Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: EVERY BODY HAS A STORY - AND YOUR BODY'S STORY IS MY LIFE'S WORK It's dangerous out there. I've measured life not in years, months, or even days...but a matter of hours, if I'm lucky, and sometimes only seconds zipped past me. The pressure. The stress. The gravity of near-impossible emergency situations pushing down on my shoulders...and I live for it! I take everyday people from the 11th hour between life and death, to thriving in a world they never knew possible. I develop personalized programs that work at the cellular level. Getting your cells working together, instead of being at war. And I'm with you every step of the way! American Biohacker is a no-holds-barred, no-punches-pulled look into our broken medical system and how most Americans are following the wrong advice. I've seen too many people choke on hope endlessly, and I won't leave you there. My experience working with athletes, war vets, and high-profile celebrities gave me the ability to recognize patterns hidden in chaos. Connecting the dots where others couldn't even begin to see any parallels became an intense rush, a challenge I sought out repeatedly. One variable can change your life, and most aren't willing to explore that. I do. When you pick up a copy of American Biohacker, you'll learn: Why some tests can be misleading - and how to take control of your results (hint: is your doctor really looking at the full picture? Find out!) The connection between insulin, mitochondria, and weight loss (no, you're not imagining things: there is a real connection and the weight loss industry hopes you'll never figure it out) How to stop muscle loss in its tracks - backed up by studying some of the top endurance athletes in the world The real cause of heart disease, and how to turn things around (is it any surprise that we've been lied to, given how profitable it is for "them" to do so?) How to help your current doctor work more effectively with your goals (at the end of the day, doctors are devoted to helping people; we just need to change a few things) The way hormones interact in your body, and how everyday people can use hormonal levels to best advantage This is not a book for the elite 1% already in peak shape. On the other hand, this isn't just for people needing a "Hail Mary" in the 11th hour before everything spirals out of control or good. Here's the bottom line: If you have a pulse, and want to keep feeling it, this book is for you. If you you're not ready to be six feet under just yet, this book is for you. If you're fed up with conflicting, clashing, and downright confusing answers, this book is for you. In American Biohacker, I share my story with you and bring you along for the ride of your life. If you dare to risk having your beliefs about conventional medicine turned upside down, shattered and ripped to shreds, this could be ground zero for you to take back control over your health. So, what are you waiting for? Get your copy now and let's do this.

Book Biohacker s Magazine

Download or read book Biohacker s Magazine written by Biohacker's Magazine and published by Biohackers Magazine . This book was released on with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a world with so much information that is continually thrown at us, sometimes it’s tough to know what to accept as Truth and what to reject as false. So many things call for our attention that we can become mentally strained and exhausted by the end of the day. Because of this, we are susceptible to the coaxing idea of giving up our thinking, especially our critical thinking. We know we can’t think about every little thing and decision that crosses our mind throughout the day, so we have many of our thoughts on auto-pilot – which is fine, as this helps us from becoming absolutely drained by the end of our day. The problem arises when we let this auto-thinking expand beyond the everyday task level of thinking and decision-making. Out of comfort, we can allow ideas and words that flash before us throughout our daily lives, to merge into our inner brain’s reservoir without first weighing the information against our experiences and own inner knowledge of our understanding of the Truth. This is essential when we let others that generate ideas, thoughts, agendas, etc. think for ourselves because we simply feel too overloaded with the amount of information, we have to continually process that we give up our own free right to ponder something. It's quite scary when we think about the ramifications that can come of this, especially when the world today shows us that those that don’t think for themselves, are perfect subjects to a form of modern-day slavery to whatever ideas and reality the powers want to build up. This is why it's so important to take the time to invest in ourselves from the beginning and make learning, reading, and curiosity a habit. It takes time but the earlier we begin, the more time we save in the long run from having to put great time and attention into each thought that enters our mind and decide whether it fits with our values or not. We must be like children, constantly questioning the world and using our forged experiences to add to our answers and depth of self-knowledge. In the same manner, we must respectfully study and learn from all those who have gone before us and be open to learning about their ways and perspectives. Remember that knowledge is not solely subjective; it is also objective and is the understanding of a real, concrete thing under the aspect of a grasped meaning. We use our intellect to study and think rationally about things, which adds to our understanding of the truth about ourselves, our community, and our world. The choices that we make are dependent upon our will (whether good or bad), which is in turn dependent upon our understanding of the truth. Man is the only animal that can say “I eat, and I know that I eat. I am, and I know that I am. I think, and I know that I think.” To know, we must think critically about subjects that truly hold value. We must make the most of our intellect and discover new data from our experiments from biohacking to add to our knowledge in the search for the truth that propels all of us, humans, forward to the beat of Life’s constant drum. “If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth, only soft soap, and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair.” - C.S. Lewis

Book Biohackers Magazine Issue 17

Download or read book Biohackers Magazine Issue 17 written by and published by Biohackers Magazine . This book was released on with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When one experiences a new product, a new treatment, or a new idea, there’s little that compares to the feelings of excitement and hope that rush in, fueling one’s faith in the upright direction of humanity. I just recently attended the 8th Annual Biohacking Conference hosted by Dave Asprey in LA and like each biohacking event, I left feeling inspired to say the least. Everything I saw, every person I met, and every biohack I experienced, further fed my appetite to share these great ideas and practices with the world, a world hungering for the opposite approach of industrialized medicine. Now, of course, not every biohack is exactly 100% proven. Suffice it to say, there are many that are still in the process of collecting data from studies and clinical trials. However, those that have stood up to the modern pill-popping regimes and have adamantly supported their ideas on the foundations of strong scientific data, are truly examples to be held in high regard. I was impressed with the many products and companies at the conference that held a mission of dedicated service to fellow mankind. Yes, like in any startup industry, or even industry for that matter, there are those who are looking to push some falsehood to scheme people into buying their product or services. But as we know, the companies that rise to the top are those that stick to the cardinal virtues that make up all of us, Prudence, Justice, Fortitude, and Temperance. The Biohacking Industry is outgrowing its mold and soon a new layer of enthusiasts will be added. This is something that should enthrall us, but it shouldn't permit us to lose sight of the foundational attributes that make and will continue to make us biohackers for the rest of our lives. Essentially, we are all after freedom - freedom from disease, freedom from injury, freedom from hysteria, and freedom from aging. Responsible Biohacking is perhaps the best way towards that freedom, and we must continually adjust our sails to catch the winds that stem from truth and service. That is what we at Biohackers Magazine strive towards - serving the community through the provision of information carefully discerned and attuned to the values of sincerity and science.

Book Radicals Chasing Utopia

Download or read book Radicals Chasing Utopia written by Jamie Bartlett and published by Bold Type Books. This book was released on 2017-06-13 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "It's the hubris of every generation to think that they have arrived at the best way of living. But all the things we now take for granted, all the modern wisdoms we hold to be self-evident, were once derided as dangerous or foolish radical thinking." -- From the Prologue In Radicals Chasing Utopia, Jamie Bartlett, one of the world's leading thinkers on radical politics and technology, takes readers inside the strange and exciting worlds of the innovators, disrupters, idealists, and extremists who think we can do better-and believe they know how. Bartlett introduces us to some of the most influential movements today: techno-futurists questing for immortality, far-right groups seeking to close borders, militant environmentalists striving to save the planet by any means necessary, and psychedelic pioneers attempting to heal society with the help of powerful hallucinogens. The success of democratic societies hinges on our ability to listen to-and in some cases learn from-the radical movements in our midst. Their methods may be extreme, but in chasing utopia, these groups are challenging what is possible and previewing the world to come.

Book How to Be Cross Eyed

Download or read book How to Be Cross Eyed written by Jonathan Roseland and published by Jonathan Roseland. This book was released on 2019-01-01 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There's that moment when you meet a new person and you can tell that they are just a bit disoriented by your weirdness. You feel that familiar little pang of embarrassment and shame because you know how weird you must look to them. You're physically imperfect. So am I. I know that moment as well as you do… But you don't have to be cross eyed (or have a conspicuous physical imperfection) to enjoy this book. Really thriving requires an uncommon set of barely legal biohacking tools, social dynamics strategies from the fringes of polite society and rapid mindset transformation technologies which this lifehacking manifesto delves deeply into. This book is especially for that one or two percent of the population that have a glaring physical defect. Which I fall into. I'm cross-eyed with Strabismus, if you're reading this, perhaps you are too. There's certainly people out there with more conspicuous physical imperfections, who have it worse than I do. However, the eyes are the window to the soul, they really are a part of nearly every important human interaction. Not having normal eyes has been a disadvantage that I've needed to develop a specific set of skills and life strategies to overcome. I was talking to my lovely fiancée about this book and she asked me if the purpose of the book was to help the self esteem of people with physical imperfections. Not really. This book is more about the lifehacks that I've employed over the past 10 years; strategies, methods and tools that really work to help you overcome the challenge of a physical imperfection and thrive. These things will likely improve your self esteem, but they will also work if you have low self esteem, or no self esteem (or too much self esteem - as I'm sometimes accused of having!) Self esteem is not my focus. My focus is on things that work. This is not your typical self help book… I've had a pretty interesting life; I've seduced a politician's daughter in Medellin, Colombia, I hung out with spies in Kiev, Ukraine. I've almost died underwater twice, I participated in a bank robbery and I lost my virginity to a spy (yes, really!) From having sex in a brand new Maserati and getting in high speed car chases to being deported from South American countries and representing the US Presidential candidate Donald J. Trump I've found the happiness that I didn't give a damn about and realized my dream of becoming an adventuring philosopher. I'm not a theorist in the business of making generalizations. The tactics and tools presented here are for rigorous practitioners, ethical hedonists and open minded self experimenters. I may sound like quite the pompous pontificator but I'll offer no apologies because story telling is the best way to impart the unconventional mindset that saved me from mediocrity and the biohacks that enabled me to defy my selfish genes. If you're bored of the tired problem>generalization>platitude>strategy formula that most self help books follow you'll enjoy this memoir of adventures, failures and unexpected successes across three continents. I'll share with you some powerful tools for transformation - biohacking, smart drugs, flowstate, red pill mindset and tantric sex - with which I've managed to pack several lifetimes' worth of peak experiences into a single decade.

Book Contemporary American Fiction in the Embrace of the Digital Age

Download or read book Contemporary American Fiction in the Embrace of the Digital Age written by Beatrice Pire and published by Liverpool University Press. This book was released on 2021-12-31 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection aims to examine the relationship between American fiction and innovations that marked the first decades of the 21st century: the Internet, social media, smart objects and environments, artificial intelligence, nanotechnologies, genetic engineering and other biotechnologies, transhumanism. These technological innovations redefine the way we live in and imagine our world, interact with each other and understand the human being in his or her ever closer relationship to the machine a human being no longer, as in the past, cared for or repaired, but now enhanced or replaced. What about our artistic and cultural practices? Are these recent advances changing language and literature? How is fiction transformed by technological progress and what representations of progress can it oppose? Can fiction offer a critique of the new media and the upheavals they precipitate? How does the temporality of literature respond to a technical time subjected to the imperative of efficiency, where the present is a slave to the future? Do virtual worlds challenge the primacy of literary fiction as a privileged mode of escape from daily life? In a context where software can generate literary works, can the force of poetical advent still oppose algorithmic logics? What becomes of the body in a world in which its technical extensions increase the externalization of its cognitive functions in media artifacts and digital networks? In order to explore these questions, scholars here investigate the American fiction of Russell Banks, Don DeLillo, David Foster Wallace, Jonathan Lethem, Tao Lin, Richard Powers, Kenneth Goldsmith, Jennifer Egan or Jonathan Franzen as well as the Cyberpunk genre and the Neuronovel.

Book Imagining Personal Data

Download or read book Imagining Personal Data written by Vaike Fors and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-05-04 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital self-tracking devices and data have become normal elements of everyday life. Imagining Personal Data examines the implications of the rise of body monitoring and digital self-tracking for how we inhabit, experience and imagine our everyday worlds and futures. Through a focus on how it feels to live in environments where data is emergent, present and characterized by a sense of uncertainty, the authors argue for a new interdisciplinary approach to understanding the implications of self-tracking, which attends to its past, present and possible future. Building on social science approaches, the book accounts for the concerns of scholars working in design, philosophy and human-computer interaction. It problematizes the body and senses in relation to data and tracking devices, presents an accessible analytical account of the sensory and affective experiences of self-tracking, and questions the status of big data. In doing so it proposes an agenda for future research and design that puts people at its centre.

Farley has penned a novel that sheds an important light on real issues facing young people today.” —Angie Thomas, author of The Hate U Give In early March 2020 in New Rochelle, New York, teenager Geth Montego is fumbling with the present and uncertain about her future. She only has three friends: her best friend Tovah, who’s been acting weird ever since they started applying to college; Diego, who she wants to ask to prom; and the K-pop band BTS, because the group always seems to be there for her when she needs them (at least in her head). She could use some help now. Geth’s small city becomes one of the first COVID-19 containment zones in the US. As her community is upended by the virus and stirred up by the growing Black Lives Matter protests, Geth faces a choice and a question: Is she willing to risk everything to fight for her beliefs? And if so, what exactly does she believe in? C.J. Farley captures a moment in spring 2020 no teenager will ever forget. It sucks watching the world fall apart. But sometimes you have to start from zero.
