Book Wind Turbine Design

Download or read book Wind Turbine Design written by Ion Paraschivoiu and published by Presses inter Polytechnique. This book was released on 2002 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The depletion of global fossil fuel reserves combined with mounting environmental concerns has served to focus attention on the development of ecologically compatible and renewable alternative sources of energy. Wind energy, with its impressive growth rate of 40% over the last five years, is the fastest growing alternate source of energy in the world since its purely economic potential is complemented by its great positive environmental impact. The wind turbine, whether it may be a Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT) or a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT), offers a practical way to convert the wind energy into electrical or mechanical energy. Although this book focuses on the aerodynamic design and performance of VAWTs based on the Darrieus concept, it also discusses the comparison between HAWTs and VAWTs, future trends in design and the inherent socio-economic and environmental friendly aspects of wind energy as an alternate source of energy.

Book Wind tunnel Investigation to Determine the Horizontal and Vertical tail Contributions to the Static Lateral Stability Characteristics of a Complete model Swept wing Configuration at High Subsonic Speeds

Download or read book Wind tunnel Investigation to Determine the Horizontal and Vertical tail Contributions to the Static Lateral Stability Characteristics of a Complete model Swept wing Configuration at High Subsonic Speeds written by James W. Wiggins and published by . This book was released on 1956 with total page 692 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation was conducted in the Langley high-speed 7- by 10-foot tunnel to determine the horizontal- and vertical-tail contributions to the static lateral stability of a complete-model swept-wing configuration at high subsonic speeds. The results indicate that, in a general, Mach number effects within the range studied and wing effects on the tail contribution were small and the overall trends of the data of the present investigation agreed with those which have been established at low speeds.

Book Engineering Fluid Dynamics 2019 2020

Download or read book Engineering Fluid Dynamics 2019 2020 written by Bjørn H. Hjertager and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-02-25 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the successful submissions to a Special Issue of Energies entitled “Engineering Fluid Dynamics 2019–2020”. The topic of engineering fluid dynamics includes both experimental and computational studies. Of special interest were submissions from the fields of mechanical, chemical, marine, safety, and energy engineering. We welcomed original research articles and review articles. After one-and-a-half years, 59 papers were submitted and 31 were accepted for publication. The average processing time was about 41 days. The authors had the following geographical distribution: China (15); Korea (7); Japan (3); Norway (2); Sweden (2); Vietnam (2); Australia (1); Denmark (1); Germany (1); Mexico (1); Poland (1); Saudi Arabia (1); USA (1); Serbia (1). Papers covered a wide range of topics including analysis of free-surface waves, bridge girders, gear boxes, hills, radiation heat transfer, spillways, turbulent flames, pipe flow, open channels, jets, combustion chambers, welding, sprinkler, slug flow, turbines, thermoelectric power generation, airfoils, bed formation, fires in tunnels, shell-and-tube heat exchangers, and pumps.

Book The Electrodynamometric Balance of the Small Wind Tunnel of the French Service of Aeronautical Research

Download or read book The Electrodynamometric Balance of the Small Wind Tunnel of the French Service of Aeronautical Research written by P. Rebuffet and published by . This book was released on 1930 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This investigation shows the attempt to improve the electrodynamomoter designed by Mr. Villey. The force to be measured acts on a flexible steel plate which is placed in front of a fixed plate. The deformation varies the original thickness of the layer of air between the two plates, thus causing a more rapid variation in the coefficient of electrostatic attraction of the two plates than in the capacity of the condenser formed by the dynamometer. The measurements are made by a differential method. The capacity of the test dynamometer is compared with that of a similar instrument of constant capacity, this comparison being made by means of an electrometer. Diagrams are shown of the dynamometer, the electrometer, and the electrical connections.
