Download or read book Current Perspectives on Developmental Coordination Disorder DCD volume II written by Kate Wilmut and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-08-12 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) is detected in approximately 5% of children and describes a condition in which motor coordination is below the level expected given a child’s age or opportunity for learning. Children with DCD display fine and/or gross motor difficulties which persist into adulthood and cannot be better explained by a medical or neurological condition. The difficulties that individuals with DCD experience have a significant impact on activities of daily living, scholastic achievement, inter-personal relationships, and employment. Motor difficulties such as these have been poorly defined and are poorly understood by healthcare and education professionals, rendering treatments and care more difficult. European guidelines from 2012 and further revisions in 2019, have helped to clarify the diagnostic issues and there has been a significant growth in research in this field over the last four decades. A search for the topic ‘Developmental Coordination Disorder’ using Web of Science yielded 4153 publications with 69% of these published in the last 10 years alone. Despite this growth there still are pending questions in research regarding our understanding of the etiology, the co-occurrence with other developmental disorders, and the lived experience.
Download or read book Proceedings of the International Conference on Learning and Advanced Education ICOLAE 2022 written by Mauly Halwat Hikmat and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-08-29 with total page 2656 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an open access book. The COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years has influenced how educational system works. Online learning became the primal policy taken by all institutions in the world to lower the risk of the virus spread. Despite the drawbacks of the online learning, teachers and students were accustomed with the distant learning through web meetings, Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other online learning platforms. In that time, topics under digital learning and education 5.0 were the main stakes in academic disseminations. This year some institutions start to conduct their teaching and learning process classically as before the pandemic, others are still continuing online and not few are in hybrid. This leaves a question: what learning reform should be made in post-pandemic era? This conference invites researchers, experts, teachers and students to discuss the coping solutions of the question. It is important for them to contribute to the understanding of re-imaging online education for better futures, innovative learning design, new skills for living and working in new times, global challenge of education, learning and teaching with blended learning, flipped learning, integrating life skills for students in the curriculum, developing educators for the future distance learning, humanities learning in the digital era, assessment and measurement in education, challenges and transformations in education, technology in teaching and learning, new learning and teaching models. Not limited to these, scholars may add another interesting topic related to learning reform in post-pandemic era to present.

Download or read book Power and Inequality in Interpersonal Relations written by Eric Beasley and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-08 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores interpersonal situations in which weak or vulnerable people find themselves and the ways in which others help create, sustain, and eradicate such social dynamics. Vladimir Shlapentokh and Eric Beasley demonstrate that people can gain power over each other and then abuse this power because of unequal resource conditions. The authors define resources as the means necessary for satisfaction or achievement of needs or goals, such as wealth, physical strength, intellectual capacity and information, sexual attractiveness, and status. This volume is different from existing social science books on inequality and vulnerability, which address relations between people of different social positions, races, genders, ages, and places of residence confronting each other in political, economic, and cultural battles. This book focuses on people who become the victims of those whom they know personally-relatives, colleagues, neighbors. The authors argue that unequal resource distribution among members of social units is the main cause of conflict and ultimately creates situations where members of a social unit can abuse other members of the same unit.
