Book Alternative Retail Beef Handling Systems Classic Reprint

Download or read book Alternative Retail Beef Handling Systems Classic Reprint written by Lawrence a. Duewer and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-08 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Alternative Retail Beef-Handling Systems Though fresh cuts were found the least expensive method of centralized cutting, freezing this meat at the warehouse offers other advantages to consumers and retailers. Central cutting to frozen cuts has only slightly higher costs (about 2 cents per retail pound) than fresh cuts, and the products have a much longer shelf life. Both fresh and frozen centralized cutting provides increased total carcass use; better use of fat and bone trim; greater product uniformity; improved sanitation; and reduced handling, packaging, and transportation costs. Also, frozen beef maintains its product freshness and the amount of shrinkage is reduced. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: This new edition of Trade in Goods is an authoritative work on international trade by one of the most influential scholars in the field. It provides a comprehensive and detailed analysis of every WTO agreement dealing with trade in goods. The focus of the book is on the reasoning behind the various WTO agreements and their provisions, and the manner in which they have been understood in practice. It introduces both the historic as well as the economic rationale for the emergence of the multilateral trading system, before dealing with WTO practice in all areas involving trade in goods. It contests the claim that the international trade agreements themselves represent 'incomplete contracts', realized through interpretation by the WTO and other judicial bodies. The book comprehensively analyses the WTO's case law, and it argues that a more rigorous theoretical approach is needed to ensure a greater coherence in the interpretation of the core provisions regulating trade in goods. This second edition readdresses and moves beyond the discussion of the GATT presented in the first edition to assess in significant detail every trade in goods agreement at the WTO, both multilateral as well as plurilateral. The book is written to be accessible to those new to the field, with an authoritative level of detail and analysis that makes it essential reading for lawyers and economists alike.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International trade rules have significant impacts on environmental law and policy, at the domestic, regional and global levels. At the World Trade Organization (WTO), dispute settlement tribunals are increasingly called to decide on environment- and health-related questions. Can governments treat products differently based on environmental considerations? Can they block the import of highly carcinogenic asbestos-containing products or genetically modified crops? Does the WTO allow governments to protect dolphins or endangered sea turtles through the use of import restrictions on certain products? How can civil society participate in WTO dispute settlement? This Guide, authored by five world leaders on international environmental and trade law at the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL), is an accessible, comprehensive, one-of-a-kind compendium of environment and trade jurisprudence under the WTO. Providing an overview for both experts and non-experts of the major themes relevant to environment and trade, it also analyses how WTO tribunals have approached these themes in concrete disputes and provides selected excerpts of the most significant cases.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Food safety is a major problem around the world, both with regard to human suffering and with respect to economic costs. Scientific advances have increased our knowledge surrounding the nutritional characteristics of foods and their effects on health. This means that a large proportion of consumers are much more conscious with respect to what they eat and their demands for quality food. Food quality is a complex term that includes, in addition to safety, other intrinsic characteristics, such as appearance, color, texture and flavor, and also extrinsic characteristics, such as perception or involvement.
