Book An Introduction to the Theology of the New Testament

Download or read book An Introduction to the Theology of the New Testament written by Alan Richardson and published by . This book was released on 1958 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: `To present, in less than 400 pages (excluding the indexes), the whole sweep of New Testament thought is an excessively formidable task, calling not only for scholarship and learning but also for an artist's sense of proportion and economy of stroke. There are few who could have succeeded so well as Dr Richardson' (Journal of Theological Studies). `This book will stand for a long time as the indispensable handbook for the theological student who wants both to see the general picture of the apostolic Church's faith, and also to have a convenient and reliable digest of what the New Testament says about particular topics, such as, for example, Christology or salvation' (Church Times). `Alan Richardson is a theologian "whose praise in the gospel is (or deserves to be) in all the churches" on account both of the books which he has written himself and of those which he has edited. His latest work, An Introduction to the Theology of the New Testament, will probably be found more serviceable by students and teachers than anything he has previously produced' (Theology). Alan Richardson, who died in 1975, was for many years Professor of Christian Theology at Nottingham University and subsequently Dean of York.

Book Theology of the New Testament

Download or read book Theology of the New Testament written by Udo Schnelle and published by Baker Academic. This book was released on 2009-11-01 with total page 1089 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following his well-received Apostle Paul, prominent European scholar Udo Schnelle now offers a major new theology of the New Testament. The work has been translated into English from the original German, with bibliographic adaptations, by leading American scholar M. Eugene Boring. This comprehensive critical introduction combines historical and theological analysis. Schnelle begins with the teaching of Jesus and continues with a discussion of the theology of Paul. He then moves on to the Synoptic Gospels; the deutero-Pauline, catholic, and Johannine letters; and Revelation, paying due attention to authorship, chronology, genre, and canonical considerations. This is an essential book for anyone with a scholarly interest in the New Testament.

  • Author : Leon Morris

Download or read book New Testament Theology written by Leon Morris and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2011-03-01 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work is not a history of New Testament times, nor an account of New Testament religion. Nor does it proceed from a view that the New Testament was written as theology. We must bear in mind that the writers of the New Testament books were not writing set theological pieces. They were concerned with the needs of the churches for which they wrote. Those churches already had the Old Testament, but these new writings became in time the most significant part of the Scriptures of the believing community. As such, they should be studied in their own right, and these questions should be asked: What do these writings mean? What is the theology they express or imply? What is of permanent validity in them? We read these writings across a barrier of many centuries and from a standpoint of a very different culture. We make every effort to allow for this, but we never succeed perfectly. In this book I am trying hard to find out what the New Testament authors meant, and this not as an academic exercise, but as the necessary prelude to our understanding of what their writings mean for us today. -- From the Introduction

  • Pages : 1052 pages

Download or read book New Testament TransLine written by Michael Magill and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2008-07-18 with total page 1052 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Second Edition The republishing of the New Testament TransLine has given me the opportunity to fix all the typos that have been brought to my attention. I give thanks to all who helped by pointing out these things. In addition, I have produced the forthcoming Disciples Literal New Testament (tentative title), which is a simplified version of this book, about one third its size. It is the same translation found in this volume, but now presented in paragraph format (no outline), with interpretive section headings and a few notes. Moving the translation to paragraph format required changes to the punctuation, and these are now incorporated into this volume as well. Some improvements to the outline structure of The New Testament TransLine were also made as an outcome of viewing the text in paragraphs. May God bless you as you study His Word, and may God use these two works according to His good pleasure. In contradiction to the tenor and direction of our current world, the Word of God will stand forever as objective truth corresponding to true reality from God's point of view. It is not truth for me, or true because it works for me, but it is truth from God, and therefore truth for everyone. Michael Magill April 2008
