Book All Women Are Bitches and All Men Are Bastards

Download or read book All Women Are Bitches and All Men Are Bastards written by Nina van der Plas and published by BalboaPress. This book was released on 2012-08-28 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Men and women are perhaps more alike than either would care to admit. In this guide, former Personal Development Coach and Personal Trainer Nina van der Plas invites you to laugh at how very human we all are. All Women Are Bitches, and All Men Are Bastards allows us to take a closer look at ourselves before we point a finger at the opposite sex. By providing valuable insights into what goes on behind the scenes in our actions, she helps her clients to understand that everything works in balance. Lessons we learned in childhood are played out in our adult lives, and the more aware we become, the easier it is for us to break these patterns. A new way of being can begin with something as simple as a change in focus. This can be difficult, as it can challenge a relationship to growor grow apart. Fear is what keeps people from pushing ahead, and the old safeguard of at least Im not alone seems like a safe haven. But if we loved ourselves enough, we would never allow ourselves to be miserable, hurt, or sad. By changing our behaviour and holding ourselves responsible, we can learn true respect for our selves and others, self-confidence, self-empowerment, integrity, a healthy body image, and an uninhibited sense for creative expression. Once we learn to look within and from anothers point of view, we can have more valuable relationships. This is a journey inwardsandpaper for the soul.

Book All Women Are Bitches

Download or read book All Women Are Bitches written by Will Hanson and published by . This book was released on 2016-08-15 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All Women Are Bitches is a short, historically factual, very irreverent and slightly biased account of the relationships between women and men and their connection to religion. Although this is clearly meant to be a handbook for men, it is dedicated to all the beautiful women who inspired me to write it. I realize that many of you will understandably be quite upset with me and think that only an asshole would write a book with a title like this. You could be right about that, but please don't rush to judgment. Do you really think I spent all this time and effort to be known as the asshole who wrote a book? The contents might surprise you, and if you take the time to read the entire book, you may change your opinion. I'm actually very loveable. And ladies, if you do decide to read this handbook for men, there is a section near the end where I offer you some helpful advice that you may be able to use in the future. And don't get all negative on me before I even start; I'm not telling you what to do because I know better. I'm only offering advice. When I decided well over a year ago to write a book, I wasn't really sure what to write about. My initial thought was to come across as likeable and for the book to be entertaining, easy reading, and non-offensive. Obviously that didn't happen. Days went by and I had nothing, so I wrote this instead.

Book excerpt: A groundbreaking guide for women of all ages that shows their natural moodiness is a strength, not a weakness As women, we learn from an early age that our moods are a problem, an annoyance to be stuffed away. But our bodies are wiser than we imagine. Moods are a finely tuned feedback system that allows us to be more empathic, intuitive, and aware of our own capabilities. If we deny our emotionality, we deny the breadth of our talents. Yet millions of American women are medicating away their emotions with psychiatric drugs whose effects are more far-reaching than most of us realize. And even if we don’t pop a pill, women everywhere are numbing their emotions with food, alcohol, and a host of addictive behaviors that deny the wisdom of our bodies and keep us from addressing the real issues we face. Psychiatrist Julie Holland knows there is a better way. In Moody Bitches, she shares insider information about the drugs we’re being offered and the direct link between food and mood, and she offers practical advice on sex, exercise, and sleep strategies, as well as some surprisingly effective natural therapies. In the tradition of Our Bodies, Our Selves, this groundbreaking guide will forge a much needed new path in women’s health—and offer women invaluable information on how to live better, and be more balanced, at every stage of life.

Book Bitch

  • Author : Elizabeth Wurtzel
  • Publisher : Anchor
  • Release : 2012-10-17
  • ISBN : 030782988X
  • Pages : 450 pages

Download or read book Bitch written by Elizabeth Wurtzel and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2012-10-17 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of the bestselling Prozac Nation comes one of the most entertaining feminist manifestos ever written. In five brilliant extended essays, she links the lives of women as demanding and disparate as Amy Fisher, Hillary Clinton, Margaux Hemingway, and Nicole Brown Simpson. Wurtzel gives voice to those women whose lives have been misunderstood, who have been dismissed for their beauty, their madness, their youth. Bitch is a brilliant tract on the history of manipulative female behavior. By looking at women who derive their power from their sexuality, Wurtzel offers a trenchant cultural critique of contemporary gender relations. Beginning with Delilah, the first woman to supposedly bring a great man down (latter-day Delilahs include Yoko Ono, Pam Smart, Bess Myerson), Wurtzel finds many biblical counterparts to the men and women in today's headlines. She finds in the story of Amy Fisher the tragic plight of all Lolitas, our thirst for their brief and intense flame. She connects Hemingway's tragic suicide to those of Sylvia Plath, Edie Sedgwick, and Marilyn Monroe, women whose beauty was an end, ultimately, in itself. Wurtzel, writing about the wife/mistress dichotomy, explains how some women are anointed as wife material, while others are relegated to the role of mistress. She takes to task the double standard imposed on women, the cultural insistence on goodness and society's complete obsession with badness: what's a girl to do? Let's face it, if women were any real threat to male power, "Gennifer Flowers would be sitting behind the desk of the Oval Office," writes Wurtzel, "and Bill Clinton would be a lounge singer in the Excelsior Hotel in Little Rock." Bitch tells a tale both celebratory and cautionary as Wurtzel catalogs some of the most infamous women in history, defending their outsize desires, describing their exquisite loneliness, championing their take-no-prisoners approach to life and to love. Whether writing about Courtney Love, Sally Hemings, Bathsheba, Kimba Wood, Sharon Stone, Princess Di--or waxing eloquent on the hideous success of The Rules, the evil that is The Bridges of Madison County, the twisted logic of You'll Never Make Love in This Town Again--Wurtzel is back with a bitchography that cuts to the core. In prose both blistering and brilliant, Bitch is a treatise on the nature of desperate sexual manipulation and a triumph of pussy power.

Book A Politically Incorrect Feminist

Download or read book A Politically Incorrect Feminist written by Phyllis Chesler and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2018-08-28 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A powerful and revealing memoir about the pioneers of modern-day feminism Phyllis Chesler was a pioneer of Second Wave Feminism. Chesler and the women who came out swinging between 1972-1975 integrated the want ads, brought class action lawsuits on behalf of economic discrimination, opened rape crisis lines and shelters for battered women, held marches and sit-ins for abortion and equal rights, famously took over offices and buildings, and pioneered high profile Speak-outs. They began the first-ever national and international public conversations about birth control and abortion, sexual harassment, violence against women, female orgasm, and a woman’s right to kill in self-defense. Now, Chesler has juicy stories to tell. The feminist movement has changed over the years, but Chesler knew some of its first pioneers, including Gloria Steinem, Kate Millett, Flo Kennedy, and Andrea Dworkin. These women were fierce forces of nature, smoldering figures of sin and soul, rock stars and action heroes in real life. Some had been viewed as whores, witches, and madwomen, but were changing the world and becoming major players in history. In A Politically Incorrect Feminist, Chesler gets chatty while introducing the reader to some of feminism's major players and world-changers.

Book Machine Habitus

  • Author : Massimo Airoldi
  • Publisher : John Wiley & Sons
  • Release : 2021-12-13
  • ISBN : 1509543295
  • Pages : 200 pages

Download or read book Machine Habitus written by Massimo Airoldi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-12-13 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We commonly think of society as made of and by humans, but with the proliferation of machine learning and AI technologies, this is clearly no longer the case. Billions of automated systems tacitly contribute to the social construction of reality by drawing algorithmic distinctions between the visible and the invisible, the relevant and the irrelevant, the likely and the unlikely – on and beyond platforms. Drawing on the work of Pierre Bourdieu, this book develops an original sociology of algorithms as social agents, actively participating in social life. Through a wide range of examples, Massimo Airoldi shows how society shapes algorithmic code, and how this culture in the code guides the practical behaviour of the code in the culture, shaping society in turn. The ‘machine habitus’ is the generative mechanism at work throughout myriads of feedback loops linking humans with artificial social agents, in the context of digital infrastructures and pre-digital social structures. Machine Habitus will be of great interest to students and scholars in sociology, media and cultural studies, science and technology studies and information technology, and to anyone interested in the growing role of algorithms and AI in our social and cultural life.
