Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many of us live out flat, marginalized and ineffectual Christian lives. We fall achingly short of intimately connecting with and deeply interjecting the truths of scripture into the everyday realities of our lives, as we live them out amidst the incessant demands and tangled complexities of the 21st century. We therefore miss a sweeping and torrential infusion of what God intends for our lives. Because we miss it, we are left abysmally poorer when that need not be the case. An Intimate Collision arises out of the belief that people sense there to be a far greater reality to our portrayal of God and the Christian life than that which we have grasped.

Book excerpt: A new edition of this spiritual classic with a preface by Stephan Bodian, friend of the late author and the original editor of Collision with the Infinite. Stephan writes: "Since the book first appeared in 1996, spiritual awakening and the nondual perspective it reveals have become increasingly popular among seekers who realize the limitations of progressive practices and want more immediate access to the limitless openness and freedom of their essential nature. At the same time, a number of teachers have emerged who point directly to this truth and invite their students to inquire into their experience, rest in awareness, and realize the truth for themselves. Long before these resources were readily available, Suzanne had a powerful awakening that completely obliterated the illusion of a separate self. But in 1982 she could find no one to guide her through the process, and as a result she spent years in fear, wandering from therapist to therapist, desperately trying to cure herself of being no one, because no one in her world knew what to make of her experience. After a dozen years in the wilderness of what she describes as a spiritual wintertime, she emerged into the radiant springtime of full nondual realization. Because she awoke without a teacher or tradition, and her understanding was so complete, her detailed descriptions of how the vastness functions through these body-minds to realize itself in form are original, and fresh from their source. I'm thrilled to have this spiritual classic back in print, after years of languishing in obscurity. Now I can begin recommending it to my students once again and share with them the clarity of her vision. As I say in the afterword, Suzanne never pretended to be a teacher, preferring instead to call herself a describer of what it's like to live as the vastness. In this profound and articulate memoir, she chronicles her journey, and in the process transmits the wisdom that revealed itself to her." Editorial reviews "Collision with the Infinite is like a diamond on fire with living spirit, and a testament to the strange and wonderful ways that spiritual awakening can unpredictably burst forth in any one of us at any time. Read this book as what it has always been, a modern-day revelation of how spiritual presence came alive in one extraordinarily ordinary woman, and how she embodied it like the sky embodies a shooting star." -Adyashanti "A fascinating, deeply moving account of a powerful spiritual opening and the ensuing process of understanding and integration. The book dispels some of our most cherished myths about spiritual awakening-especially that it is a blissful and easy process. Awakening is not the end of the path, but the beginning of a sometimes difficult journey." -Steve Taylor Ph.D., author of The Leap: The Psychology of Spiritual Awakening

Book Collision Course with God

Download or read book Collision Course with God written by Robert Foust and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether your teen is a slight problem or a nightmare, you can learn from my experiences raising a teenage sociopath. There is always hope, with Gods help. God can give you peace, even when your life is in chaos. In light of recent events, Americans are looking more at the complex reasons that cause shootings. A significant number place the blame with parents not paying enough attention to their children, and of course, mental illness. It has been shown from previous shootings that usually these young people feel like outsiders because they dont have a peer groups respect and support, and they felt unloved at home. Love is one primary inhibitor to bad behavior. I show in my book that there are three primary inhibitors that will make a difference with the behavior of most children. With our complicated lives, all the distractions and demands on each of us, we have to make the most of the time we have with our children. If the influence of the three primary inhibitors is not being felt by your children, then they may not have moral restraints to prevent bad choices.

Book Kinetics of Ion Molecule Reactions

Download or read book Kinetics of Ion Molecule Reactions written by Pierre J. Ausloos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 507 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The investigation of the elementary reactions of reactive intermediate species began about half a centruy ago with the advent of free radical kinetics as an active area of chemical research. In spite of the relatively greater ease of detection of a species carrying an electrical charge, and the fact that organic chemists had for decades postulated mechanisms involving ionic intermediates, the systematic study of the elementary reactions of ions was delayed for more than twenty years after the first beginnings of free radical kinetics. Even at this writing, in 1978, the word "kinetics" is considered by many chemists to be synomomous with "kinetics of neutral species". Yet in spite of the relatively late start and separation from the mainstream of kinetics, the field of ion physics and chemistry is fluorishing, and growing at an ever faster pace. Instrumentalists devise ever more sophisticated apparatuses with capabilities of delving into nearly every aspect of the interactions between ions and molecules. Even satellites orbiting the earth are now being used effectively to determine rate coefficients of ionospheric ion-neutral reactions, some of which can not as yet be measured in the laboratory.

Book Progress in Reaction Kinetics

Download or read book Progress in Reaction Kinetics written by K. R. Jennings and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-06 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in Reaction Kinetics, Volume 6 covers various aspects of kinetics. It presents quantitative data on the reaction rates observed in hydrocarbon-active nitrogen systems, noble gases, acids and bases, and rare gas metastable atoms. Comprised of six chapters, the volume begins by discussing the reactions of nitrogen atoms with hydrocarbons. It then illustrates the development of flash protolysis techniques and moves on to chemi-ionization and chemical applications of rare gases. The text concludes by describing salt and medium effects in ionic reactions in aqueous solutions. Students and scientists who wish to increase their understanding of reactions occurring in various chemical reaction systems will find this volume invaluable.

Book Coherence in Atomic Collision Physics

Download or read book Coherence in Atomic Collision Physics written by H.J. Beyer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last two decades the experimental investigation of atomic coherence phenomena has made rapid progress. Detailed studies have been performed of angular correlations, spin polarization effects, angular momen tum transfer, and the alignment parameters which characterize the charge cloud of excited atoms. The enormous growth in the number of these investigations was made possible through substantial development and application of new experimental technology, the development of sophisti cated theoretical models and numerical methods, and a fine interplay between theory and experiment. This interplay has resulted in a deeper understanding of the physical mechanisms of atomic collision processes. It is the purpose of the chapters in this book to provide introductions for nonspecialists to the various fields of this area as well as to present new experimental and theoretical results and ideas. The interest in spin-dependent interactions in electron-atom scattering has a long history; it dates back to the early investigations of Mott in 1929. While the more traditional measurements in this field were concerned with the determination of spin polarization and asymmetries, the range of investi gations has been expanded enormously during the last few years and now includes many observables sensitive to one or more of the various spin dependent interactions. The understanding of these effects requires a theoretical description of the orientation and alignment parameters of the target atoms, of the forma tion of resonances, of the influence of electron-exchange processes, and of the relativistic interactions inside the atom and between projectile and target.
