Book The Chemical Transformations of C1 Compounds

Download or read book The Chemical Transformations of C1 Compounds written by Xiao-Feng Wu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2022-01-14 with total page 1780 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chemical Transformations of C1 Compounds A comprehensive exploration of one-carbon molecule transformations The chemistry of one-carbon molecules has recently gained significant prominence as the world transitions away from a petroleum-based economy to a more sustainable one. In The Chemical Transformations of C1 Compounds, an accomplished team of chemists delivers an in-depth overview of recent developments in the field of single-carbon chemistry. The three-volume book covers all major C1 sources, including carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane, methanol, formic acid, formaldehyde, carbenes, C1 halides, and organometallics. The editors have included resources discussing the main reactions and transformations into feedstock chemicals of each of the major C1 compounds reviewed in dedicated chapters. Readers will discover cutting-edge material on organic transformations with MeNO2, DMF, DCM, methyl organometallic reagents, CCl4, CHCl3, and CHBr3, as well as recent achievements in cyanation reactions via cross-coupling. The book also offers: Thorough introductions to chemical transformations of CH4, methods of CH4 activation, chemical transformations of CH3OH and synthesis alkenes from CH3OH Comprehensive explorations of the carbonylation of MeOH, CH2O in organic synthesis, organic transformations of HCO2H, and hydrogen generation from HCO2H Practical discussions of the carbonylation of unsaturated bonds with heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts, as well as the carbonylation of C(sp2)-X bonds and C(sp3)-X bonds In-depth examinations of carbonylative C-H bond activation and radical carbonylation Perfect for organic and catalytic chemists, The Chemical Transformations of C1 Compounds is also an ideal resource for industrial chemists, chemical engineers, and practitioners at energy supply companies.

Book Tellurium in Organic Synthesis

Download or read book Tellurium in Organic Synthesis written by Nicola Petragnani and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2010-07-07 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The increasing number of publications that use tellurium clearly demonstrates the important role of tellurium compounds as unique and powerful tools in a broad range of organic chemical manipulations, often characterized by their selective behavior. Tellurium in Organic Synthesis provides an overview of the principal aspects of organic tellurium chemistry. Many chapters have been enriched and updated in this second edition. New chapters include overviews of toxicology and pharmacology and a review on the preparation and reactivity of several tellurium heterocycles. The first part of the book focuses on the preparation of selected inorganic tellurium compounds and on the main classes of organotellurium compounds. The second part, and main interest of the book, details the use of these inorganic and organic compounds as reagents to perform specific organic manipulations and synthesis. Reactions covered include reduction, formation and reaction of anionic species, deprotection, tellurium cyclizations, formation of alkenes, use of vinyllic tellurides, free radical chemistry, transmetallations, and removal of tellurium. Overview of inorganic and organic tellurium chemistry Synthetic applications of tellurium compounds All topics accompanied by detailed experimental procedures

Book Organic Reactions Volume 73

Download or read book Organic Reactions Volume 73 written by Dennis G. Hall and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-05-29 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Allylic boron compounds have gained a prominent position as a truly practical class of synthetic reagents in the past twenty-five years. Their main application as a method for the stereoselective synthesis of homoallylic alcohols by allyl-transfer to carbonyl compounds is essentially unmatched. In this process, a new carbon-carbon bond is formed, and up to two new stereogenic centers are created in a predictably controlled manner. Highly effective and general enantioselective variants are available, with countless applications in the total syntheses of polyacetate and polypropionate natural products. Furthermore, the residual allylic unit can be manipulated through a number of different transformations such as oxidative cleavage, olefin metathesis, hydrometalations, and many others. The discovery of Lewis and Brønsted acid catalyzed manifolds recently, has opened new doors for further development of this important reaction. This book provides an up-to-date, comprehensive survey of the literature of this rich chemistry as it pertains to organic synthesis. Consistent with the goal of Organic Reactions, the content and presentation emphasize the preparative aspects of the reactions, giving considerable attention to the scope and limitations of the individual transformations along with detailed experimental procedures. A tabular survey of all examples of carbonyl allylboration used in organic synthesis is presented in nine tables organized by type of allylic boron reagent with listings within each table according to increasing carbon number of the carbonyl substrates. The literature is covered through December 2010, including a new listing of nearly 200 literature citations that supplement the original coverage of 834 references used in the earlier hard cover version of the chapter. Allylboration of Carbonyl Compounds is intended to be a useful, easily read reference book for all practitioners of synthetic organic chemistry working in academic and industrial laboratories.
