Book U S Trends in Short Staple Spinning

Download or read book U S Trends in Short Staple Spinning written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this research has been to examine possible factors which effect yarn production and prices in the U.S. The research approach first involved gathering the data from different sources about yarn production and prices. Second, data was gathered about the different factors which could have an effect on these. These factors included enduse demand, cotton consumption, the effect of spinning systems, labor cost and demand, machinery hours and shipments, and the level of imports and exports. Third, the data was compared and conclusions were made based solely on the obvious trends in the data. Fourth, current situations in the textile market were examined in order to conclude if any have had an effect on yarn production and price. The main issues which are facing the textile industry and were included in this analysis were NAFTA, CBI, Asia and the WTO. The effect that these have had and will have on the spinning industry was examined in detail. Fifth, a statistical analysis was conducted. The analysis included the use of a correlation matrix for both yarn production levels and yarn prices in order to see which factors statistically had the strongest impact on these. Overall, this research offers a view into the inside of the U.S. spinning industry, including the dynamics which effect final yarn production levels and yarn prices, as well as situations which will have an impact on the future of the spinning industry.

Book Yarn Tension Variations During Spinning

Download or read book Yarn Tension Variations During Spinning written by Goodarz Afshari and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over recent decades many workers have studied the tensions which occur in yarns as they are being spun, especially in ring spinning and more recently in open-end spinning. In virtually all the reports known to the present author the theoretical studies have been limited to idealized steady-state conditions and experimental work has been conducted in such a manner that only low-frequency variations in tension were observed and commented upon despite the fact that many of the experimental set-ups would have been capable of monitoring much higher frequency variations with only slight modifications. This is particularly true of the tension transducers and their associated electronics whose wide frequency range has usually been degraded by the use of analogue meters and pen recorders as the output devices. The present thesis is an account of an experimental investigation of the tension variations in both ring and open-end spinning in which the instrumentation as a whole was possessed of a much wider frequency range. The tension transducer was a piezo electric device having an acceptable frequency response in excess of 10 KHz and the output was observed using a U.-V. recorder and an oscilloscope and analysed with the aid of a variety of instruments, the principal one being a spectrum analyser. It was observed that the principal frequency component in the tension spectrum has a frequency equal to the rotational speed of the spinning system and that this is invariably much more pronounced in the case of ring spinning than in open-end spinning. In ring spinning the tension spectrum also contains many harmonic components which are absent or very small in open-end spinning. The effects of a variety of machine parameters and imperfections such as speed, traveller weight and spindle- to-ring eccentricity on the tension spectrum were also investigated.

Book Textile Sizing

Download or read book Textile Sizing written by Bhuvenesh C. Goswami and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2004-02-13 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Helping you keep pace with rapid developments in the field, Textile Sizing documents the rapidly changing scenario in textile processing and research in sizing. The authors analyze new fibers, spinning methods, and weaving techniques affecting textile production and studies the impact of fiber properties, yarn quality, sizing processes and materials, and chemical and mechanical phenomena on efficient textile manufacturing and development. Numerous tables dispersed throughout the text provide specific guidance on the wide range of processes involved in textile sizing. Illustrating the necessity and value of sizing techniques in the modern textile industry, this reference helps you Predict the efficiency of their sizing methods Master process controls, warping and sizing operations, and modern instrumentation techniques Analyze developments in draw warping and system sizing for reduction of operating costs Understand the importance of desizing and its effect on size recovery and environmental pollution Study the behavior of the warp during weaving and the structural differences between various yarns Textile Sizing is invaluable for physical, surface, colloid, textile, materials, polymer, plastics, and fiber chemists; industrial, manufacturing, textile, fiber, and composite engineers; and upper-level undergraduate and graduate students in these disciplines.

Book Advances in Yarn Spinning Technology

Download or read book Advances in Yarn Spinning Technology written by C A Lawrence and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2010-09-27 with total page 465 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an invaluable single source of information on the advances in yarn spinning technologies. Advanced spinning systems are described and comparisons are made of the properties of the yarns produced, and resultant finished products, with those from conventional systems.Part one provides an introduction to yarn fibre spinning and structure. Chapters discuss the principles of ring spinning and open-end spinning of yarns. Yarn structure and properties from different spinning techniques and yarn structural requirements for knitted and woven fabrics are also examined. Part two covers advances in particular yarn spinning technologies. Topics range from siro spinning to compact spinning technology and air-jet spinning. Final chapters explore how to minimise fibre damage which occur during spinning and the use of spin finishes for textiles. With its distinguished editor and array of international contributors, Advances in yarn spinning technology is an important text for spinners, yarn manufacturers and fabric producers, as well as researchers, technicians, engineers and technologists in this sector of the textile industry. - Documents advances in spinning technologies and presents comparisons between systems - Assesses particular textile spinning technologies with specific chapters focusing on siro, compact, rotor, friction and air-jet spinning - Reviews measures to minimise fibre damage caused by spinning are investigated with specific relevance to rotor and friction spinning
