Book An Experimental Study on Performance of Diesel Engine Operating with Waste Tire and Waste Plastic Derived Fuel

Download or read book An Experimental Study on Performance of Diesel Engine Operating with Waste Tire and Waste Plastic Derived Fuel written by Mohd. Herzwan Hamzah and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis presents the experimental study on the performance of single cylinder diesel engine operating with tire derived fuel (TDF), TDF-diesel fuel blends and also plastic derived fuel (PDF). The objectives of this project is to determine the fuel properties of TDF, TDF-diesel fuel blends and PDF, evaluating the performance of TDF and PDF when used in diesel engine and also to investigate the effect when several blend ratios between TDF and diesel fuel are used. The performance testing is conducted using a single cylinder engine test rig operating with variable engine speed and constant load exerted to the engine. The diesel engine is equipped with hydraulic dynamometer and necessary sensors to collect and measure the desired data. The parameters that were measured during testing include engine torque, power, combustion pressure and exhaust emissions. The obtained data for all tested fuels are compared to diesel fuel performance data. Then, the properties of all tested fuels are also determined. Six samples of tested fuels are prepared where TDF is blended with diesel fuel at three different ratios which is 10%, 30% and 50% together with 100% unblended TDF, PDF and diesel fuel. The PDF that used is 100% not blended with any other fuel. The comparison between TDF, TDF-diesel fuel blends and diesel fuel shows that TDF-diesel fuel blends produce higher power and torque compared to TDF and diesel fuel. Among tested blend ratio, TDF10% yield highest power and torque compared to other tested fuel. When the TDF blend ratio increases, the power and torque decreases. For cylinder pressure, TDF50% produce highest peak pressure compared to other tested fuels. When the TDF blend ratio decrease, the peak pressure will decrease. For emission, diesel fuel produce lowest COx and NOx emission level compared to other tested fuels while TDF10% produce closest emission level to diesel fuel. PDF produce lowest power, torque and peak pressure compared to TDF and diesel fuel. PDF also produce lowest NOx and CO emission level compared to TDF and diesel fuel. From the results that were obtained in the experiment, it is concluded that TDF and PDF can be used in diesel engine. However, TDF is not suitable for high speed application since it will cause backfires. Blending process between TDF and diesel fuel enhance the properties of TDF thus producing better performance. From the results obtained, TDF10% produced most optimum performance output compared to the other test fuels.

This book was released on 2013 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis deals with alternative Tire Pyrolysis Oil (TPO) and diesel fuel that will be use to find out the different performance on single cylinder diesel engine by both fuels. The objective of this thesis is to find out the performance of single cylinder diesel engine in term of torque and power and also to find out the fuel consumption of each fuel. Engine use is YANMAR TF120M that has maximum 12 hp. The thesis then describe on how doing the experiment. Performance of the engine experiment is doing by several engine speeds and the performance of torque and power will be find out automatically by using TFX software. The fuel consumption is measure by calculating the volume flow rate of the fuel by time. By getting this result, the comparison between both fuels can be made and then will figure out either TPO can replace diesel fuel or not in future. The properties of each fuel are figure out either it will affect t he performance or not. In diesel fuel engine there are commonly problem that can be occur which is knocking effect and ignition delay. This thesis then will explain detail about the effect of this problem to performance of diesel engine.

Book Feedstock Recycling of Plastic Wastes

Download or read book Feedstock Recycling of Plastic Wastes written by Jose Aguado and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of plastic materials has seen a massive increase in recent years, and generation of plastic wastes has grown proportionately. Recycling of these wastes to reduce landfill disposal is problematic due to the wide variation in properties and chemical composition among the different types of plastics. Feedstock recycling is one of the alternatives available for consideration, and Feedstock Recycling of Plastic Wastes looks at the conversion of plastic wastes into valuable chemicals useful as fuels or raw materials. Looking at both scientific and technical aspects of the recycling developments, this book describes the alternatives available. Areas include chemical depolymerization, thermal processes, oxidation and hydrogenation. Besides conventional treatments, new technological approaches for the degradation of plastics, such as conversion under supercritical conditions and coprocessing with coal are discussed. This book is essential reading for those involved in plastic recycling, whether from an academic or industrial perspective. Consultants and government agencies will also find it immensely useful.

Book Feedstock Recycling and Pyrolysis of Waste Plastics

Download or read book Feedstock Recycling and Pyrolysis of Waste Plastics written by John Scheirs and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-05-12 with total page 824 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pyrolysis is a recycling technique converting plastic waste into fuels, monomers, or other valuable materials by thermal and catalytic cracking processes. It allows the treatment of mixed, unwashed plastic wastes. For many years research has been carried out on thermally converting waste plastics into useful hydrocarbons liquids such as crude oil and diesel fuel. Recently the technology has matured to the point where commercial plants are now available. Pyrolysis recycling of mixed waste plastics into generator and transportation fuels is seen as the answer for recovering value from unwashed, mixed plastics and achieving their desired diversion from landfill. This book provides an overview of the science and technology of pyrolysis of waste plastics. It describes the types of plastics that are suitable for pyrolysis recycling, the mechanism of pyrolytic degradation of various plastics, characterization of the pyrolysis products and details of commercially mature pyrolysis technologies. This book also covers co-pyrolysis technology, including: waste plastic/waste oil, waste plastics/coal, and waste plastics/rubber.

Book Clean Energy Opportunities in Tropical Countries

Download or read book Clean Energy Opportunities in Tropical Countries written by Shaharin A. Sulaiman and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-21 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights the present scenario of energy demand and power generation technologies in tropical countries. The tropics are well known to receive direct sunlight. Furthermore, different than four-season countries, tropical countries have a continuous summer-like season, and therefore, they are rich in clean energy sources, like solar and biomass. Home to 40% of the world’s population, the demand for energy in these countries keeps increasing. With the present serious global concern on the environment, the choice of power generation is no doubt the cleanest possible resources. This book delves into the opportunity that various tropical countries have in pursuing environmentally friendly power generation systems.
