Book A Comprehensive Guide to Rifle Ammunition Vol 2 Of 2

Download or read book A Comprehensive Guide to Rifle Ammunition Vol 2 Of 2 written by Paul F. Kisak and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-02-15 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rifle Ammunition (commonly shortened to ammo) is propellant and projectile, or broadly anything that can be used in combat and fired from a rifled firearm. The purpose of ammunition is to project force against a selected target. However, the nature of ammunition use also includes delivery or combat supporting munitions such as pyrotechnic or incendiary compounds. Since the design of the cartridge, the meaning has been transferred to the assembly of a projectile and its propellant in a single package. Ammunition involves the application of fire to targets, general use of weapons by personnel, explosives and propellants, cartridge systems, high explosive projectiles (HE), warheads, shaped charge forms of attack on armour and aircraft, carrier projectiles, fuzes, mortar ammunition, small arms ammunition, grenades, mines, pyrotechnics, improved conventional munitions, and terminally guided munition. A "round" is a term synonymous with a single cartridge containing a projectile, propellant, primer and casing. This book focuses on the rifle cartridge, its history, dimensions, construction, assembly and use. This volume 2 of 2 focuses on 150 Cartridges larger than 50 cal. Including Metric Cartridges. You can purchase volume 1 which discusses 132 rounds under 39 caliber at https: //www.createspace.com/ 6098488.

Book The Science of Small Arms Ballistics

Download or read book The Science of Small Arms Ballistics written by Alvah Buckmore, Jr. and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-07-17 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The science of small arms ballistics is seriously underdeveloped and underappreciated. This unique and different book is a comprehensive study that fills a legitimate need for a work that covers the engineering and theory of small arms ballistics. The author shares his extensive research on working out the science of small arm ballistics mathematically and explains his theories, such as the field-effect and the field-effect over trajectory and time, along with new theories on interior, exterior, and terminal ballistics. Each equation describes a mathematical relationship, such as transfer of energy, and has an engineering application to help solve a design problem. Some equations, such as the calculation of bullet length with a given muzzle velocity and rate of twist, represent manipulations of those equations. Some other equations represent a set of mathematical instructions to resolve a technical problem, such as the computation of trajectory or depth of penetration of living tissue in real-time.

Book TOP GUNS Ammunition Ballistics Explosives and Survival Preparedness Manual

Download or read book TOP GUNS Ammunition Ballistics Explosives and Survival Preparedness Manual written by Paul F. Kisak and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2014-10-01 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Top Guns(tm) manual is in the 5th edition and was created and reviewed by experts in their field. The manual is easy to read and use. With the Top Guns(tm) manual you can educate yourself and become an expert in the field of practical ballistics. The "Top Guns (tm)" Ammunition, Ballistics, Explosives & Survivor Preparedness Manual is used to compare and understand the performance and design characteristics of numerous popular rounds of ammunition & explosives. The "TOP GUNS (tm) Manual explains the following: 1.) The background, notes, assumptions and formulas used when calculating the ballistic characteristics. 2.) The individual tables of characteristics for each round based on the values listed such as bullet weight, cartridge charge and powder type. The ballistic calculations involve a variety of equations that seek to predict the behavior and characteristics of the round being fired. The ballistic equations are divided into 1.) Internal Ballistics and 2.) External Ballistics. 3.) A Chart of Gun Powder Burn Rates & Sniper & Downrange cards 4.) An Overview of Explosives 5.) Several Emergency & Survival Preparedness Guides There are nearly 10,000 different kinds of firearms being used in over 150 countries the origins of which date back to the 1600's. These firearms all have one thing in common. The firearm is a complex balance of chemistry, physics, optics, metallurgy and ergonomics. These fields of science are used to design an efficient handheld device that has the metallurgy utilized in such a manner that the firearm barrel and mechanics can withstand the chemical explosion of the gunpowder and propel a round down range in a manner accurate enough to hit a target. This same firearm must also employ the physics of ballistics that produces a bullet that leaves the barrel with the correct amount of spin in order to stabilize the bullet in flight. The firearm must also have a design that employs the exacting physics that allows the energy and pressure of the chemical explosion to propel the bullet through the rifled barrel, use this same energy to eject the casing, cycle the action and repeat this thousands of times using a frame that is lightweight and convenient to aim and carry. The optics must be such that it allows the human eye to focus on a point down-range, usually in order to deliver a bullet reliably on target, whenever needed. All of the above, involve extensive functional decomposition, mathematical modeling and ballistics calculations and testing, in order to produce a reliable mass-produced weapon. Ballistic calculations involve a variety of equations that seek to predict the behavior and characteristics of the round being fired. The equations are usually divided into 1.) Internal Ballistics 2.) Transitional Ballistics 3.) External Ballistics and 4. Terminal Ballistics. The Top Guns (tm) Manual will educate you on the ballistics, the calculations and terms used in designing ammunition.

Book Textbook of Pistols and Revolvers

Download or read book Textbook of Pistols and Revolvers written by Julian S. Hatcher and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2015-01-27 with total page 715 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1935, Textbook of Pistols and Revolvers is a treatise on handguns of the early twentieth century. Written by Major Julian S. Hatcher, an expert on the subject of firearms of all sorts, readers will gain invaluable insight into everything to do with handheld firearms of the 1930s. In his introduction, Hatcher emphasizes that he has made an earnest effort to make this book accessible for both novices and experts. Novices who know nothing whatsoever about firearms and their use can easily learn from this book, while experts will find a technical reference book where “the results of many experiments with pistols and revolvers and their ammunition are tabulated in convenient form.” Covering such subjects as the different methods of shooting and using hand firearms; their mechanism, care and repair; their interior and exterior ballistics; the peculiar suitability of the different kinds for various purposes; the relative effectiveness or stopping power of the various calibers and types of gun and ammunition; and many more, this book is an immense store of knowledge on early handguns. Skyhorse Publishing is proud to publish a broad range of books for hunters and firearms enthusiasts. We publish books about shotguns, rifles, handguns, target shooting, gun collecting, self-defense, archery, ammunition, knives, gunsmithing, gun repair, and wilderness survival. We publish books on deer hunting, big game hunting, small game hunting, wing shooting, turkey hunting, deer stands, duck blinds, bowhunting, wing shooting, hunting dogs, and more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to publishing books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked by other publishers and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.
