Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Inclusive Education written by Silvia Zanazzi and published by Edizioni Nuova Cultura. This book was released on 2018-03-30 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Starting in the 1970s, the Italian government has passed a set of legislative provisions known as integrazione scolastica. Separate special education classes were abolished and all students were admitted into mainstream schools, regardless of any disability, impairment, or any other personal characteristic or social circumstance. The Italian model seems to be an ideal context for the development of inclusive education when compared to other realities in Europe and in the world, where, in some cases, special schools and/or classes are still the only available options for students with disabilities or impairments. Does such perception correspond to reality? This book aims to critically analyse and discuss the Italian model of inclusive education from international and intercultural perspectives, as a way to address a crucial theme for educators, school administrators, policymakers, citizens and parents.
Download or read book The Right to Inclusive Education in International Human Rights Law written by Gauthier de Beco and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2019-05-02 with total page 733 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Education is a fundamental human right that is recognised as essential for the attainment of all civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. It was not until 2006, on the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), that the right to inclusive education was codified. This volume fills a major gap in the literature on the right of disabled people to education. It examines the theoretical foundations and core content of the right to inclusive education in international human rights law, and explores the various ways of implementing this right through an exploration of legal strategies and mechanisms. With contributions by leaders in the field, this volume advances scholarship on the core content of the right to inclusive education by examining the content and practice of the right at the national, regional and international levels.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The grounding assumption that undergirds Disability Critical Race Theory (DisCrit) is that racism and ableism are mutually constitutive and collusive-always circulating across time and context in interconnected ways. Through we originally wrote DisCrit in 2013 and have written a number of projects with it as the foundation, DisCrit rapidly expanded far beyond our own work. In tracing this reverberation, we are struck by the ways DisCrit has been taken up, expanded upon, and used as a jumping off point for further creative articulations. The dynamic landscape of scholarship taking up DisCrit reflects its role in fostering a transgressive space that has generated critical questions looking outward, inward, and across differences and divides. Following an introduction by a, intellectual forerunner to DisCrit, Alfredo Artiles, is a three-part edited book organized around central inquiries that are directed outward, inward, as well as across or margin-to-margin. Through each section, authors answer these central inquiries by applying DisCrit across theoretical, methodological, and analytical spaces to shift praxis, exploring who we are answerable to axiologically, and expanding beyond missing pieces or silences associated with DisCrit. The closing chapter synthesizes ruptures, including issues raised and explored in the present text, and look toward the future of how DisCrit can be useful in developing more complex understandings of inequalities with view to working toward countering them in different, yet interconnected, levels including: the personal, the professional, and the structural"--
Download or read book Global Perspectives on Inclusive Teacher Education written by Rice, Bethany M. and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2019-03-01 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inclusive teacher preparation varies greatly in format and practice, yet programs grapple with the same underlying challenges: which practices work and where do they work. As children with disabilities are increasingly being included in schools, it is essential that guidance is put into place on how best to adapt inclusive practices into the classroom and create new practices based on the cultural context. Global Perspectives on Inclusive Teacher Education summarizes existing research on inclusive practices globally while presenting emerging research and opportunities for cementing change in inclusive teacher education locally, including examples of how inclusive practices are integrated in and adapted to diverse cultural contexts. Covering topics that include critical pedagogy, religious schooling, and teacher education, this publication is designed for curriculum developers, instructional designers, administrators, higher education faculty, educators, policymakers, and students.
Download or read book Reproducing Inequalities in Teaching written by Stefania Pigliapoco and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-12-30 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book analyses how lines of (non)belonging are traced and how notions of (non)belonging circulate around and are attached to students from immigrant backgrounds. Such circulations coalesce around values and practices linked to gendered, ethnic majority middle-class norms, through which difference is positioned and opposed in hierarchical terms. This project analyses the relationship between teachers’ identities and their attitudes and pedagogic dispositions towards students from immigrant backgrounds, showing how these affect each other, contributing to their state of (non)belonging in the educational setting and in the wider society. Attention is brought to the pervasive and normalised background of neoliberal ideology, permeating the educational environment. In examining the (problematic) relationship between the previous elements, the book uncovers the intersectional reproduction of lines of belonging - and not belonging. While the analysis is centred on a study in Italy, it is situated within and provides links to international connections, facilitating a wider and global understanding of issues related to social justice. The book will be of interest to undergraduate and postgraduate students and researchers across sociology, education, gender, and cultural studies. Due to the intersectional approach and the width of the issues explored, it will be of use to policymakers and practitioners.

Download or read book Handbook of Research on Healthcare Standards Policies and Reform written by Comite, Ubaldo and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2022-04-08 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The healthcare industry has been the center of attention recently as it continues to have a major impact on private and public organizations, government institutions, and consumers. An increasing number of requests for healthcare has led to the implementation of new policies and reform proposals that are challenging as they can have a simultaneous impact on different categories of users. As many health, individual, and organizational activities continue to grow and are conducted in the general environment, new vulnerabilities have emerged that have led to the need to study the system from a different angle. The nature, source, and complexity of healthcare is not always clear, and many times health issues are underestimated. The Handbook of Research on Healthcare Standards, Policies, and Reform examines the complex issues, various problems, and innovative solutions that are linked to healthcare standards, policies, and reform. This comprehensive reference work provides important knowledge that impacts healthcare improvement from the perspective of multiple disciplines, adding innovation value to solving health issues. Covering topics such as health protection, psychological health, and healthcare technology, it is an essential resource for academicians, healthcare practitioners, researchers, healthcare scientists, professional bodies, professors and students of higher education, and policymakers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Download or read book Il concetto di Bisogni Educativi Speciali BES e caratterizzazione dei disturbi specifici dell apprendimento DSA written by Serena Caracausi and published by Youcanprint. This book was released on 2018-03-22 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Inclusive Education in Italy written by Simona D’Alessio and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-01 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an innovative and thought-provoking analysis of the policy of integrazione scolastica from an inclusive perspective. Drawing on historical and empirical research methods the book arises out of an ethnographic study, which investigates the extent to which the policy of integrazione scolastica can be considered an inclusive policy. The author poses two fundamental questions: why are there episodes of micro-exclusion and discrimination against disabled pupils still taking place in regular schools after more than 30 years have passed since the enactment of such a progressive policy? Can the policy of integration lead to the development of inclusion in Italy? The research findings presented in the book indicate that exclusion and discrimination towards disabled pupils in education do not result from a lack of implementation of the policy at a school level, rather from the perpetuation of dominant discourses, which construct disability as an individual deficit. The book does not deny the progress made in the country following the application of this anti-discriminatory policy; rather it challenges the hegemonic abilist culture and the traditional perspectives of disability and schooling that undermine the development of inclusive education. After having investigated the theoretical premises of the policy of integration, the author argues that this progressive policy is still rooted in a special needs education paradigm and that what was once a liberating policy has been transformed into a hegemonic tool which still manages, controls and normalizes disability leaving school settings and teaching and learning routines unchanged. She finally argues for a human rights approach for the development of an inclusive school for the 21st century. The book is an essential reading for academics, policy makers, researchers and students involved in education as it links ideological pressures to practical analyses.
