Book Inspection Evaluation and Repair of Hydraulic Steel Structures

Download or read book Inspection Evaluation and Repair of Hydraulic Steel Structures written by and published by . This book was released on 2001-12-01 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manual describes the inspection, evaluation, and repair of hydraulic steel structures, including preinspection identification of critical locations (such as fracture critical members and various connections) that require close examination. Nondestructive testing techniques that may be used during periodic inspections or detailed structural inspections are discussed. Guidance is provided on material testing to determine the chemistry, strength, ductility, hardness, and toughness of the base and weld metal. Analyses methods that can be used to determine structure safety, safe inspection intervals, and expected remaining life of the structure with given operational demands are presented. Finally, considerations for various types of repair are discussed.

Book Design of Hydraulic Steel Structures

Download or read book Design of Hydraulic Steel Structures written by United States Army Corps of Engineers and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manual prescribes guidance for designing hydraulic steel structures (HSS) by load and resistance factor design (LRFD) and guidance for fracture control. Allowable stress design (ASD) guidance is provided as an alternative design procedure or for those structure types where LRFD criteria have yet to be developed. Typical HSS are lock gates, tainter gates, tainter valves, bulkheads and stoplogs, vertical lift gates, components of hydroelectric and pumping plants, and miscellaneous structures such as lock wall accessories, local flood protection gates, and outlet works gates. HSS may be subject to submergence, wave action, hydraulic hammer, cavitation, impact, corrosion, and severe climatic conditions.

Book Hand Book For Steel Structure Quality Control on Site

Download or read book Hand Book For Steel Structure Quality Control on Site written by Mohamed Abdallah El-Reedy and published by . This book was released on 2020-04-04 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to be a hand book for any structure, civil, mechanical engineer and project engineer who is working in the steel structure projects. As it is the main issue in mind for any civil or mechanical engineer during construction on site for steel structure projects is how to control the construction quality and specific for receiving steel materials, bolted and welded connections. Because in most college specific for civil engineering has no more details about welding and how to inspect the defects of the steel materials and also on the welding. The structural engineer who will provide the detailed drawings and the shop drawings for the construction, he is usually has a confusion about the welding symbol, so there will be a complete chapter to be with his hand during the drawings preparation or to read the drawings by best ways on site. The types of defects of the welding will be illustrated and how to read the radiographic photos and to determine the type of defects and what is the best method of nondestructive test that should be used. This book is tailored to be on hand book to cover the major subjects of the steel quality control onsite and the ways of inspection as the visual inspection, radiographic test, ultrasonic test, dry penetration and magnetic particle test.
