In considering the book's conclusions about the impact of population growth on development, four caveats should be noted. First, the effects of population growth vary from place to place and over time. Thus, blanket statements about overall effects often cannot be made. Where possible, the authors note the contexts in which population effects are strongest and weakest. Second, all of the outcomes examined in this book are influenced by factors other than population growth. Moreover, the impact of population growth may itself vary according to the presence or absence of other factors. This again makes bl anket statements about the effects of population growth difficult. Méthodologie : Étude qualitative par entretiens individuels chez les internes de médecine générale et jeunes remplaçants exerçant dans le Nord-Pas-de-Calais ayant vécu une ou plusieurs expériences d'AM au sein de leur couple. Le codage des 10 entretiens semidirigés a été réalisé avec le logiciel NVivo. Résultats : L'expérience personnelle d'AM est ressentie de façon positive malgré des difficultés. Leur formation universitaire est complétée par des initiatives personnelles et leur vécu personnel d'AM. Le médecin généraliste a un rôle de premier recours, d'information et d'orientation rendu difficile par la réalité de l'exercice. L'expérience personnelle a influencé la pratique des interrogés. Ils abordent plus aisément et spontanément l'AM en consultation. Ils ont approfondi leurs connaissances techniques et ont appris à conseiller et à orienter les patientes. Conclusion : Le vécu personnel est un atout pour prendre en charge l'AM. Il ne peut être considéré comme nécessaire et suffisant dans l'acquisition de compétences. Il n'est qu'une ressource dans l'arsenal du développement personnel continu.
