This book was released on 1965 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geographic and frequency dependent distributions of atmospheric noise *power enumerated in CCIR Report 322 (1964) are approximated by series expansions for use in electronic computers.Coefficients of Fourier series representation of worldwide geographic dependence and power series representation of both mean and decile variability of the frequency dependence are tabulated.Representative contour charts of all distributions are shown along with sample longitudinal and latitudinal variations. Book A Method for Estimating Atmospheric Noise Amplitudes and Phase Errors in Quenched High Q Receiving Circuits

Download or read book A Method for Estimating Atmospheric Noise Amplitudes and Phase Errors in Quenched High Q Receiving Circuits written by E. A. Lewis and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Very narrow-band quenched filters used for studying VLF radio signals differ from conventional narrow-band circuits in that both signal and atmospheric noise impulses cause only brief quasi-sinusoidal outputs instead of a prolonged ringing. The random overlapping of these short noise and signal bursts can cause errors in phase measurements. It is shown that the distribution of phase errors can be calculated from the amplitude distribution of the output noise envelope. The properties of the phase distribution are discussed in detail, the computation required in the general case is illustrated by means of a numerical example. A simple 'time-sequential' method for experimentally obtaining typical amplitude distributions is suggested. (Author).

Book Analysis of the Crichlow Graphical Model of Atmospheric Radio Noise at Very Low Frequencies

Download or read book Analysis of the Crichlow Graphical Model of Atmospheric Radio Noise at Very Low Frequencies written by Kenneth E. Wilson and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Crichlow graphical model for the amplitude probability distribution (APD) of atmospheric radio noise (ARN) is analyzed. The model consists of two straight lines and a circular arc on Rayleigh paper. Formulas are obtained for the probability density function of the noise envelope in terms of the geometric descriptors of the APD. The Newton-Raphson method is applied to the density to solve for the geometric descriptors in terms of the statistical moments represented by the V sub d and L sub d ratios. The performance of the binary and M-ary coherent phase shift keyed communication system is predicted based upon the density of the graphical model and the less precise lognormal model.
