of the guideline criteria for assessing evidence on causation. This report specifically reviews the evidence on the potential mechanisms by which smoking causes diseases and considers whether a mechanism is likely to be operative in the production of human disease by tobacco smoke. This evidence is relevant to understanding how smoking causes disease, to identifying those who may be particularly susceptible, and to assessing the potential risks of tobacco products.
