Download or read book Amazon written by Natalie Berg and published by Kogan Page Publishers. This book was released on 2019-01-03 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is the secret to Amazon's success? What does the ecommerce giant have in store for the future? Explore the disruptive new retail strategies of the world's most relentless retailer and gain valuable lessons that can be applied to any business in the ecommerce sector, with original insight from the company as it continues to revolutionize itself even further. The retail industry is facing unprecedented challenges. Across all sectors and markets, retailers are shifting their business models and customer engagement strategies to ensure they survive. The rise of online shopping, and its primary player, Amazon, is at the heart of these changes and opportunities. Amazon's relentless dissatisfaction with the status quo is what makes it such an extraordinary retailer. This book explores whether Amazon has what it takes to become a credible grocery retailer, and as it transitions to bricks and mortar retailing, investigates whether Amazon's stores can be as compelling as its online offering. Exploring the ecommerce giant's strategies, Amazon offers unique insight into how innovations such voice technology, checkout-free stores and its Prime ecosystem, will fundamentally change the way consumers shop. Written by industry leading retail analysts who have spent decades providing research-based analysis and opinion on retail strategy and enterprise technology use in retail, Amazon analyzes the impact these initiatives will have on the wider retail sector and the lessons that can be learned from its unprecedented rise to dominance - as stores of the future become less about transactions and more about experiences.
Download or read book Mobile Tech Report 2015 written by John R. Roberts and published by Mindwarm Incorporated. This book was released on 2015-02-23 with total page 1039 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you read technology news, you’ll notice it’s not just a story of amazing new product introductions, or even that plus copycat product introductions. All the usual aspects of business are there: fierce competition, new contenders, old survivors, great ideas but business failures, mediocre ideas that somehow seem to succeed and prosper. As a reporter, commentator and blogger on mobile technology, I’ve collected what happened in the industry in 2014 and make predictions on what will and won’t happen in 2015. You can read what did happen in the mobile technology in 2014. Often I deliver a comment with the news item and usually there is a link to the web page of the original announcement. This way you can dive into any detail level you desire, read my news feed for the overview or follow the related web link to the longer article. History is moving so fast now that it is all recorded electronically, but I’m surprised no one else has collected it and presented it for consideration. Here is 2013 from the mobile technology industry for your consideration along with my own observations and opinions about where things are headed. It’s often overlooked that the technology industry is an industry. By that I mean its main concerns are profit and growth. As consumers we love the new products and unique abilities we are gaining from technology, but it is a business akin to any other, trying to seduce us to pry money out of our wallets. So I cover the horse race aspect of the business, who’s up, who’s down. Is that changing? Is that likely to change? The longer implications of what the technology industry is doing are vast and social. We are moving to an always on, always connected society where we can communicate with someone instantly and find an answer to any question quickly. The entire database of human knowledge is now available in the palm of your hand whenever you desire it. Everything is there, the good, the bad, right and wrong, hate and love, music and noise. We are obsessed with technology, not in and of itself, but as a means to an end. Technology is the means to satisfy our curiosity or even our desire for self-expression. We are taking photos machine gun-style with our smartphones and choose the few to share. As humans we are gathering ever more data about ourselves and sharing more about ourselves than we probably thought possible. Bill Gates was once asked why the computer industry had generated so much improvement in its products over a relatively few years. He gave some boring answer about Moore’s Law, but the real answer is that computers are in their teenage years. They are growing and growing. They will not always do so. So too the technology industry is in a state of rapid change. I see the shift to smaller devices as a new paradigm, smashing some businesses and growing others into giants. Their stories are here in the news. In short here are predictions for what won’t and will happen in 2015 for the mobile technology industry, breakdowns of marketshare figures on the horse race aspect of the business, chapters on Apple, Samsung, Google, Microsoft, Nokia, Blackberry, Amazon, Yahoo, news about social media giants Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Foursquare, SnapChat and the carriers themselves Verizon, AT&T, Sprint andT-Mobile. You can also review my 2014 mobile predictions and see my track record on predictions. Finally there are some essays on how all this mobile tech is figuring into our lives. I’ve divided the news into the subjects it covers, but also put in the appendix all the news as it came out in chronological ordering. You can read the firehose of events in the appendix, or just read about one topic at a time in the earlier chapters.

Download or read book Rational Leadership written by Paul Brooker and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2023-11-24 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rational leadership inspires confidence by capably using appropriate rational means, as described in the first edition of Rational Leadership. Now a second, updated edition has added eight new chapters and has looked at redevelopment as well as development. The book highlights these two important versions of rational leadership, where a rational leader is either developing or redeveloping a business corporation. Part One presents eight cases of rational leaders who have developed iconic corporations. These best-practice leaders include Sam Walton of Walmart, Meg Whitman of eBay, and Jeff Bezos of Amazon. In all eight cases, the leaders used appropriate adaptive, calculative, and deliberative methods to develop their corporations. In Part Two the authors shift the focus from development to redevelopment. Part Two presents five classic cases of rational leaders redeveloping - remedially renewing - problematic corporations. The leaders include Lou Gerstner of IBM and Steve Jobs of Apple. In all five cases the leaders used appropriate organizational tools, which transformed, reoriented, or hybridized the corporation. Both Part Two and Part One also present supplementary cases of other rational leaders developing or redeveloping a corporation. These leaders include Sheryl Sandberg, Marcel Dassault, Giorgio Armani, Anita Roddick, Satya Nadella, Carly Fiorina, Marissa Mayer, and Jack Welch. In total the authors present more than twenty supplementary or main cases of rational leadership. Most of these case studies are based on a leader's memoir and leader's-eye view, validated by additional biographical and historical sources.

Download or read book Performance of Amazon during the Corona Crisis and Dot com Bubble Corporate Strategy Liquidity Revenue and Profit written by Jagnoor Bhalla and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2021-04-20 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2020 in the subject Business economics - Investment and Finance, grade: 1,3, University of Applied Sciences Augsburg, language: English, abstract: This paper will examine the corporate success of Amazon.com, Inc. in times of the dot-com bubble compared to its performance in times of the corona-crisis. The comparison of the company during these financial crises will include corporate strategy, the company’s liquidity, revenue and profit. It will also analyse stock prices and the performance on the stock market, as well as the number of employees and their compensation as indicators for its financial situation and the company’s success. Looking at the global economy, it is clear to see that financial crises are occurring from time to time, challenging companies in many ways to innovate and find solutions and get through financially instable times with minimal losses. There are also different types of crises which are weakening especially certain economic sectors. The internet-crisis and the corona-crisis both had an immense impact on the financial market and the business world. Considering these two crises which are very different, or almost contradictory to each other, it seems to be interesting to compare the performance of an internet company, which began as one of these dot-com startups during the internet crisis, but is still innovative and successful to this day, even during the corona crisis.
