Download or read book An Experimental Investigation of Two phase Two component Flow in a Horizontal Converging diverging Nozzle written by Joseph A. Vogrin and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A discussion is presented of an investigation of the flow characteristics in a horizontal, converging-diverging nozzle for a two-phase, air- water system. The primary consideration, to determine the effects of accelerating the liquid phase by the gaseous phase, was measured in terms of nozzle exit water velocity, exit slip ratio, and exit acceleration factor. A gamma-ray-attenuation technique was used to determine these values by determining the average cross-sectional void fraction, the ratio of gas volume to total volume, for the air-water mixture.

Download or read book Multiphase Flow Dynamics 1 written by Nikolay Ivanov Kolev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-06-04 with total page 789 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multi-phase flows are part of our natural environment such as tornadoes, typhoons, air and water pollution and volcanic activities as well as part of industrial technology such as power plants, combustion engines, propulsion systems, or chemical and biological industry. The industrial use of multi-phase systems requires analytical and numerical strategies for predicting their behavior. In its third extended edition this monograph contains theory, methods and practical experience for describing complex transient multi-phase processes in arbitrary geometrical configurations, providing a systematic presentation of the theory and practice of numerical multi-phase fluid dynamics. In the present first volume the fundamentals of multiphase dynamics are provided. This third edition includes various updates, extensions and improvements in all book chapters.

Download or read book Heat Transfer XIII written by B. Sundén and published by WIT Press. This book was released on 2014-07-02 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heat Transfer XIII: Simulation and Experiments in Heat and Mass Transfer contains the proceedings of the thirteenth conference in the well established series on Simulation and Experiments in Heat Transfer and its applications. Advances in computational methods for solving and understanding heat transfer problems continue to be important because heat transfer topics and related phenomena are commonly of a complex nature and different mechanisms like heat conduction, convection, turbulence, thermal radiation and phase change as well as chemical reactions may occur simultaneously. Typically, applications are found in heat exchangers, gas turbine cooling, turbulent combustion and fires, fuel cells, batteries, micro- and mini- channels, electronics cooling, melting and solidification, chemical processing etc. Heat Transfer might be regarded as an established and mature scientific discipline, but it has played a major role in new emerging areas such as sustainable development and reduction of greenhouse gases as well as for micro- and nano- scale structures and bioengineering. Non-linear phenomena other than momentum transfer may occur due to temperature-dependent thermophysical properties. In engineering design and development, reliable and accurate computational methods are requested to replace or complement expensive and time consuming experimental trial an error work. Tremendous advancements have been achieved during recent years due to improved numerical solution methods for non-linear partial differential equations, turbulence modelling advancements and developments of computers and computing algorithms to achieve efficient and rapid simulations. Nevertheless, to further progress in computational methods requires developments in theoretical and predictive procedures – both basic and innovative – and in applied research. Accurate experimental investigations are needed to validate the numerical calculations. Topics covered include: Heat transfer in energy producing devices; Heat transfer enhancements; Heat exchangers; Natural and forced convection and radiation; Multiphase flow heat transfer; Modelling and experiments; Heat recovery; Heat and mass transfer problems; Environmental heat transfer; Experimental and measuring technologies; Thermal convert studies.

Download or read book Proceedings of the 4th International Seminar on Non Ideal Compressible Fluid Dynamics for Propulsion and Power written by Martin White and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-01 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book collects the main contributions from the 4th edition of the NICFD conference, organized by the Special Interest Group on Non-Ideal Compressible Fluid Dynamics (SIG- 49). It provides some of the latest research findings in the field of NICFD, relevant to a number of engineering applications related to the conversion of renewable and waste energy sources, like, e.g., organic Rankine cycles, super-critical CO2 cycle power plants, combustors operating with supercritical fluids, and heat pumps. The book reports on research encompassing theoretical, computational, and experimental aspects of the gas-dynamics of non-ideal reactive and non-reactive flows and their impact for the design of internal-flow components (turbomachinery, heat exchangers, combustors). All chapters address challenges related to characterizing the behaviour of non-ideal fluids, where state-of-the-art models are used to predict the thermo-physical properties of both pure and multi-phase fluids.
