Download or read book An Assessment of Missouri Elementary and Secondary Teachers Perceptions of Environmental Issues written by Jamal Moh'd Al-Rusheidat and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Purpose. The main purpose of this study was to assess the perceptions of elementary and secondary school teachers toward environmental issues in the state of Missouri. Procedures. A Conservation, Environmental, and Curriculum Issues Survey was developed and mailed to a stratified random sample of Missouri teachers. Three dependent variables were specified from average scores on eight questions that respondents expressed their opinions regarding soil and water conservation issues. Theses questions reflected profit motives, soil conservation and productivity, and penalties to environmental clean-up. Likert Scale techniques were used to measure respondents attitudes on these questions. Six independent variables (gender, current residence, residence while attending high school, whether or not teachers had relatives lived on farms, geographical location of schools, and participation in environmental education workshops) were selected for the study. All null hypotheses were tested at.05 level of significance. A common factor analysis with varimax rotation, and analysis of variance techniques were used to test the hypotheses. Findings and conclusions. The null hypotheses were not rejected indicating that none of the independent variables had any effect on the perceptions of teachers. Perceptions of elementary and secondary school teachers of environmental issues were very similar. Attitudes of teachers were not influenced by the hypothesized explanatory variables.

This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Environmental education (EE) and outdoor instruction are essential to understanding and addressing different environmental issues in school communities. This study investigated Mississippi teachers' perceptions on environmental education and outdoor instruction during 2020-2021. A state-wide survey and follow-up interview were conducted to examine their thoughts about environmental education and outdoor instruction and COVID-19 limitations in their classrooms and how that may affect their perceptions. Analysis was conducted using SPSS contingency and frequency tables, Chi-square Test of Independence, and content analysis of qualitative data. The results showed that Mississippi teacher participants believe that environmental education in Mississippi K-12 schools is very important and that outdoor instruction is a good way to learn environmental education. Many participants are interested in teaching classes outdoors but stated that they do not take their classes outside often. Results also documented that participants are concerned about the different limitations they face when teaching classes outdoors.

Book excerpt: Originally published in 1984, the field of research on teaching had expanded dramatically in the 15 years covered by this bibliography, 1965 to 1980. The expansion had included studies conducted for many purposes. This bibliography contains relevant citations to the research which has been conducted for the purposes of increasing our understanding of the science, art and craft of teaching. The existence of research publications has been documented with relevant reference information and brief annotations; there has been no attempt to evaluate the quality of the studies. A brief perusal of the bibliography provides an indication of the range of topics addressed by these studies and also of the variety of studies within a single topic.
