The five-case noun system is introduced early in the discussion, and syntax material is coordinated with Winberry and Brooks' Syntax of New Testament Greek. Book The Church as Paradise and the Way Therein Early Christian Appropriation of Genesis 3 22 24

Download or read book The Church as Paradise and the Way Therein Early Christian Appropriation of Genesis 3 22 24 written by Christopher A. Graham and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2017-04-24 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Church as Paradise and the Way Therein: Early Christian Appropriation of Genesis 3:22–24, Christopher A. Graham demonstrates that early Christian authors employed the words “paradise” and “way” as allusions to the expulsion narrative (Genesis 3:22–24) to signify that the benefits available in protological Paradise were once again accessible in and through Jesus and the Church. The centrality of the expulsion narrative in their literary milieus gave these authors confidence that readers would discern these allusions. After considering the reception of the expulsion in texts circulating within the early Christian milieu, Graham turns to the texts of Luke and Irenaeus of Lyons. Both authors drew from an interpretive tradition in which a return to Paradise was desirable. Both celebrated Jesus's reversal of Adam's expulsion and the constitution of Jesus's followers as the location and means by which humanity could continue to access divine truth and life. For both authors, the Church is Paradise and the way therein.

Download or read book Preaching written by John F. MacArthur and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2005-08-21 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many sermons preached today lack the divine knowledge and spiritual understanding available only through dynamic expository preaching. In Preaching: How to Preach Biblically, John MacArthur’' well-known passion for the Bible combines with the expertise of faculty members at The Master's Seminary to inspire and equip preachers in effective biblical preaching. Preaching: How to Preach Biblically flows from biblical foundations for expository preaching through a detailed process of developing expositions and creating sermons to the actual delivery of expository messages, connecting what pastors learn in seminary with the sermons preached in a local church. This volume shows how to progress purposefully from one phase to the next in preparing to minister to God's people through preaching. This book answers these questions and more: What is expository, biblical preaching? What are the theological and historical foundations for insisting on expository preaching? What are the steps involved in preparation for and participation in biblical preaching? What models exist for expository preaching today? The Master's Seminary faculty, with over thirty years' experience in preaching and seminary training of preachers, contributes a treasury of expertise alongside insights from expositor John MacArthur. While united on their commitment to exposition, the variety of individual expressions and methodological preferences discussed offers beneficial assistance for any preacher seeking a higher level of expository excellence.

Book Understanding Mark s Gospel

Download or read book Understanding Mark s Gospel written by Mark J. Keown and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2021-12-17 with total page 402 pages. Designed as a textbook, it includes eleven lessons on Mark’s Gospel. The first lesson covers background issues important for understanding Mark. The Gospel is then divided into ten sections, each forming a lesson. After reading the biblical passages, students can read each lesson and get a succinct commentary with exegetical insights on the Markan passages. Each lesson ends with questions that can be discussed by readers. All Greek is transliterated, and the book is an excellent and simple introduction to Mark’s Gospel.
