Download or read book Tables of Spectral Lines written by A. Zaidel' and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 784 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The broad development of spectroscopy in our country and, in particular, the extensive industrial applications of methods of spectral analysis make the need for basic reference literature a pressing one. Tables of spectral lines, as basic, primary material necessary for the identifica tion of spectra, are the most important of these reference books. The need for such tables is acutely felt by all who work in spectroscopy, and numerous requests for such a book have been received by the Commission on Spectroscopy of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. On the world book market there are fairly complete tables that cover a very great number of spectral lines and that have been complied rather carefully, although they are not free of errors. Tables of this kind are undoubtedly necessary in general spectroscopic research and must be included among the reference books of large scientific institutions. But the number of workers who need such complete tables is comparatively limited. Therefore, after long discussion it was deemed impractical to republish these tables.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the time of its establishment in 1966, by the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU), the Committee on Data for Science and Technol ogy (CODATA) was given the basic mission of promoting and encouraging, on a worldwide basis, the production and distribution of compendia and of collections of critically selected numerical data on substances other forms of interest and importance to science and technology. To accomplish this aim, the following tasks were assigned to CODATA: (1) To ascertain, on a worldwide basis, what work on compilation of numerical data is being carried on in each country and under each union, and from this information, to prepare and distribute a Directory or Com pendium of the Data-Compiling Projects and Related Publications of the World; (2) To achieve coordination of existing programs and to recommend new programs; (3) To encourage, from all appropriate sources, financial support for work on compilation; (4) To encourage the use of internationally approved symbols, units, constants, terminology, and nomenclature; (5) To encourage and coordinate research on new methods for preparing and disseminating data for science and technology. In its first two years of operation, 1966 to 1968, in Washington, D. c. , U. S. A. , CODATA fortunately had as its Director Dr. GUY WADDINGTON, who was also Director of the Office of Critical Tables of the National Research Council (NRC), U. S. A. Dr.
Download or read book Tables of Spectra of Hydrogen Carbon Nitrogen and Oxygen Atoms and Ions written by Jean Gallagher and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1993-06-22 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tables of Spectra of Hydrogen, Carbon, Nitrogen, and Oxygen Atoms and Ions completely updates Charlotte E. Moore's energy levels and multiplet tables derived from analyses of optical spectra of hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. The book contains data for neutrals and for all stages of ionization. Configurations, term designations, J-values, energy levels, and ionization potentials are provided as well. The book will benefit astronomers, atomic and optical physicists, plasma physicists, and chemists.

Download or read book Systematic Materials Analysis written by J. H. Richardson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Systematic Materials Analysis, Volume III presents brief discussions on a broad range of instrumental methods and approaches that will yield the desired information about a given material. The book discusses the selection of analytical methods on the bases of specimen limitations and information desired. The chapters on specific instruments briefly outline the theories of operation and describe the capability of the methods for qualitative and quantitative measurements of chemical composition, structure, and texture (as applicable). The commercial instruments and techniques discussed include arc, spark, laser, plasmas, flame photometry, gas analysis techniques, combustion methods, gas chromatography, and ion-scattering spectrometry. The Mossbauer spectrometry; optical microscopy; x-ray diffraction; x-ray fluorescence; and absorption spectrometry are also encompassed. Materials analyst, materials scientist, chemists, and engineers will find the book invaluable.

Download or read book The Solar Spectrum written by C. de Jager and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A good deal of our information on solar physics and on solar phenomena is derived from the solar spectrum. A quantitative interpretation of this spectrum was only possible after 1920, after the establishment of Bohr's atomic model, the discovery of Saha's law, and the development of spectrophotometry. The resolving and light gathering powers of our instruments have greatly increased since. We have seen an enormous progress in our theoretical under standing of basic atomic phenomena, and of the intricate problems concerned with the transfer of energy through a complicated structure like the sun's outer layers. In particular the observable part of the solar spectrum tremen dously enlarged since the introduction, in the years after 1945, of radio astronomy, enabling us to study the solar spectrum between wavelengths of some mm to about 15 m, of space research, giving access to the whole electro magnetic spectrum below 3000 A, down to about 0. 01 A. Further, the low and high energetic components of the solar particles spectrum have been dis covered with space probes (the solar wind), rockets, balloons (the so-called sub cosmic-ray particles) and cosmic ray monitors (solar cosmic ray bursts). The extreme wealth of this spectrum, much vaster in extent than the earlier investigators could only dream of, is an important source of information. It looked appropriate to us, after the rapid development of this branch of science, ' to invite the world's leading solar physicists to Utrecht for a summa rizing symposium on the whole solar spectrum.
