This book was released on 1967 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The COMPUTERIZED MANPOWER SYSTEMS Task seeks to integrate the growing body of psychological, mathematical, and computer technology in the solution of problems in military manpower. One of its objectives has been to develop computer-aided research approaches and simulation tools useful in (1) defining general principles of manpower systems and (2) formulation and evaluation of manpower policies and procedures. Technical Research Report 1152 summarizes the research methodology developed or adapted by the U.S. Army Personnel Research Office to deal with manpower information problems. Particular concern is with relationships between the amount and type of information on which assignment decisions are made and the performance of the Army's enlisted personnel. Typical findings are: Total performance of Army enlisted personnel could be enhanced by using as performance estimates in optimal assignment procedures the full 2- or 3-digit scores on qualification measures. The effect of the one-digit score is more serious when the range of ability in the allocation group is narrow and when the general level of ability is lowered. More precise prediction of job performance could be attained by introducing performance estimates more closely resembling least squares regression estimates based on the full Army Classification Battery. Total performance could be increased by refinement of the Army Personnel System to afford additional job categories. Optimization techniques may be beneficially applied in the manpower system even though estimates of performance are ordinal (including various ways of ranking) and the assumption of an interval scale is not strictly met.

Download or read book Military Personnel Measurement written by Martin F. Wiskoff and published by Praeger. This book was released on 1989-08-07 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume documents military advances in personnel measurement technology and practices. The military is the unquestionable forerunner of this technology. Until now some of this knowledge has not been easily accessible to the scientific community at large. This book highlights advances in enlisted personnel screening and selection from World War I to the present. It foresees the future era of testing, through the use of Item Response Theory, computerized adaptive testing, and the development of new computerized tests. The contributors study the use of computer systems to address person-job match and vocational guidance. They also describe selection to various officer candidate programs and examine the criteria of enlisted performance during peacetime. Military Personnel Measurement covers the full scope of military personnel technology and includes discussions of current topics including: computerized vocational guidance systems; advances in vocational testing; personnel classification; evaluations of enlisted performance. Students and professionals in the areas of personnel management, business administration, military studies, or anyone interested in the use of new technology in the testing and evaluation of personnel, will find Military Personnel Measurement a valuable resource.

Download or read book Abstracts of BESRL Research Publications written by Emma E. Brown and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: BESRL Technical Research Reports are publications describing completed research studies or programs which contribute directly to the solution of Army human factors problems. The Report is generally divided into two parts--a brief general report to management and a technical supplement. BESRL Technical Research Notes are of interest primarily to technically trained research workers in the Department of Defense and in other government research agencies. Notes present technical information concerning research methodology or basic psychological knowledge growing out of the work program. BESRL Research Studies are special reports to military management, generally prepared in response to questions raised by operating agencies when early answers are needed. Research Studies may include presentations to military management, interim bases for changes in personnel operations, and bases for research decisions. Distribution is usually limited to operating agencies with a direct interest in the content. BESRL Research Memorandums are informal reports on technical research problems. Research Memorandums include the following types of content: details concerning construction of experimental instruments, fragmentary or incidental data, and methodological developments relating primarily to in-house technical operations. Limited distribution is made, primarily to personnel engaged in research for the U.S. Army Behavioral Science Research Laboratory.
