Book CMOS Continuous Time Adaptive Equalizers for High Speed Serial Links

Download or read book CMOS Continuous Time Adaptive Equalizers for High Speed Serial Links written by Cecilia Gimeno Gasca and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-09-22 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces readers to the design of adaptive equalization solutions integrated in standard CMOS technology for high-speed serial links. Since continuous-time equalizers offer various advantages as an alternative to discrete-time equalizers at multi-gigabit rates, this book provides a detailed description of continuous-time adaptive equalizers design - both at transistor and system levels-, their main characteristics and performances. The authors begin with a complete review and analysis of the state of the art of equalizers for wireline applications, describing why they are necessary, their types, and their main applications. Next, theoretical fundamentals of continuous-time adaptive equalizers are explored. Then, new structures are proposed to implement the different building blocks of the adaptive equalizer: line equalizer, loop-filters, power comparator, etc. The authors demonstrate the design of a complete low-power, low-voltage, high-speed, continuous-time adaptive equalizer. Finally, a cost-effective CMOS receiver which includes the proposed continuous-time adaptive equalizer is designed for 1.25 Gb/s optical communications through 50-m length, 1-mm diameter plastic optical fiber (POF).

Book A Textbook of Digital Signal Processing

Download or read book A Textbook of Digital Signal Processing written by R.S. Kaler and published by I K International Pvt Ltd. This book was released on 2009-07-11 with total page 738 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents theoretical and application topics in digital signal processing (DSP). The topics here comprise clever DSP "tricks of the trade" not covered in traditional DSP textbooks. Here we go beyond the standard DSP fundamentals textbook and present new, but tried-n-true, clever implementations of digital filter design, spectrum analysis, signal generation, high-speed function approximation and various other DSP functions. With this book we wished to create a resource that is relevant to the needs of the working DSP engineer by helping bridge the theory-to-practice gap between introductory DSP textbooks and the esoteric, difficult to understand, academic journals. This book will be useful to experienced DSP engineers, due to its gentle tutorial style it will also be of considerable value to the DSP beginner. The mathematics used herein is simple algebra and the arithmetic of complex numbers, making this material accessible to a wide engineering and scientific audience. Fortunately, the chapter topics in this book are written in a standalone manner, so the subject matter can be read in any desired order.

"Advanced Wireless Communications" continues to provide acomparative study of enabling technologies for 4G. This secondedition has been revised and updated and now includes additionalinformation on the components of common air interface, includingthe area of space time coding , multicarrier modulation especiallyOFDM, MIMO, cognitive radio and cooperative transmission. Ideal for students and engineers in research and development inthe field of wireless communications, the second edition ofAdvanced Wireless Communications also gives an understanding tocurrent approaches for engineers in telecomm operators, governmentand regulatory institutions. New features include: Brand new chapter covering linear precoding in MIMO channelsbased on convex optimization theory. Material based on game theory modelling encompassing problemsof adjacent cell interference, flexible spectra sharing andcooperation between the nodes in ad hoc networks. Presents and discusses the latest schemes for interferencesuppression in ultra wide band (UWB) cognitive systems. Discusses the cooperative transmission and more details onpositioning.

Book Digital Communications with Emphasis on Data Modems

Download or read book Digital Communications with Emphasis on Data Modems written by Richard W. Middlestead and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-03-07 with total page 828 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book uses a practical approach in the application of theoretical concepts to digital communications in the design of software defined radio modems. This book discusses the design, implementation and performance verification of waveforms and algorithms appropriate for digital data modulation and demodulation in modern communication systems. Using a building-block approach, the author provides an introductory to the advanced understanding of acquisition and data detection using source and executable simulation code to validate the communication system performance with respect to theory and design specifications. The author focuses on theoretical analysis, algorithm design, firmware and software designs and subsystem and system testing. This book treats system designs with a variety of channel characteristics from very low to optical frequencies. This book offers system analysis and subsystem implementation options for acquisition and data detection appropriate to the channel conditions and system specifications, and provides test methods for demonstrating system performance. This book also: Outlines fundamental system requirements and related analysis that must be established prior to a detailed subsystem design Includes many examples that highlight various analytical solutions and case studies that characterize various system performance measures Discusses various aspects of atmospheric propagation using the spherical 4/3 effective earth radius model Examines Ionospheric propagation and uses the Rayleigh fading channel to evaluate link performance using several robust waveform modulations Contains end-of-chapter problems, allowing the reader to further engage with the text Digital Communications with Emphasis on Data Modems is a great resource for communication-system and digital signal processing engineers and students looking for in-depth theory as well as practical implementations.
