Download or read book Alphabetic Phonics Fast Start for Early Readers Level 1 written by Paul MacKie and published by . This book was released on 2019-04-15 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FAST START FOR EARLY READERS - LEVEL 1 Most preschoolers will start to look at books around 1 or 2 years of age, and learn to read around 2 to 5 years of age. Once a pre-school child has learned the 26-alphabet letter sounds, 60 phonogram blended consonant sounds and the Pre-primer Sight Words, it is time to introduce short sentence readers of two, three, four or more words.Short sentence readers for beginner readers should be black and white line drawings, so as not to distract the pre-school reader. The words are usually two three and four-letter words that where possible can be sounded out phonetically, with a CVC (Consonant - Vowel - Consonant) to make the word; sentences are usually a noun (name of something), a verb (an action), or a sight word.Where possible, this book presents the 26 phonetic letter sounds of the alphabet, and some of the pre-primer Sight Words to make short sentences.Pre-Primer Sight Words are words that are unable to be sounded out phonetically (their lowercase phonetic sound) and cannot be represented in picture form.Short sentence readers are best in a step by step progressive order: Two words which have two three or four letters that can be sounded out phonetically (their lowercase letter sound); no punctuation or capitals.Three words which have three or four letters that can be sounded out phonetically: no punctuation or capitals.Four or more words which have three, four or more letters that can be sounded out phonetically with punctuation, capitals and sight words.Introduction of pre and primer (up to 5 years) sight words that cannot be sounded out phonetically or be represented with a picture.Complete sentences with sight words, capitals and punctuation.FAST START FOR EARLY READERS - LEVEL 1, has large easy to read letters and matching pictures to help preschool children easily learn to read. The book also contains all 26 letter sounds of the alphabet and pre-primer words at the back of the book as a reference

Shifting the Balance 3-5 introduces six more shifts across individual chapters that: Zoom in on a common (but not-as helpful-as-we-had-hoped) practice to reconsider Untangle a number of "misunderstandings" that have likely contributed to the use of the common practice Propose a more science-aligned shift to the current practice Provide solid scientific research to support the revised practice Offer a collection of high-leverage, easy-to-implement instructional routines to support the shift to more brain-friendly instruction The authors offer a refreshing approach that is respectful, accessible, and practical - grounded in an earnest commitment to building a bridge between research and classroom practice.
